Chapter 357: Adelaide’s Inherited Power

Rushing to Julia’s side, she is not totally injured but she was unconscious as a result of the attack that was done by Adelaide for whatever reason. After carrying Julia and putting her on the couch, Elaina started to question Adelaide.

"Ade, can you tell me what happened? Why is Julia lying unconscious?"

"W-well, as you can see...it was an accident."

"Alright, go on. Don’t worry, I won’t be scolding you if it is really an accident."

"As you can see...Sister Julia was currently checking out on me on what I was doing. But since I can’t let her know that I am actually studying for the language of the mermaids, I didn’t want her to see. And so I wanted to push her away so that she knows that I wanted her to not disturb me and check on what I am doing...only for me to do something bad. I didn’t even know I would knock her out like that even though I wasn’t even exerting my strength."

"You pushed her away...and she ended up like that as a result..."

Although the wall wasn’t destroyed, the cabinet that was propped on the wall took all the brunt of the damage, destroying it and everything inside completely. Fortunately for Elaina, the cabinet didn’t have anything valuable present there aside from souvenirs and other items that are easily replaceable. Not only that but it was barely filled either. Still, now that it has broken in the process, she has to buy a new cabinet.

"But how in the world did you knock her out like that? Ade, do you have any powers or anything like super strength or enhanced physique? If so, you definitely exerted too much to Julia to cause her to get on that accident. Even if it was an accident, you will still need to apologize to her later once she wakes up."

"I know, Mom. But I just realized that I have this kind of ability. This is very dangerous and seeing how I have done something like that to Sis Julia, I am worried I might do it on accident to the others."

"This ability, is it strength based or do you need to control it like how you use magic?" Elaina asked.

"I don’t know much, even I have only experienced this in this life as I am not this strong back in my past life. I only got strong but it was due to training and even then, I couldn’t be as strong as I was with what I did earlier."

Elaina now understood Adelaide’s abilities. And how come she has this ability. An ability that she have inherited from her father.

"Alright, Ade. Continue on your work. We will have to practice your strength later as that would be a dangerous thing if you suddenly use it without realizing. You might end up hurting the others who are not as sturdy as Julia."

Then, Julia woke up and grumbled from what she just heard. "I am sorry I was too sturdy, alright? Urgh...I didn’t expect to be shoved before I can realize what happened. Even with the temporary barrier in my body, that damage was enough to knock me out for a few minutes. That is not just something out of regular stuff. Also, Sis and Adelaide-chan. That was quite an interesting topic you two have been discussing. Mind if I join in?"

Adelaide and Elaina turned to look at each other and sighed after the realization hits in.

...

...

...

"I see now. I was expecting something really outrageous but this just topped what I would have expected. You two have been hiding such a big secret that even I was not safe from being kept in the dark."

"Well, the lesser people who knew, the better. I don’t want the identity of my daughter to be spread around too much. Even to others as well. Too many people to know is just the same as announcing it publicly. In short, I wanted to keep it a confidential thing for Ade. You know how reincarnators are capable of many things you know?"

"Don’t worry, Sis. I know and you two were right from keeping it a secret even from me. Still, sad that it ended up still being known by me but I guess you two should be discreet in talking about this matter openly. Even with some people who are unconscious or asleep, it is still best to have that conversation with just the two of you and that is the bad part on the two of you keeping it a secret."

Ade scratches her head while Elaina sighed and looked at Julia. "Hope you don’t say anything to the others yes?"

Julia nodded in response. "You don’t need to worry, actually. Now that I know how troublesome the secret you two are currently hiding, this secret is something else and it is indeed better off to remain as a secret. And you two made a good choice at minimizing the people who knows this matter. The less people who knows, the less chances it will be spread to other people."

She stood up and started stretching for a bit before she can feel the pain in her lower back which was caused by the impact of the attack that she received from her earlier.

"Damn, even with the barrier, that almost broke my spine in half. I am fortunate I am still alive while still retaining my spine in the current situation."

"Is it that bad?" Adelaide felt worried.

"Not to worry, Ade. It certainly surprised the heck out of me but it was not enough to break me to pieces," Julia said that with confidence.

"So, what do you think about the current situation that Ade is in, Sis? She really did inherit the power from the guy himself, yes?" Elaina asked.

Julia confidently nodded. "Sure enough, she did. I have seen your ex-husband do his ability a few times I am already quite aware of how things worked for him. Ade inherited the abilities from him."

"Inherited?" Adelaide looked confused.

"As you can see, your good-for-nothing father seems to have shared his ability to you which allowed you to use it. Do you want me to properly explain? With how Sis don’t have much information regarding this power and how she can properly explain it in regular terms, I am your best bet in understanding what you can do."

"You don’t mince your words, do you, Julia?" Elaina chuckled.

"Hey, its the truth. And you already know me as such, Sis so get used to it."

Elaina chuckled but nodded in response to what Julia have just said earlier. "She is right, though, Ade. And if you want to understand your ability, Julia can properly explain it. I can’t do much in explaining it as I am not capable of understanding magic terms and such, that is why you will have an easier time understanding if you listen to her in the first place."

She might have seen it multiple times since it was the most used magic ability that her ex-husband frequently uses but she does not understand how it works and how strong it was. With Julia however, things are different and she has already have an idea on how to properly explain it.

"Alright, Sis Julia. Can I please hear it?"

Julia nodded but she wiped her skin for a bit. "Even though I have already expected this reaction, I still feel chills and goosebumps talking to you Ade. With how you are already old in terms of age, it feels weird that you call me Sis."

"Just treat Ade like her regular age right now, Julia. She might be technically older than us but that doesn’t change that she is my daughter."

"I know, Sis. Don’t worry. I can manage. Anyways, you wanted to know what it was, isn’t it? Well, your ability is still magic and not just some sort of magical innate ability. You have control on that and it was a dangerous thing if you decided to use it as a weapon."

Julia then started explaining things to Adelaide that in Elaina’s ears are all jargon she barely understood. By the time Julia is done explaining, Adelaide has already gotten a rough understanding on what this ability entails for her.

"Enhancement magic, huh? It sounds neat but it is something I wasn’t expecting to get in this life as a bonus. Still a bit strange to use, to be honest," Adelaide said as she swings her arm around.

"Do you understand now your ability, Ade?" Elaina asked.

"A little bit. It wasn’t complicated, it just needed some sort of restraint. I will have to train its control to ensure that I won’t just accidentally use this ability and hurt anyone all of a sudden. It would be a big disaster if I end up crippling innocent people just because I accidentally stretch out my arms."

"Indeed, Ade my dear. Which is why we will take advantage of that knowledge to train that early. While you are still a kid right now, we will have to train that earlier so that you can advance and use it to your advantage in the future," Julia grinned. Based on her grin, Elaina seems to have some idea on what Julia is currently planning. And she can’t help but be worried at Adelaide at this one.
