Astrid’s eyes locked onto Mattie’s, her expression unreadable. "I am not sure I can hear your apologies, Mattie. You have hurt me so many times because of your so-called love for Julian." She took in a deep breath feigning hurt.

Mattie’s face contorted in desperation, trying to force herself not to get angry, she was only doing this to get back at Julian.

"Astrid, I am so sorry." She pleaded more clearly now as she tried to hide her fury.

"I was blind and stupid, and I let my jealousy consume me, making me hurt your feelings. Please, forgive me."

Astrid’s gaze softened, she knew Mattie had other ulterior motives and she was also going to make sure to use her trucks against her.

Astrid squatted down to Mattie’s level with a small smile. "Mattie, of course, I am not a stranger anymore but your cousin. I could never stay mad at you." she let out patting her hair gently, her gaze boring into that of Mattie.

"I forgive you, and I understand the pain you have been going through because of the destruction it caused at your past wedding ceremony." Mattie gulped down with anger brewing in her heart.

Trying to stop Astrid’s hands from going through her hair, Mattie’s eyes welled up with tears as she grasped Astrid’s hands, her voice shaking.

"Thank you, Astrid. Thank you for forgiving me."

Astrid smiled and pulled Mattie into a tight hug. "I forgive you, Mattie. But..."

Mattie’s eyes narrowed, her grip on Astrid’s hands tightening. "But what?"

"You have to promise we become good friends and improve our relationship, granddad isn’t happy seeing us fighting this way," Astrid let out loudly to everyone’s hearing.

Donald smiled at this, he hoped Mattie would listen and become good friends with Astrid like she had just wanted.

Before Mattie could give a response Astrid’s voice dropped to a whisper. "Mattie, don’t play silly games with me, I know that forgiveness was to make everyone believe you want to turn a new leaf." Mattie’s eyes widened as she tried to push her away but Astrid clicked her tongue, smiling fully with her eyes closed.

"You are the sweet innocent girl asking for punishment now, remember? Mattie shut her eyes and tried to force on a smile.

"Should I tell you a little truth?" Astrid hands wrapped around Mattie closely.

"Are you sure you are pregnant or just trying to use that in gaining Julian to be yours?"

Mattie’s face turned beet red with rage, her eyes blazing with fury. "Forget you can ever make Julian your husband, I once had the Logan title and will forever have it."

Mattie, not able to take it anymore, pushed Astrid backward, sending her crashing to the ground. "Astrid!" Julian and Maren rushed to Astrid’s side, helping her up.

Mattie’s anger boiled over, and she stood up, her hands clenched into fists. "You’re a sly bitch! Because I stopped so low and asked for your forgiveness" she spat, her voice venomous. "You think you can just take Julian away from me?"

"Mattie..." Astrid called feigning hurt, "I... I... only thought we could become friends."

"How dare you try to play with me!" Mattie cried out sprinting toward Astrid but Julian quickly grabbed Mattie’s hands, his eyes flashing with anger.

"Mattie, stop! I asked you to apologize, not hurt Astrid." Mattie was left stupefied, this gaze he had never displayed to her before.

Tonia rushed to Mattie’s side, her voice calm but firm. "Mattie, what’s wrong? Why did you react that way?" she asked pulling Mattie from Julian.

Mattie’s eyes glowed with fury, as she massaged her arm Julian had grabbed her voice shaking. "She said she wouldn’t give Julian to me! She’s just trying to take him away from me!"

Tonia’s eyes narrowed, her gaze flicking to Astrid, who was groaning in pain. "How dare you, Astrid? Despite Mattie’s apology, you still had to go and provoke her?"

Miles was not able to take it anymore and stepped forward, his eyes locked on his mother. "Maybe something’s wrong with Mattie, Mom. We all stood here and didn’t hear Astrid make any statement like that."

Astrid’s eyes welled up with tears, her voice shaking. "I don’t understand why Mattie hates me so much. I only want to try and make friends with her, not expecting her to hurt me this way."

Julian’s face darkened, his eyes flashing with anger. "Mattie, if you want to marry me, you need to work on your behavior. I don’t want to hold grudges with my ex-wife."

Mattie’s eyes widened, her face pale with shock. She tried to explain, but Julian cut her off.

"No, Mattie. I don’t want to hear it. You need to calm down and think about your actions."

"What?" Mattie asked in shock "You don’t believe me?" Julian let out a sad chuckle.

"I have done that several times and it turned out to be a lie, so why should I believe you this time around?"

Mattie’s gaze flicked to Astrid, who was smiling smugly, her eyes gleaming with triumph. Mattie’s anger boiled over, and she pointed a shaking finger at Astrid.

"She’s laughing at me! She’s enjoying this! Julian look!"

Julian’s eyes narrowed, his gaze flicking to Astrid, who was looking down, her hands groaning in pain. His expression darkened, and he turned back to Mattie.

"You are not making any sense, Mattie. You’re just being paranoid and jealous." Miles stepped forward, his voice firm.

"Enough, Mattie! You always have tricks up your sleeve. If you don’t work on yourself, I won’t allow you to marry Julian."

Mattie’s face contorted in anger, and she spat at Miles. "You hate me, Miles! You never want me to be happy! This is your opportunity right?"

Miles’s eyes flashed with anger, and he slapped Mattie across the face. Tonia rushed forward, her voice shrill with anger.

"Miles, how could you? She’s pregnant!" Mattie’s eyes welled up with tears, and she pulled away from her mother, her voice shaking.

"No one trusts me! Everyone’s against me! You only support this bitch! I regret apologizing!" she cried out.

Donald stepped forward, his voice calm and authoritative. "I think it’s time for Mattie to go home and rest. When she’s feeling better, we can discuss the marriage again."

Mattie’s eyes widened in horror, and she backed away, her voice shaking. "No, I won’t go! I won’t leave Julian!"

Miles rushed forward, lifting Mattie off the ground. "You’re going home, Mattie. And you’re going to stay there until you can calm down and think clearly."

Mattie struggled and kicked, her eyes blazing with fury. "Let me go! I hate you, Miles! You’re always against me!"

Astrid watched the scene unfold, a smug smile spreading across her face. She was satisfied that Mattie was finally getting what was coming to her.

As Miles carried Mattie out of the room, Tonia glanced at Astrid whose expression was back to pain.

"You!" Donald cleared his throat and she stopped on her track, and quickly followed Miles, her face etched with worry. "Miles, be careful. She’s pregnant, and we don’t want her to get hurt."

As they disappeared from view, Astrid let out a sigh of relief, this was just the beginning she would make sure Mattie regretted ever crossing her path.

The car pulled up in front of the Adams mansion and Mattie rushed into the house, her eyes blazing with anger and determination.

She stormed into the living room, where her father, Zach, was sitting on the couch.

Her mother ran behind her while Miles, already frustrated, went back into his car driving off.

"Dad, you have to do something about Astrid!" Mattie exclaimed, her voice shrill with urgency.

"She’s trying to take Julian away from me, and your partnership with the Logans is also being threatened!"

But before Mattie could continue, Zach’s face darkened, and he slapped her across the face. Mattie’s head snapped back, and she stumbled backward, her eyes wide with shock and pain.

Tonia rushed forward, screaming at Zach. "How could you, Zach! You have no right to hit our pregnant daughter!"

Zach pushed Tonia aside, his face twisted in anger. "Stay out of this, Tonia. Mattie needs to learn to control her temper and stop causing trouble for this family."

Mattie’s eyes welled up with tears as she stared at her father in shock. She couldn’t believe he was treating her like this.

"Why are you being so cruel, Dad?" Mattie asked, her voice shaking. "I’m just trying to protect our family’s interests."

Zach sneered at her. "Protect our family’s interests? You’re the one who’s been causing all the trouble, Mattie. You and your mother have been doing crazy things, and it’s affected our partnership with the Logans. If you are not careful, I will disown you as my daughter."

Mattie felt like she had been punched in the gut. She couldn’t believe her father was threatening to disown her.

Tonia stepped forward, her eyes flashing with anger. "Zach, that’s enough!"

"I am serious, if she makes any more mistakes I will disown her and she won’t have my name for life again," Zach affirmed and Tonia was in a rage as she pushed him back.

"What? Why are you cruel to her? Is it because Astrid is the daughter of your first love!"
