Chapter 344: Company Reform

CRASH!

BANG!

THUD!

The group of men that tried to assault Elaina was met with a counter, causing them to not expect the situation they are in. The two men have already been knocked out, while the other guy is lying on the ground and pinned with her feet as Elaina plays with the bottle throwing it in the air and catching it.

"You lot are all talk, I guess. I do wonder why you all decided to attack me when I started calling you out. Does that mean the truth actually hurts?"

"Dammit!" the man that Elaina is pinning is gritting his teeth. He couldn’t believe that even him can’t get up.

"So, if anyone wanted to attack me for being a normal boss of this company, then go ahead. After all, you lot are already fired. You might as well try to quell your anger and beat me up, I guess. Take back your position and perhaps you lot might consider letting you stay."

Hearing this...the employees who are now at risk of losing their jobs has decided to fight back.

"ATTACK HER!"

After a series of whacks and kicks, majority of the employees have already been knocked unconscious by Elaina. What is more embarrassing is that they got knocked out without being able to fight back. Both men and women are unconscious on the floor. As for the others, seeing the wreck that the others have experienced, majority backed out instead of facing Elaina head-on. The one who decided to fight back, all looked like drunkards lying on the ground.

Many of the employees are not liking Elaina’s attitude at all. At first, they thought she was just joking but now, they are getting the feeling of being threatened by their jobs. Elaina announcing that she is the new owner was something they didn’t expect. After all, when she arrived, she didn’t exude the same feeling as their boss. Not only that, she looks more simpler to look at. Her clothes are not even showing signs he was a nobility. He looks like a farmer more than a business owner.

"No more challengers?"

As much as these employees wanted to get back at Elaina, they couldn’t even beat her even in group battle. She was even unarmed and yet she remained unscathed.

"Well, seems that everyone has given up. Good to know that you lot knows when to give up at least. Now, here comes on why I am firing you lot."

Grabbing an empty chair, she sat there and put her business personality back, crossing her legs and her arms. Even in regular farmer clothes, she looks menacing for the people.

"First, I hate lazy people- wait, scratch that, lazy people are innovative people that would make work easier by creating shortcuts and creative ways to finish work faster than regular and I don’t hate them but encourage them to do so as long as they are doing their work properly. You lot are not even lazy, just plain stationary people, waiting for input. Even machines work harder than you lot. What are your purpose for even staying in the office if all you lot will do is drink in the middle of work, or just straight up tell the customers to do self service? What about these mountain of papers that are stuck? The orders and more? So many people and the work is barely finished. What are you all doing?"

"Second point, there are so many of you, and yet not a single one of you are working besides this big guy here. Aren’t you all embarrassed? Just so you know, this guy could be in a more decent job than paperwork and yet here you all are, showing some superiority even though I don’t see any superior traits in any of you lot. I am so confused as to what you lot are even coming to work for if working seems like a chore to most people?"

"Third, this business rely on constant influx of customers and product orders...and look here now. This was supposed to be a place where customers should be flowing in and out while other workers are also doing their work...and yet I don’t see any workers."

Majority of the people who would talk back are knocked out so all of those who are left behind are scared of Elaina. The way the other employees were subdued are not a joke. Someone who can knock out a person in less than 5 seconds is someone who knows how to deal with them with ease. Everyone instinctively knew that fighting against her is a lost cause and it would be more beneficial to quit while they have yet to taste pain.

"Alright. Starting today, I will do a company reform. I will root out all the bad things that this company is currently doing and tailor it so that it will work as a business that will bring in money and resources. And people like you lot are not welcome in this company. Pack your bags and go, before I change my mind and join these people lying on the ground."

The remaining employees began to pack their belongings as soon as they can and didn’t even bother to care on the remaining items they have and quickly fled before things gets bad.

Elaina then turned to the big guy who is still shocked at what is happening.

"As for you, since you are doing good work, you will get a bonus. For the time being, we will have to clean this place up and drag these guys outside. What do you say?"

Seeing the state of the people on the floor despite having a big body, he didn’t decline and quickly nodded to ensure that he will not join their ranks of getting bodied by the boss.

The situation of the Zangrande Merchant Group’s current situation is quite bad. Seeing the accounts and ledgers, it seems that some merchants are doing what they want now due to how the employees have been doing nothing for years now. It is troublesome and will take time and resources to recover. It will be hard, but not too hard.

"Here are the remaining records of the funds that has accumulated these past months. Although I try my best at compiling the data, I am not that good at it and just copied the old data looks to replicate the results. There might be some inaccurate data here and there," the big guy said while wiping his sweat. Being in this close proximity with Elaina is making him feel nervous and scared. He can’t afford to mess up or else he will also get fired.

The data on the paper is indeed not so accurate but Elaina can see the calculations are close enough. It was even a miracle that someone who don’t know how to handle data like this was able to replicate this stuff by just copying an old one.

"You are pretty capable for a big guy. What is your name?" Elaina asked.

"Ah...My name is Randolph..."

"Original job?"

"Inventory checker and product collector. I also help out on doing heavy jobs like lifting heavy objects."

"Interesting. And yet you are doing regular clerk’s work. Why is that? Aren’t they supposed to do this themselves instead of leaving this to someone other than you?"

"I-I don’t know, Boss. I just followed their instructions as I was threatened by them that I will lose my job if I don’t do anything related to those orders and the next thing I knew, the job has been handed to me by the majority of the group."

Elaina sighed and dropped the papers on the table and stood up.

"Alright, I will seeing that you are my only helper for now, I will assign you as my temporary secretary for now. If I see your work as something satisfactory to me, I will promote you and allow you to keep your job as secretary. I will also give you payment that is equal to secretaries should make. Now, since we are on this situation, I will be doing the mass reform of the whole business and with that, we will need employees. Perform a recruitment notice tomorrow to the Adventurer’s guild. In the meantime, I will handle the other things that is related to the merchants. Since you will begin your regular work tomorrow as secretary, your work for today should stay in what you work the best until a new replacement will handle the work themselves process the orders and get them to be sent out to the merchants who are still not corrupt and capable of handling the goods. The sooner we repair the reputation of this failing business, the better."

Randolph shook his head. "Boss, I am not going to agree being a temporary secretary. There is one more person in this company that can fulfill the job better than me. I would rather do the work I know the best and do it than do something I don’t have any experience with."

A person who is right for the secretarial job? Elaina furrowed her brows.

"Where is she though? Unless this person is among the people I knocked out."

"No, she was not among these people. She stormed out before you have arrived so you two missed each other. Well, she got pissed earlier due to the behavior of our coworkers so she went for smoke break. She should be back a little later."

Hearing her reasoning for smoke break seems to be logical especially with what she have seen earlier. Perhaps she will see who this person is and if she is indeed capable to be her secretary. Elaina will do anything to ensure that this business works and she can focus on making her products be spread to the world.
