The Zangrande Merchant Group was considered quite a big group of merchants that traded with one another from various kingdoms with valuable goods like pepper, salt, tobacco, tea, and other commodities that many nobilities likes to buy and considers them as items very valuable. They trade them alongside with other goods that other people might need and are only available to buy in other countries and kingdoms. A very important business for both nobilities and regular people.

But lately, due to the crazy practices that the merchants of the Zangrande Merchant Group, many have decided to either stop buying from them or choose to find other merchants who are not associated to the business group. Which is why the merchant group is now getting bad reputation.

Elaina only heard the rumors about it but she is not sure much. So when her brother has already confirmed that the business is already confirmed to be hers and only the processing of papers left to finish everything, Elaina decided to manage it even though she considers it as pain in the arse. She can take advantage of this to export her goods, not just circulate it around Darcero Kingdom. After all, the God of Farming tasked her of spreading the plants and goods to the whole world. What is a better way to do it, other than to spread it herself? And a merchant group will actually help fulfill that step.

Before she went, she went to work on the farm for a bit and assisted the Feys from the work. It wasn’t much since the harvest day just ended, so it didn’t take too long before they are done with the current work. Now that she is done with farm work, she left to check the office situation and manage the business. If she didn’t like how it is working right now, she will reform the business to her liking. Now that she owns the business, she needed to know whether those merchants would be staying or would they be leaving.

The office of the Zangrande Merchant Group should have been in the Luminiera Kingdom. However, after the deaths of the original owners, the main base has been switched to the branch that was present on Darcero Kingdom especially since the new owner is now a Darcero Kingdom resident.

Her arrival on the establishment was unannounced so the employees of the merchant group was too lax and are currently not doing their job properly. Stacks of papers are very high and many other inquiries that should have been handled as soon as possible has been staying dormant, ready to be forgotten anytime.

So when Elaina arrived on the office, she was immediately greeted with a laidback, lazy attitude by the workers who didn’t recognize her just yet. They thought she was just some regular customer.

"Oh, if you have some orders, just head over to the second table and just write your order before leaving your payment as well. If you have some concerns or perhaps some sort of trouble in our service, just head to the first table and write them as well," the girl who is currently painting her nails said, as she redirects Elaina to whatever her concerns were.

Elaina is already expecting the treatment to be bad, but she didn’t expect it to be THAT bad. The attitude of the workers are not something that should be displayed to the customers at all. And the service has also turned into something of a self care service despite the workers stationed should be the ones doing the job. So it wasn’t just rumors. Those things that the customers were saying are all real deal.

Seeing this bad state, Elaina can only facepalm herself. Just how did her parents even manage to hire these incompetent fools and still able to run the business? Or perhaps they only work if there are higher-ups around and will start to laze and relax the moment those feared higher-ups disappear from their sight.

She have seen these fair share of people back in her Empress days, but she have not seen a business where everyone are just this lazy and incompetent. She is disappointed to the point that she wanted to close down the business at once.

Just when she thought things had gotten worse, she heard a loud thud, followed by someone falling to the ground with lots of papers falling in his hands.

"Oy, come on, lazybum. There are lots of things to do, you better hurry things up. You have a big body and yet you work so slow. Totally incompetent."

The man in question was a very big guy. One might even mistake him for a mercenary or a thug with his body build. The only thing that made him less threatening was the uniform that all the employees of the Zangrande Merchant Group, making him look like a regular worker, just with a big body. But what made Elaina surprised is that the big guy didn’t even bother to talk back or even use his body to threaten the guy who caused him to fall to the floor. He just silently picked the papers one by one without a word while the other employees were making fun of him.

Seeing workplace bullying like this, Elaina can’t afford to just turn a blind eye and ignore this. This business is rightfully hers now. If these incompetent people are bullying someone who is working, then this place can crash and burn for all she cares. These people have to know.

She crouched and picked the papers one by one as well which made the big guy to be surprised. Elaina made a quick glance at the papers and realized that the papers were actually order papers that were from various customers. With a stack that much, it must have meant that there was a lot of piled-up work, and yet the people working were not even moving an inch aside from this big guy who got bullied.

"Miss, it’s alright. This was my work anyways, you don’t need to help me."

"Don’t worry. I will help and insist on it. What those guys did is not something that they should be doing. Don’t they feel embarrassed about doing this? Aren’t they afraid of losing their work?"

When Elaina said that, one of the men who laughed at the big guy answered her question. "Ma’am. If this guy was doing the work, then there is no need for us to do the work at all. He is quite good at his job that we won’t even need to lift a finger since his works are enough!"

"He works hard and he is quite capable as well. It would be a shame if we just stop him from doing some quality work, you know?"

After that, the men started laughing again. Elaina noticed that those men are even drinking while on the job. It was like they are just hanging out in a nearby food stall and enjoying their day off...except that they are not and they are not enjoying their day off.

Handing the papers to the big guy, Elaina stood up and looked up at the men who said those words earlier. "Did you guys say the truth?"

The first guy who answered earlier answered once more. "Yes ma’am! So if you have anything you want to be processed, you can talk to him. Pretty useful to have around!"

Elaina smiled and looked at the guys with a confident look on her face. "Are you all sure about what you guys are saying? This guy is too reliable you lot felt like you are all not needed?"

"Ha, it really do feel like that. But we are just honoring what he was doing. After all, he is dedicated to the job! Hahahaha!"

They began to toast and started chugging the drinks in their mugs and laughed wholeheartedly. The big guy is just embarrassed hearing it but also a bit disheartened as well.

With the confirmation of the guys, Elaina nodded in response. "Great to know. Now I don’t have any bad feelings on why I will be firing each and every single one of you except him who is working."

The other workers who were lazing around had their eyebrows frowned.

"Ha? And who are you to decide that? Just because the owners have been executed doesn’t mean a random customer can decide that they will become the boss of this establishment."

"Valid response. But I do have a say on this as I have officially become the new owner of this business as a result of inheritance. With the former owners executed, the lawyers immediately followed the will that Mr. Zangrande made before he was executed and had the business transferred to his daughter’s name. Of course, it has been a few days since then. And with the process being finalized as we speak, you can say I already have the controlling powers to fire each and every single one of you."

The men who were still drinking got agitated and stood up, picking up the empty bottles on their tables. "Hey, don’t mess with us. Just because you are a woman, doesn’t mean we will not do anything."

"Hmph, feel free to attack if you all want. Nothing will change, you lot will still be fired."

This makes the men stop containing their anger and attack Elaina with bottles in their hands...only for Elaina to knock them one by one before they can do anything.

"Foolish workers who only laze around and do nothing while the one who is doing all the work is being bullied by them have no place in this company and my management. If you guys tried to complain, then feel free to do so. Let’s see who will laugh the last laugh."
