Chapter 161: FRIENDSHIP OVER
Chapter 161: FRIENDSHIP OVER
Stephan’s eyes widened in shock as he stared at Julian, his face pale with incredulity.
"You can’t be serious, Julian," he said, his voice shaking with anger. "Are you bluffing?"
Julian’s expression was dead serious, his weakness was the one keeping him down.
"Bluffing?" He repeated with a dangerous chuckle.
"From now on, there will be nothing like friendship between us." he let out.
Astrid’s eyes darted back and forth between the two men, her face reflecting her shock and confusion.
"Julian, what are you doing?" she asked, her voice trembling. Stephan’s face turned red with rage as he took a step closer to Julian.
"Why would you say something like that, Julian?" he demanded. "Did you hear some crazy news from someone? What’s going on?"
Julian’s expression didn’t change, but his voice took on a hint of sadness.
"Did you do something to make me mad, Stephan?" he asked. "Something that would make me want to stop our friendship?"
Stephan glanced over at Astrid, already having a weird feeling.
"You are not stopping our friendship because of this...this...bitch right?" he implored, his voice venomous.
Julian’s face darkened with anger, and even in his weakened state, he tried to stand up from the bed. Miles quickly intervened, grabbing Julian’s arm and holding him back.
"Hey, hey, calm down, Julian," Miles said, his voice soothing.
But Stephan was still fuming."You are going to throw away our friendship for someone you don’t even love?" he shouted, his face twisted with rage.
"Say one more wrong word about my wife, and I’ll make sure you regret ever knowing me," Julian warned.
Stephan’s face paled, he couldn’t help but wonder what Julian had known for his sudden declaration.
"You are blind to what’s right in front of you."
Astrid tried to intervene, but Stephan cut her off. "Shut your trap, Astrid," he snarled. "This doesn’t concern you."
Julian’s face turned red with rage, and he launched himself at Stephan, punching him despite his weakened state.
Astrid gasped in shock, and Miles quickly interfered, grabbing Julian’s arm and holding him back.
"Julian, stop!" Miles shouted, his voice firm. "This isn’t going to solve anything!"
Julian struggled against Miles’ grip, his eyes blazing with fury. "You have no right to talk about my wife like that, Stephan," he spat, not listening to Miles he pushed Miles away lunging at Stephen again and kicking him backward making Stephan back slam against the wall.
Astrid’s eyes were wide with shock at this, she watched as Miles struggled to separate the men while she felt sad.
Miles finally managed to separate the two men, his voice firm as he yelled at Julian.
"What’s wrong with you, Julian? You’re still sick and you’re fighting? And what’s with suddenly ending things with Stephan like that? That was a wrong move, Julian."
Stephan held his chin groaning in pain, as he added, "I cared so much for this bastard that I didn’t even go to the hospital when I heard he got hurt. I only came to treat him, and now this is what it results to."
Astrid felt a pang of guilt and regret as she watched the exchange. She had been trying to hide this within her because she didn’t want to be the cause of their fight. But she had been so mad the previous night, and she had spilled everything out to Julian.
"When you are strong, we will need to talk," Miles suggested his voice firm Julaim was about refusing but Miles glared at him.
Stephan exhaled sharply and glanced at Astrid, Julian saw the dirty gaze he shit at her. He tried to move toward Stephan, but Miles held him down.
"Let him go, Julian," Miles said, his voice calm.
He managed to suppress his anger and watch him leave after Stephan left.
Julian faced Miles"You are being too calm, Miles," he said, his eyes narrowing. "That means you know something."
Miles glanced at Julian, "What made you think so?"
"I am not stupid Miles, I know you every fuvking things Stephan has been doing behind my back," Astrid glanced at Miles expecting him to deny it but he shit her a concerned look before they disappeared again.-
"Astrid, please can you leave? We want to talk to friends,"
Astrid felt left out and didn’t say anything else. Instead, she politely excused herself, feeling a pang of sadness and regret.
Julian wanted to call her back, seeing how bad she felt. But he stopped himself, seeing Miles’ gaze.
He knew that Miles was trying to tell him something, and he was determined to find out what it was.
The moment Astrid left the room, Miles turned to Julian and asked, "What’s going on, Julian? Why are you suddenly mad at Stephan?"
Julian’s eyes constricted, his voice low. "Astrid told me what he did to her."
Miles’ expression turned serious, his eyes widening in surprise. "I didn’t think he’d actually...I mean, I learned he was worried about you, but I didn’t think he’d go that far."
Julian glanced up at him, the look on his face didn’t hold amusement at all, "You knew about it, didn’t you? You knew what he did to her." Julaim pressed on to his best friend.
Miles sighed, his shoulders slumping in defeat. "Yes I knew about the Paris incident, and I sorted out the men who were involved. They are currently in jail for what they did.
"So it’s true? He did it?" he asked rhetorically. Miles nodded, his expression grim.
"I am sorry, Julian. I should have told you, but I was trying to protect our friendship."
"I want those men, Miles. I want to make every one of them pay for what they did to her." Julian announced Miles knew there was no way he wouldn’t find a way to get the men who had touched his wife.
"Julian.." his words were left hanging when Julaik walked past him and walked out of the room.
Miles sighed and followed him, knowing it would be hard to change his mind.
As Julian entered the living room, he saw Astrid arranging food on the table.
She glanced up at him and smiled, telling him to come and eat. Julian felt a wave of relief wash over him, seeing that Astrid wasn’t as angry as he thought she would be.
He walked over to the table and sat down, Astrid helping him serve his food.
Miles also came down, and a small smile appeared on his face as he tried to tease Astrid.
"You only call your husband to come to eat breakfast?" he taunted Astrid.
But she rolled her eyes, "You are my first friend yet you knew about Stephan’s craziness in Paris but didn’t say anything about it."
Miles felt bad, and his smile disappeared knowing that he had hurt Astrid’s feelings.
"I am so sorry Astrid, I know you can hate me but I Was just trying to protect our friendship,"
Astrid gave a slide nod in acceptance. "Well I still don’t know how the rich worked, and so I don’t expect things to go the way she wanted.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Astrid excused herself and went to answer the door.
Julian watched her go, feeling a sense of unease but then glanced back at Miles seeing the disappointed look he had on.
Astrid opened the door, and her eyes widened slightly as she received a package from the mailman.
She smiled politely, took the package, and closed the door without another word.
As she walked back into the living room, she opened the package, her expression a mix of sadness and excitement.
She couldn’t quite describe her feelings as she pulled out the files and began to read through them.
Miles and Julian watched her with curiosity, wondering what she had received. But Astrid didn’t say a word, her focus solely on the documents in front of her.
Finally, she pulled out a pen and signed the documents, her hand moving swiftly and surely. Then, she turned to Julian and walked toward him where he sat.
"What is this?" Julian asked, his eyes scanning the documents. Then she dropped it on the table handing him the pen she had.
Astrid’s voice was steady as she replied, "It’s a divorce paper. Since you refused to sign the one you had, I brought a new one."
Julian’s eyes widened in shock as he stared at Astrid. He was left speechless, unsure of how to react.
Miles tried to intervene, to talk Astrid out of it, but Julian stopped him. He looked at Astrid, his eyes searching hers.
"Would this make you happy?" he asked, his voice low and husky.
Astrid’s response was immediate. "Yes," she said, without hesitation.
Julian’s eyes locked onto hers, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Then, without another word, Julian collected the pain and signed the document.
The room was silent, the only sound was the scratch of the pen on the paper. "There it is Astrid," he announced, giving her back the divorce paper.
