Chapter 113: HER SCHEME

"Stop it!" Miles yelled, grappling with his sister as she flared up trying to hit Astrid.

Mattie’s face twisted in rage. "You bitch! You bitch! I am going to make you pay for taking away my man! I promise you, I will make you pay, you sly whore!"

Miles lifted Mattie off the ground, struggling to restrain her.

"Mrs... I’m sorry," Miles apologized, turning to Elizabeth. "I am sorry for what my sister just did. I will take care of her. Please, don’t worry about it, Astrid. Forgive us."

But Mattie continued yelling, her voice hoarse. "You whore! You stole him from me!"

Julian’s expression darkened, his eyes flashing anger.

Elizabeth leit out stunned."That’s enough. Please take your sister outside."

Miles dragged Mattie out, apologizing repeatedly.

While Elizabeth’s shocked gaze followed them. "Who...?" she pointed, her voice trembling.

"Who is that?" she asked, confusion etched on her face.

Julian stepped forward, his expression calming. "It’s a long story, ma’am. I promise to explain everything when you’re feeling stronger."

Astrid’s eyes narrowed, embarrassment written across her face.

"Yeah, Mum," Astrid said, pushing Julian aside. "We’ll sort it out. Don’t worry."

Elizabeth nodded, her eyes still haunted. "Are you sure?" she asked, and Astrodnodded again.

Astrid helped her mother settle back into bed. "Mum, I will get you something to eat. You should rest. Can you wait here alone for a bit?" Astrid asked.

Elizabeth nodded weakly. "I will be right back," Astrid reassured and then gestured to Julian.

"Good, Julian, come with me. I need to share a conversation with you."

Julian swallowed hard, uneasy about the tone she used. For some reason, he didn’t have a good feeling about their impending conversation.

Astrid turned to her mother, her voice filled with affection. "My sweet darling, I’ll be expecting you. Just so happy to see you again."Elizabeth whispered.

She kissed her mother’s forehead, and they shared a warm smile before Astrid stood up to leave.

As she walked toward the door, she glanced back, noticing Julian wasn’t following. She turned again, her gaze meeting him.

"We will be back soon, Mum," Julian said, his voice gentle.

Astrid rolled her eyes and continued walking outside.

The moment they stepped out of the room, Astrid turned to Julian.

"Astrid, I promise I didn’t know she would find your mom’s room. I didn’t tell her, sorry for what she’s done," Julian apologized.

Astrid snickered, her hands clasped against her chest. "Julian, I know I told you my heart beats for you, and you were my crush. I also didn’t forget the good incidents. How much you cared about me, took me to the hospital, and took care of me when I was down."

She took a deep breath. "Please, just stay with Mattie and don’t come to me. Just stick to the contract, and b couples on paper only."

Julian’s expression turned puzzled. "What are you trying to say?"

Astrid’s voice firm. "What I am trying to say is, don’t show your face in front of my mother again. I can just make up something about your work. She knows you are someone that is supposed to be busy."

Julian moved closer, as placed his hands on her shoulder now jerking her gently.

"But... All of a sudden, you want me to do that. What do you expect your mom to think about me?" Julian asked.

Astrid’s eyes flashed warning. "Don’t play dumb, Julian. You know exactly what I mean."

Julian’s grip on her shoulder tightened.

"Are you pushing me away because of Mattie’s outburst?" Julian’s voice was laced with emotion.

Astrid’s face set, anger now etched on her face.

"For goodness sake we don’t have a future together, so tell me why you should show up before my mother as my husband." She yelped.

"Astrid you have my title Logan but all of a sudden you want me to stay away from you so that you can go back to Rowan or Miles,"

She smacked him across his face again and crazily he didn’t react to that.

"You can slap me, kick me do anything to make you feel right but that doesn’t change the fact that I am your husband and I won’t stay away from you or your mother,"

"Fine, then after a year it will be over. We can go. We will both go our separate ways that day." she said and walked out on him.

"Astrid!" He called but her steps were so fast as tears streamed down her eyes.

"Don’t you walk away from me!" He yelled after her but she didn’t give a response. She walks past Mattie and Miles, not noticing them.

"Let me go!" Mattie and Miles, who had been struggling a bit far from them, wanted to run after Astrid.

Miles already knew her intention; he refused to let her go until Astrid had gone somewhere.

They both glanced at Julian punched the wall in fry, this time might go as she will achieve down to where he stood.

"Julian?" she called.

"Just forget about her. She’s not your anger, She’s not worth your emotion is, not even... your sadness.," She let out the last phrase.

"Mattie," he blew out a rasp of hair as he bent to a level, " I am really sorry I wasn’t expecting to go this way. I know everything must be shocking for you since you lost your memory but you shouldn’t attack my wife that way."

"What?" she asked in shock.

"Yes you heard me right, I agree I hurt you and the reason why you got mad and drove that night then lost your memory was me. But, listen to your family and just stay away from me for now,"

"Julian." she cried out.

"I am so sorry Mattie, forgive me, but I think it’s better. I will let you know now that we both are the bricks before you lost your memory,"

"I don’t care. Yes, I lost my memory and I am not going to recall sad memories. I love you, we love ourselves right from childhood. You can’t destroy this relationship for someone I don’t even know how you met her!"

"Mattie!"

"Julian! I don’t care if she’s your wife," Mattie emphasized.

"You don’t even care for ladies that week, so I am pretty sure something must have happened during that situation. Please, let’s sort it out."

Julian glanced at Miles, seeking assistance, but Miles shrugged, offering no help.

"Fine," Julian grumbled, his mind racing with conflicting thoughts. "We can sort it out if that’s what you want."

Mattie’s smirk grew wider. "Yes, I told you I would have you. Losing my memory? That’s a joke."

Mattie’s gaze locked onto Julian, her eyes burning with victory. "I will continue to pretend I lost my memory until I win your heart back and send her back to the hell she crawled out from."
