Chapter 330: Three Box

"[After your big reveal yesterday, I decided to revise the mission that I have given to you. It is such a disappointing turn of events for me after realizing that you can’t tame any of the monsters inside. Considering that different monsters might spawn in the labyrinth, it was such a waste to see them and yet we cannot capture them. Which is why I devised these new tasks. However, the target monsters is now located in a different place.]" the Goddess of Taming explained.

"In a different place?" Elaina frowned. Is the Goddess of Taming asking her to enter different dungeons?

"[Yeah. Remember the mines? Yeah, your targets will be located there. Not only that but I also added a new task for you related to the mines.]"

Elaina was surprised that the Goddess of Taming is now targeting the mines. "Let me guess, you wanted me tame the monsters that are present there, is that it?"

"[That is one part of the mission, but that is a sort of side quest rather than a main quest. Your main task in the mines would be to explore the deepest part of the mines and learn the secrets there. And while you are there, tame whatever monsters present there that will contribute with the farm.]"

Explore the deepest part of the mines? But even her is not aware how deep it is. And yet her main task is to explore it? Does that mean she is tasked of digging deeper and deeper, heading to the depths that she didn’t know just yet?

"[I know the task is a bit of daunting, Elaina, but that is not a task I designed you to be able to do in one go. Gradually explore it and earn rewards depending on how deep the mines. You get to receive the respective rewards the deeper you head down the mines. Of course, the floors you previously unlocked are part of it. You can say that these rewards I prepared should motivate you to head deeper that mines.]"

"Is there a secret that I was supposed to know in this mine, Goddess of Taming?" Elaina asked.

"[Glad you asked. Actually, your guess is correct. There is indeed something that we wanted you to check. Well...it was actually my father who asked this after he heard of the mines and how it works differently. He said there must be something there that he wanted to know how this mines despite being a regular mining place seems to be more akin to a dungeon and labyrinth combined together. Not only that but its ability to slow down the time once someone entered the place, that is something that never existed before.]"

"This mission sounded so hard...are you sure this is achievable by me? This doesn’t seem to be plausible by myself..." Elaina is intimidated by this mission alone. And for her, who have various task to do, this sounded like something that she might forgot eventually.

"[As I said before, this is not something that you will be doing with the intention that you will achieve all the task in one go. Eventually, you will be achieving this naturally. I can tell that you will be exploring the mines deeper and deeper right? Otherwise, you will not further go down under even after you got all the necessary minerals back then.]"

Elaina then realized it. Although it was unconsciously being done, the Goddess of Taming is correct. She would have already stopped gathering those minerals after gathering them before on floor 5 and floor 10. And yet she continued descending until now that she arrived at the small village of the dwarves on the mines. There is no excuse on it anymore.

"[So don’t worry about not finishing the task in one go. Heck, can you even slowly do it once you are free or if you wanted to do it. There is no rush.]"

Elaina sighed in relief. Knowing that there is no need for her to rush to do the mission, she will not be pressured about it.

After the information was relayed, the Goddess of Taming processed the rewards that Elaina will be receiving for achieving the milestones achievements that she put for her new mission. The mission was added to the Almanac’s missions list. It was on a unique page this time around as the task was put into a ladder type. There are two types of missions the Goddess of Taming had, the taming ones and the descending progress.

The descending progress has three bars glowing that she can touch to confirm the completion, the "Reach 10th floor", "Reach 20th floor", and "Reach 30th floor" which are all progress that Elaina achieved not too long ago with the 30th floor the location of the Village of the dwarves.

She touched the three glowing bars, claiming the three rewards. As soon as the rewards were confirmed, all of a sudden, three huge packages landed to the front door, surprising Shardu who was just sleeping near the doorway. Elaina saw that personally which allowed her to know one of the method the gods used to drop those reward packages. Still, Elaina do wonder why the Gods designated her front door as the drop off location of each package. It was like she bought something from a store and had it personally delivered to her doorway without her heading to the drop-off center.

Even Elaina was surprised by the rewards that are given. Since she can’t see what the rewards are on the Almanac’s mission page, she is unsure what those rewards were in the first place. However, she is also excited to see the rewards being given to her. Rewards that she have accomplished by herself.

Shardu is sniffing the boxes one by one cautiously. It was natural as for Shardu, these boxes just appeared out of nowhere, disturbing Shardu’s peaceful sleep.

"Sniffed anything interesting, Shardu?" Elaina asked.

Shardu snorted before going back to the regular position that Shardu usually stays on with an annoyed expression. It seems it can’t smell anything on those boxes. But why those big boxes in particular? She is not sure. But she decided to check.

Opening the first box, as soon as she opened the box, her head started hurting and she started clutching her temple. It was like she got struck with a blunt object because of how painful it was. It took her a few seconds before she finally managed to get her bearings again. When she checked the contents of the box...she found the box empty.

"Wait, empty? What is going-" before she can finish saying things, a sharp pain suddenly panged her consciousness and all of a sudden, Elaina gained a lot of information all of a sudden. Information and knowledge that Elaina is quite sure she have not learned before. However, it entered her mind and fully integrated itself like she was already knowledgeable about it.

Once the pain subsided, Elaina has earned her first reward. Knowledge related to taming monsters and beasts alike. Elaina even had to look at her hands and proceed to close and open her palm just to ensure she was not dreaming.

"Does that mean the first reward is the knowledge and experience of becoming a tamer?" Elaina was surprised. She is quite sure she didn’t experienced them first hand...and yet she can also feel that the experience is real and fully integrated in her memories. Forgetting them is no longer a thing.

Once she confirmed that her first reward was that, the box that she opened disintegrated and disappeared. But now that she learned about the first box, Elaina had an idea on what the second box is. Opening the second box, her prediction is correct. The second box contains a magical trap cage that can shrink and enlarge if necessary and a few beast traps that looked like the traditional bear traps, but are much bigger and are designed that only beast will be captured and will not be triggered by the trappers unless the trapper wanted to trap humans or humanoid creatures.

The knowledge came along with the first box that she first opened. It was so naturally integrated to her mind, she didn’t even question how she learned what those things are despite seeing them the first time in her life.

Still, these two trap items are great things that she can use in the future. After all, some monsters will be hard to tame in the future with just the regular taming process that she did with the Hencluckles. Traps and cages will do the trick for safe taming process.

Now, Elaina is on the third box. A box that she had no idea what could be inside. The second box’s contents is something she had predicted based on the experience she gained on the first box. But what could be inside the third box? And out of the three boxes, this is the only box that is small. The box is just as big as a box that would contain a wedding ring.

Curious, she slowly opened it up, revealing the content of the third box.

"A harmonica?"
