Chapter 319: Dungeon Farm Defense
Chapter 319: Dungeon Farm Defense
Back when Elaina was plunged alone into the forest, with nothing but a sword so heavy for her to use to defend herself, Elaina met many monsters that threatened her life many times.
She cannot count how many times she almost became a monster dinner due to the enemies being stronger than her. However, she overcomes the challenge and wins and she uses that experience to remain a steadfast woman who can overcome challenges that come her way. Whether it is human or not, she will deal with them.
And the situation before her is another problem that she is facing.
"Miss Farmer! It’s really dangerous! We will handle this and defend until the high-ranking adventurers are dispatched to help out!" one of the soldiers who recognized Elaina exclaimed while he gripped his weapon tightly.
"Don’t worry, I can also fight. But can I ask why this monster is here in the first place?"
"Someone lured it in here when it was in its berserk state and since it locked in on that adventurer, it followed all the way to the top and squeezed itself inside the barrier even though it ended up causing several problems on its body. Perhaps because it is in pain, the monster destroyed the farmland using its huge weapon."
Elaina is pissed that the hard work that she spent cultivating has been reduced to a mess after a measly rampage of a monster.
"Miss Farmer, it’s best to back off for a bit to be safe from that monster..." the guard insisted.
"NO.WAY," a hard and stern word from Elaina made the guard shiver after feeling the stare he received from Elaina.
Entering combat stance, Elaina slowly approached the rampaging monster. It didn’t care who it was fighting, it used its spiked club to smash everything in sight.
"Quite a tall monster. A monster with a bullhead and a muscular body, weapon, a spiked club, and enough armor to cover the chest and groin....based on its looks, this is..." As the spiked club tried to smash Elaina, a quick motion in Elaina’s feet allowed her to reposition herself as she continued to mumble.
"...a Minotaur? Yeah, no this should be just a monster bull. The likes of you are more of a monster than a humanoid. Despite its muscular body and exposed areas vulnerable to attack, it seems the muscle of this monster is capable of handling a few hits."
The other soldiers felt a bit confused and a bit troubled seeing Elaina dodge the enemy like nothing. Just by watching, it was like she was dancing with the enemy despite this little dance being a battle to the death. Adventurers are having a hard time and yet, she does not even care much.
It seemed the monster bull is pissed seeing how Elaina is doing fine even though she is having trouble. It raises its club once again and targets Elaina who is still looking at the monster from head to toe.
"Bulky but too much muscle. A bit less would be better and I think I can help with that."
After saying that, Elaina disappeared from where she was standing earlier and blood splatter suddenly scattered all around. Then, Elaina reappeared again, sheathing her sword.
"Ugh...just using that skill is something that I wouldn’t want to do again. It drains a lot of my stamina..." Elaina sighed as the monster bull’s scream echoed inside the cave. The move she used allowed her to rapidly attack a certain area repeatedly, dealing rapid cuts to cut through thick bones. She doesn’t use this ability most of the time as this is taxing to do but if she does do it, that’s because it was easier to subdue enemies this fast.
"W-what just happened?!" the other adventurers who were there, ready to support Elaina were flabbergasted. They weren’t even expecting her to just do that in a battle like this.
The monster bull roared in pain as it gripped its severed arm. It was so clean of a cut that no one would think that Elaina did multiple swings on that part for her to cleanly sever its arm in the process. If only this was not that taxing to use an ability, Elaina would not hesitate to use it for enemies.
Snarling angrily, the monster bull tried to reach out to its severed arm and was about to pick the spiked club when Elaina smiled and glared at the minotaur who was a few meters away from its weapon that is still gripping it. "I wouldn’t do that if I were you."
If it were a person, it would definitely have hesitation picking it up...but because this monster has lost its sanity since earlier, even if Elaina tried to intimidate it, there is no way it will be intimidated in any manner.
It’s hands gripped the handle of the club but before it could fully clench its hand to the weapon, something flew in the sky followed by a lot of blood. It isn’t even an exaggeration to say that it is raining blood.
THUD!
A loud echo silences everyone as their eyes focus on the thing that flies in the air before landing on the ground. Before them is the severed monster head that Elaina cleanly chopped off the enemy. The monster that they thought would be an unstoppable threat died in the hands of a farmer.
"Extermination complete," Elaina said as she flicked off her sword to the side, removing the blood on her blade.
After doing so, she sheathed her sword and looked at the mess that was previously on her farm. Not a single plant that she planted there survived and even the sprinkler and the item that should be protecting those plants is not available as well as the monster smashed the thing to smithereens.
"Ugh...that f*cking beast..."
The people watching Elaina were all witnesses to what happened there and they can understand why Elaina did not give any mercy. If something precious were to be taken from her hands, she wouldn’t be merciful either.
Elaina looked at the guards and the adventurers waiting there after the attack. "What are you all looking at? Clean the whole thing down. The place stinks with blood and the dead body of this monster. The sooner it will be clean, the better."
Hearing that, afraid Elaina would do something again that would shiver down their spine, the adventurers and guards didn’t waste time and cleaned up the mess. All the blood and flesh that are splattered all over the place are slowly being cleaned up.
Seeing that everyone was now working on cleaning up the whole mess, Elaina got closer to her smashed plants and devices on the field and sighed. She thought there would be at least one or two plants that can still be salvaged but seeing everything reduced to paste, one can only feel glum.
"Ugh...what a great day..."
...
...
...
The incident made some big waves to the adventurer’s sphere and how the bull monster was singlehandedly destroyed by Elaina in battle which left most people in shock.
The rumors and stuff that they are passing to others at first were regular and what Elaina did without any sort of additional tales...but the longer the situation goes and the more ears receiving those talks, the people can’t help but exaggerate the facts.
As a result, it sounded useless and unbelievable to the point that many doubted if the attack did happen or not. As for Elaina, she didn’t care about the contents of the news and rumors surrounding her. What matters is that the monsters should stay away from the dungeon farm she has been cultivating or else there will be blood to pay.
But one thing that Elaina is thinking about is the dungeon barrier. It seems that even with the problem is done there are chances the monsters will reach town.
As a farmer, it is her duty to deal with it and make the farm work.
