Chapter 329: Labyrinth Soil
Chapter 329: Labyrinth Soil
The next day, Elaina didn’t wake up as early as she should have. Perhaps her excursion the other day left her drained, and she wanted to sleep a little bit more for once. When she woke up, it was already past the time for breakfast, and there were two more hours left before lunch.
Her babies are already out which means Julia already feed the two. Thankfully, they no longer have the constant need to be fed with breast milk, otherwise, those two would have been crying a lot by now.
Once she finished washing up and changing her clothes, she went downstairs where she saw her two babies being spoonfed by Julia on the table.
"Sorry for waking up late, Julia, and for doing what I should have been doing..." Elaina scratches her head, embarrassed.
"What are you embarrassed for? This should be normal and besides, you were so exhausted last night that I decided to not wake you up while you were asleep. Sometimes, it is great to indulge in sleeping a bit more than usual."
Sitting down on the chair next to Julia, Elaina grabbed the toast from the toaster and spread some melted butter on it before putting another toast on top of it to make it like a sandwich. "That won’t do, Julia. Just so you know I needed to wake up early rather than wake up late. I can’t afford to sleep that long, you know."
Julia gave Elaina the side-eye after her statement. "I wouldn’t have complained if you were not sleeping too late at night but you were still awake at night you needed more sleep. I know you are a farmer and you have duties to do, but please balance out your life sometimes as well."
Elaina couldn’t say anything at that as she had not slept early these past few days. But she doesn’t have that kind of luxury either. After all, daylight is short and work is endless. But she didn’t bother to complain to Julia. After all, she is telling the truth.
...
...
...
After breakfast, Elaina headed to the mini garden meant for the herbs and medicinal herbs. The Feys are doing the work and she barely has any need to interrupt their work so she doesn’t bother to interrupt them. Besides, it has yet to enter the phase of harvesting so she decided to do other stuff to fulfill the tasks that the gods are asking her.
And this time, she is trying to test something and that is to use the soil she plundered in the labyrinth.
Carrying the dimensional storage bag with her, she slowly pulls out the ceramic pots that contain the labyrinth soil out of the bag. She made sure to do it slowly to ensure that the pots would not suddenly break to pieces if she did something wrong.
Once all the pots were out, she also pulled out the plastic bag that contained the soil she plundered. This plastic bag was a byproduct of magic that is eco-friendly and can be easily disposed of. Because they are much more durable than paper bags, they are regularly used by many and became a popular thing to be used as container or trash bags.
This plastic bag she was holding was supposed to be a trash bag she wanted to use to contain meat from the beasts she hunts in the forest. But it became a useful thing to contain the soil directly without spilling inside the bag.
With the soil out of the bag, Elaina once again inspected the whole thing and made sure that she is not just thinking it was a good soil.
"The soil is indeed perfect and good to use. I don’t think this is something I would be able to create normally. Talk about luck finding them."
Now that she confirmed the soil is good to use, she readies all of the medicinal herbs that was meant as replacement to the herbs that was supposed to grow on the four seasons field but ended up getting squashed by the boss. She is thankful that the gods are not angry for her wasting the precious plants.
With the replacements in hand, Elaina decided to not plant the medicinal herbs in the four seasons field to ensure that it will remain safe. Who knows when the next boss will suddenly appear and make a ruckus?
With all the soil she had, she decided to divide the soil to the pots and empty planting spots and filled then with soil that would be used to grow the herbs. She made sure that they are properly filled and not just filled a little.
Once she is satisfied on the soil distribution, she started planting the herbs. She followed the instructions on the Almanac and made sure every delicate saplings are properly taken care of.
It took Elaina around an hour and a half to fully plant everything down. Since those saplings don’t grow from seeds but are given as grown saplings, means that their seeds are either hard to procure or they just don’t grow as seeds and are grown in regular saplings form.
With all the saplings planted on their respective areas and pots, she then grab the watering can that has less use now due to the sprinklers she had installed in the farm now. Thankfully, the tool is still useful.
Filling the watering can with water, she then headed to the newly planted saplings and watered them one by one.
However, something peculiar happened and she wasn’t expecting it either.
"What the? Are my eyes tricking me?"
Elaina rub her eyes a few times before she returned her gaze to the saplings she planted and watered. And this time around, she is not just wrong this time around. She have seen it properly.
The saplings she planted are firmly in their pots and still in growing phase. However, when Elaina began watering the plants one by one, the saplings that should only be refreshed from getting watered suddenly had a growth spurt and now the supposedly saplings are now one step away from reaching the harvesting stage. One can even say that they are now ready to be harvested if necessary!
"God of farming! Can you explain what is going on?!"
"[Wow... I have seen rapid growth fertilizers like the fertilizers the Harvest Goddess makes but that thing is not capable of making a sapling newly planted to grow in the same day!]" the God of Farming is flabbergasted.
Elaina is still not convinced and decided to water the other plants as well to ensure that she might just be wrong this time around... Only to be proven wrong as the saplings began to grow rapidly.
"[Wait, is it because of the soil? Elaina, can you pack a bit of soil? Not too many of course. Perhaps a small paper bag worth of soil. I will have to check the components of the soil and see it for myself if this was indeed the main cause though I think it was already natural.]"
Elaina nodded and quickly packed a bit of soil and placed it inside a small plastic bag.
"How should I send this to you, God of Farming? Elaina asked.
"[Just hand it over to the green parrot that should be perching nearby. And I will do the rest.]"
Just like the God of Farming said, a green parrot appeared and perched on the nearby lamp post not too far from her.
Elaina approached the bird and from the looks of it, it is indeed waiting for her to give the soil sample the God of Farming is asking to get. As soon as she handed the small bag containing the soil samples the God of Farming was asking for.
The parrot took it by the beak and just like that, the bird flies away and disappears like it didn’t just visit the place.
"[The samples arrived safely. Until then, don’t use the soil until I am certain what they are, Elaina. Of course, you don’t need to uproot those you have planted already and let them grow. But don’t further use them at the moment. Seeing their effects, I don’t want things you grow might cause some problems we will not anticipate.]"
"Understood. Even I is reluctant to use this soil now. Even the fertilizers aren’t this fast in growing plants. This is just insane speed!"
The God of Farming then went silent as Elaina is left alone with the plants that she recently planted. She was so surprised by how the changes of the growth rate is just too big. She is not happy at all even though the plants are growing fast. It was like she is not growing a regular plant anymore and is growing something bad.
Still, just like what the God of Farming said, she didn’t uproot the newly planted saplings and let them grow as she watered them.
While she was watering the plants, the Goddess of Taming started to talk to Elaina, taking over the space that the God of Farming took.
"Elaina, I have a different task for you this time around regarding the monsters on the labyrinth as my previous task is something that can be done.]
Another task... she just hopes that it won’t be too hard.
