Chapter 186: THE FOOTAGE

As Julian rushed into the hospital with Astrid in his arms, Maren followed closely behind, tears streaming down her face. "It’s all my fault!" she sobbed.

"I am so sorry, Astrid!"

Julian quickly made his way to the VVIP room, where Dr. Lee had already been waiting since Julain had alerted him. Dr. Lee’s expression turned serious as he took in Astrid’s condition.

"What happened?" Dr. Lee asked worriedly.

Julian tried to explain, but he was too frustrated to speak. Maren, still crying, took over. "The oven... it exploded... Astrid was thrown out... I’m so sorry!"

Dr. Lee’s expression turned grave, but he quickly sprang into action. "Let’s get her treated, now!" he ordered, and a team of nurses rushed into the room shutting Maren and Julian out of the room.

Dr. Lee quickly assessed Astrid’s condition, checking her vital signs and examining her wounds.

He gently cut away her burned clothing around her arm, revealing second-degree burns on her arms.

The nurses quickly got to work, cleaning and dressing Astrid’s wounds. Dr. Lee administered a painkiller and an antibiotic, and ordered an IV to be set up.

As the medical team worked to stabilize Astrid, Dr. Lee couldn’t shake off the feeling that something wasn’t quite right.

Astrid’s wounds were serious, but they didn’t seem to be life-threatening. And yet, Julian and Maren were acting as if she was on the brink of death.

Just then Astrid’s eyes flickered open. She looked up at Dr. Lee, then at Julian and Maren, who were standing anxiously by her bedside.

"Wh...what happened?" Astrid stammered, her voice weak but clear.

Dr. Lee’s eyes narrowed. "You were in an accident, Astrid. The oven exploded, and you were thrown out. But you are going to be okay. You’re safe now."

Astrid’s eyes seemed to cloud over, and she looked away, her expression unreadable. Dr. Lee’s suspicions grew.

"Please can they leave?" she asked and Dr Lee stared at her weirdly.

"Mrs Log... sorry Miss.."

"Daniels.." she helped out and he could recall that they announced their divorce and is still surprised to see Julian bringing her to the hospital.

"Please tell them to leave," she murmured again and Dr Lee nodded his head gesturing for them to leave.

"Miss Daniels do you want me to inform..." she schooled her head quickly.

"The footage of my mum’s room.." she announced and Dr Lee gave her a weird look.

"Miss... Daniels... it’s been more than a year, this happened I was never expecting this..."

"I heard the CCTV footage wants recovered," she cut him off as she tried to sit.

"Yeah, there was something wrong with it and Sir Gilbert tried his best to find out more about the death."

Astrid nodded her head in understanding but the lol in her eyes says otherwise, " and what if I say, I want to get the solitary footage without any kind of excuse from the hospital,"

"Miss."

"Julian might have been divorced, but I promise you it will for me and it’s going to take action so I think the best thing you need to do now is find ways to get footage,"

Dr Lee looked confused and flabbergasted, he had gone through shit with her grandfather he ain’t planning on respecting the same thing with her.

"I will try my best to get all of this information to be footage installed in the VIPP walkway." Astrid nodded her head and forced herself to sit.

She grunted in pain and Dr Lee rushed toward her helping her up, "Ma, am your wound might not be that much but i am very sure you are hurt by it."

"Yeah... you are going to admit me in the hospital for a while and I want to have my hands on all the CCTV footage without Stephan or any cohort of my dad and Mattie, understood?"

"Consider it done ma’am." he announced and helped frat herbehrn she wa done he walked out and then Maren and Julain rushed inside.

"Astruc!" they both yelled and Marne sat beside her, "I am so sorry I am stupid I should have refused cooking for you, I should..." Astrid pulled her hands and shook her head.

"Maren... you don’t have to be worried I am doing fine," Maren glanced at the bandage around her arm and she gave Astrid a weird look.

"You don’t look good right now," Astrid could only let out a small smile, and then her stomach grumbled.

Astrid grabbed her stomach, and Julian immediately became alert. "I should help you get something to eat," he announced, before walking out of the room. However, his phone buzzed, and he pulled it out to see his dad calling.

"What the hell is going on?" Julian’s dad asked gruffly. "You divorced Astrid without our permission, and now your mom has decided not to speak to you again. And now, I hear you’re having a private wedding?"

Julian swallowed hard. "What are you talking about?"

"A private wedding?" his dad repeated. "Tonia called me and said you’re getting married again. How could you get someone pregnant when you were still married to Astrid?"

Julian’s expression turned uncomfortable, and he quickly walked out of the room, leaving Astrid and Maren hanging.

Maren let out a laugh. "Wow, I guess Mattie’s family already called his family."

Astrid rolled her eyes. "The hell! You aren’t supposed to be in the hospital now. The pain... I see what I caused."

Maren looked guilty again, and Astrid laughed it off. "It’s just a little wound, which won’t even leave a scar."

Maren gave Astrid a weird look. "Seriously?"

Astrid smiled. "I did it, so stop blaming yourself... I caused the fire."

The room fell silent for a moment before Maren regained herself. "What do you mean?"

Astrid’s expression turned serious. "I needed to end up in the hospital and secretly investigate my mom’s death, so I can know who to deal with."

Maren’s eyes widened. "What the hell!"

Astrid smiled, but her eyes were cold. "I suspect my mom’s death wasn’t a natural one, Maren. I think either Mattie or my dad had a hand in her death. Ending up in the hospital is the only way to investigate without causing suspicion."
