Chapter 81: Confrontation

The timing of Elaina’s parents is truly impeccable. Not only a way to ruin the fun but they are also now going to ruin Elaina’s farm life. Although Elaina is quite nervous, she is also ready to defend herself and the farm as well. It might not have been her farm for very long but Elaina is not going to just give it up as she has started to grow accustomed to the place. Not only is it a good place to grow crops, a farm that is close to a nearby active dungeon, and not only due to the Harvest Goddess living on the stream, but it was also because she had grown to feel that this is now her new home and she is ready to defend it whatever it takes to do so.

"Elaina, whatever happens, I will be with you all the way. You have worked so hard on this farm that you don’t need to give this place up. I will help you in defending this place in case Father’s men will start to conduct an attack."

"If they ever did something like that, I will not hesitate to also attack them. I am not going to become the same girl who would just let things go like that. They dictated my whole life, now I have to choose for myself this time around."

With the news of the impending arrival, Troy expected that her sister would do something about their parents and would actively try to see a way to fully deal with them. However, instead of the expectation he had in mind, Elaina is currently...doing the usual.

Elaina continued to do her farm work. She is even more active on her farm than even trying to find a way to stop their parents. He didn’t know what to say. He was more confused as to what exactly was Elaina planning on doing. He even asks Julia a few times what plan might be brewing in Elaina’s mind but even her loyal companion is not aware of what Elaina is thinking.

And so, just like what Troy estimated, the ship that vessels their parents hit the port. It is one of the first news he received from the informants he hired while he was in town.

Despite the arrival of their parents, Troy still has no idea what will happen and honestly, he is not sure if things will go smoothly ever. But whatever happens, he will not leave behind his sister for better or for worse.

Elaina is already aware of the arrival of her Mother and Father. Based on the look on her brother’s face, she can tell that he is already having some ideas coming into his head on what he should do or not. But because she didn’t reveal or do anything the past few days about their arrival, this made Troy look so panicked.

With fear ingrained in their minds, it is now part of their system to fear their parents. As for her, she grew desensitized by their treatment that even though deep down some lingering fear remained, she was mostly not bothered anymore and felt better than being worried and fear of them. She instead develops immunity to it over time.

Julia who was going undercover in town by the orders of Troy returned carrying information about the visitors.

"Sis, it seems they have come prepared. Elite guards are with them and a few of the ministers are also with them. I haven’t seen much but it seems they also have someone from the church with them as well."

"So it comes to this huh?" Elaina calmly drinks water while waiting for the eventual arrival of her parents, her sword is ready on her side and she is calm about the entire situation."

"Ms. Elaina, are you even sure about this? Our help would be vital for this!" Princess Tabatha asked who was currently inside waiting for a good chance to help Elaina despite her not even asking for any help.

"It’s best you two would stay out of this matter. Julia, until the situation is clear, don’t let the two princesses interfere with this matter. I don’t want things to get worse than it should be."

Julia nodded and proceeded to contain the two princesses inside the house for the time being using her magic barrier. Despite their protests, they didn’t resort to calling the Shadows to help and break them out of the barrier that Julia made.

Elaina also spoke to the gods that are watching her. "Hey, I know you guys are listening as well. I know you guys are capable of using your powers to do something and aid me on this matter but you guys shouldn’t do anything. I can handle this just fine. You can all just watch the situation unfold."

"[We are just observers of your story. And knowing you, I know you would resent us if we did. Until you ask for our help, we will remain as observers.]"

Elaina smiled before standing up and grabbing her sword. She has to face her fears. Knowing there are also priests involved, she already has an idea of what they are going to accuse her of what they should do why they will have to bring her back.

Troy remained quiet as he looked at the determined look on Elaina’s face. He grinned even though he was getting nervous about the outcome. Seeing her confidence alone is enough for Troy to also feel that confidence as well.

And like what they expected, the group arrived at the front gate of Elaina’s farm. Without even hesitation, they knocked the rusty gate down without a single remorse whether they were damaging someone’s property or they were just not caring at all.

As the gates fell to the ground, the figures of two people entered first, carrying authority that normal people won’t even get to understand or hope to attain in their lifetimes unless a miracle happened.

"Elaina, Elaina. Who knew that you would be fleeing here in this shabby place? Now, be a good girl and return with us. You already know the drill, yes?" Elaina’s father grinned with a sinister look on his face. As for her mother, she remained neutral for the time being, however, her condescending look behind her fan is enough to know her intentions.

Slowly moving out from the porch, Elaina faces her troubles.

"Hello, Mother and Father. It seems we have meet again."
