A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods
Chapter 358: Development

Chapter 358: Development

Elaina didn’t know but before she took in Julia in the past, she was a trained hunter by her father and mother. Since the primary business of her family before is hunting, most of the time, they handle giant beasts to hunt and kill. Since Julia is the firstborn, the moment she understood things, her parents started training her to be strong. A way that allows her to fight beasts barehanded before making a lethal kill with a tool. Most of the time, it works with regular monsters that can be hunted. Since they are sometimes multiple times the size of the young girl, she has to train a lot just to survive and avoid getting killed in the process.

In short, before Julia became a magic practitioner, she was a woman of strength and brawn. But since it has been so long since Julia stopped being one, her abilities got stagnant and although she is still stronger than regular people who don’t do any workouts, she isn’t as strong as people who are diligent in their training.

So when the training of strength appeared before them in the form of making a discipline on controlling Adelaide’s strength, she didn’t waste her time and decided that she would take advantage of that and take the lead herself on Adelaide’s training.

"Didn’t know you have some knowledge related to the brawn department," Elaina commented to Julia after seeing her formulate some plans for Adelaide.

"It’s pretty much a beginner type of training, Sis. Didn’t get to delve deep into the advanced training. If I did, I wouldn’t be this petite and would be ripped in my arms with muscles."

"Hahaha, hard to imagine you in that kind of form, but I guess it is possible. Anyways, if you plan some training methods for Ade to be stronger, make sure that it won’t be too hard on her, understood? Just remember that even if she is an adult in her mind, her body is still a baby, don’t forget that. Also, make sure that she agrees, alright? Can’t be forcing something if Ade didn’t want to do it."

"Yeah, I know that. I don’t want Ade to get hurt as well, that’s the main purpose of this plan so that it accommodates her age and body physique."

Once she had told her that, Elaina went to look for Arthur. Considering that Arthur spends most of his time with the mermaid, she wanted to at least know if Arthur is enjoying himself.

When she arrived at the back pond, the two seemed to be talking to each other. Contrary to what she would expect, it seems that the mermaid somehow understood what Arthur was saying even in his broken sentences. The two seem to be already able to understand each other.

Elaina then remembered what Adelaide said about the ability "Translator" and how one can understand a foreign language and convert it to a language he or she knows and in higher training progress, the "Translator" can translate his or her words to the words of the foreign individual, allowing each other to be able to understand without the need of learning the language from scratch.

But isn’t this really fast? Ade said to her that for Arthur to master it, he needs time and commitment to be able to master his abilities and then be able to do the conversion process of both languages and yet, it seems that Arthur has skipped the training part and is now conversing with the mermaid like normal.

"Is my son also a genius?!" Elaina couldn’t believe it.

Adelaide is a special case since she remembers her past life and knowledge. She carried over what she learned in the past into her new life so for her, immediately adapting and doing something outrageous from a kid would be something that she might be capable of due to her experiences.

Things are different for Arthur. He is not a reincarnated person nor he is holding some sort of mystical power. Although his talent is not something that can help in fighting monsters or doing anything related to combat, his social skills can be incredible and can be developed at a young age, with his Translator skill, not only will Arthur be a possible negotiations, but he can be even be considered as ambassador to many countries if he wanted to for being able to speak and understand any language he pleases.

And so, since this matter is something that Adelaide had to know, Elaina quickly informed her about this development. As expected, even she was surprised by the speed of Arthur’s mastery of his skill. However, she is quick to recover.

"I think this is something to be expected of Arthur although I didn’t think that it would also apply to his ability as well."

"You expected this?" Elaina asked.

"Yeah. You might not know much since most of what you taught him is not much, but as you can see, he didn’t need to be taught. He can see what you are doing and he will try to mimic it. He will fail a few times but he will try again and again and soon enough, he will be doing it. In just a few more tries, he will master it fast. Remember the time when I showed you how I can walk just fine? At night in the crib, around the time that you are currently sleeping, he will try his best to do his walk practices. He failed a lot but he quickly got over it and did it again and again. And before you know it, he is already walking."

"So you mean...Arthur is gifted?"

"Yeah. I think he is an advanced fast learner. He is both an auditory learner and a visual learner. I am abnormal myself but considering that I have my past life memories, you can say I am quite an exception but Arthur is not a reincarnator nor he has any sort of past life that he is hiding. He is someone who has started fresh and learned as things go."

Elaina couldn’t believe it herself. For both of her children to be "gifted" in various regards...this is something that she couldn’t just think of as a coincidence. Is it a blessing in disguise? One that the gods did while she was still pregnant with the twins? She didn’t know. Although she did occasionally visit the realm of the gods back in the past, no blessings were bestowed on her when she was still pregnant so she can’t say that it was due to the power of the gods, it seems that the two are just unique in their own circumstances that Elaina is not sure anymore.

"Looks like my study isn’t needed much anymore but I will continue to learn the language and speak it. I can’t just rely on Arthur every time to relay our message. Two is better than one, as they say. But since Arthur is now speaking clearly with her, we can now hold some little conversation with her. We need to fully understand her side and talk to her about our goal with her that we don’t mean harm."

"Let’s do that but let’s do it slow. We can’t afford to spook her out too much."

Adelaide started to talk with her and thanks to Arthur, she slowly conveyed their intent thanks to Arthur. He is speaking in broken sentences, but it is understandable and it seems that she does speak in broken sentences based on what Adelaide can understand. Elaina didn’t poke too much on the talk and let the kids do the task. She didn’t want to complicate stuff and Adelaide is already speaking most of the concerns that the mermaid might have with them which means Elaina doesn’t need to expand more. The mermaid is still a child after all and she might need more time to take all of this.

After the little talk, the mermaid went to have a rest while Arthur wanted to also sleep and have a siesta so he went inside and should be heading to sleep on Elaina’s bed. On the other hand, Elaina and Adelaide talk with one another about the result of the talk.

"Thanks to the translator ability of my brother, it seems that we finally managed to convince the little mermaid to trust us. She might be a bit wary but it will take her time to get used to our presence. I also asked her if she wanted to go back to the sea and she shook her head. It seems that her mother specifically told her to not come back for whatever reason."

"So she is indeed being hunted and her mother specifically said to herself to save herself and not worry about themselves. I thought only humans wage war most of the time but didn’t expect to see the people of the sea do these themselves."

"In my past life, they haven’t changed much. I heard news here and there and sometimes even wonder how they still didn’t get extinct considering they fight with their race most of the time. Humans unite from time to time but I never heard of unity from those races back then."

Elaina frowned about this. Now that it has come to this, Elaina is worried. Now that the little mermaid is now under her wing...those who will come for her will surely find her in the future. Until then, Elaina will make sure she will grow as a fine young lady. And if her parents are still alive, ensure that she will be reunited with them in the future.
