Chapter 318: Test Drive Tractor

Elaina’s brother took the papers and started to help with the process of the transfer as soon as they can. He wanted to ensure that Elaina will not have any problems in the future due to the business they inherited and to also ensure that their younger sibling will not be able to use that as a way to do something for the others.

And since the progress will take a few days, Elaina and Troy are just now chilling, waiting for the final result. For Elaina it is going to be a long waiting.

But one day, it seems that little peace will be removed as a loud engine roar echoed inside the farm. One that made Elaina a bit surprised.

"What was that?" Elaina was alerted by that sound one day while she was busy finishing preparing for the day. It was quite loud at first so she thought it was some monster at first.

After equipping all the prerequisite items she needed to fend off any attacks,she grabbed her sword and head out to the farm and confront whatever was causing the ruckus.

When she arrived at the location of the ruckus, she saw everyone was gathered around a big vehicle that looked like a carriage. The only difference is that it doesn’t have a horse but the the whole thing is moving. It also puffs smoke like it was pumping out smoke every time.

"What is going on?" Elaina frowned and stared at her brother currently riding the strange vehicle chugging.

"Ah, Elaina! Perfect timing!" Troy saw Elaina and quickly turned off the strange machine’s engine before he went down from it. As soon as he got down, Troy’s coworkers began to do something to the machine, like they were adjusting a few bolts here and there.

"Brother, what was that sound earlier? That gave me a freakout! And what vehicle is this that you suddenly pull out for a test drive on my farm?" Elaina asked.

Troy chuckled and looked at the vehicle behind him that his friends are still adjusting. "This is not actually a regular vehicle for transportation, little sister. Because this is quite slow, it is better if you walk instead of using this as a vehicle for transport. Still, do you not recognize the vehicle, Elaina? Just look at the front and you will see what I am talking about."

Elaina did as she was told and saw something familiar that she didn’t expect to see.

"The Harvester? Wait...is this the tractor?"

"Although this is indeed the tractor, it is still a prototype tractor and I don’t think this was a very optimized one. We are still making adjustments to it, here and there, but it should be already capable of the basic things that the tractor should have."

"Should have? I thought the tractor existed way before?"

"It does, but we don’t have much idea why it seems to have been buried and forgotten when most of the ancient tech that existed in the past are being used till today."

"Okay, but how will this thing be able to help me harvest crops easily? Just by looking at the wheels alone, it will crush my plants before they can even do something that will help with the harvesting process."

"Ah, if you are worried about that, then don’t worry, because it was still unoptimized, this is still not intended to be used for plants that grow produce periodically. This is more designed on crops that can be harvested one time. Not only that but it also trivializes tilling the fields manually though at the moment, it seems that your blessed hoe does the job much better than this tractor. In short, it is still limited in function. We just pulled this out for a test drive to see if it will work as intended. As for when we will be able to do use it for those crops, I still don’t know as we are still making adjustments here and there."

After talking to her, Troy returned to the tractor and began to turn on the engine again which made the unusual sound reverberate once more.

"That is quite a weird sound, I tell you," Elaina shook her head.

"Yeah, we are still trying our best to remove that sound and see if there is a way to stop that from happening every time we turn it on."

Elaina sighed. So it was a false alarm and she was just thinking that those sounds were from a beast that was attacking the farm. Turned out to be just the tractor making those noises.

While Elaina is still scratching her head, the God of Farming starts to talk with Elaina.

"[Ah...the tractor. How nostalgic. It has been a long time since I have seen the tractor before and although it looked different from the one I do remember, it does resemble a lot from the machine that we use back in the day.]"

"Huh? You gods use this for farming before?" Elaina couldn’t believe her eyes reading his response.

"[Oh yes, we did. Although I don’t understand how it properly works, I do remember how it trivializes everything we do the moment we use the tractor. It is a bit fuel-hungry but it works with its job very easily that you won’t even have to worry too much about getting tired on the job now]."

"That good!?"

"[Yeah. It was that good,]" the God of Farming confirmed.

"Then can you help us complete the tractor?" Elaina asked

"[Don’t expect too much on me, Elaina. And I am the god of farming, not the machines. As much as I used the thing back in the day, I am not even capable of understanding how things on that vehicle work. It just...works. If you wanted to find someone who knows how to do things with it, you needed someone who has seen the original thing and has worked on it for quite some time. As for me, I can’t exactly qualify. Most of the things that are not related to farming like controlling various machines have already been lost in my mind the moment we ascended as gods.]"

Elaina sighed upon hearing this.

But still, hearing that the tractor is one of the essential things that helped trivialize farming in the distant past, means the tractor is very much a good deal if it was properly completed by her brother and his friends.

Elaina thought about asking the Witch herself for any valuable Intel related to the tractors only to remember that the Witch barely have seen many things since she had been in isolation for years. It would be doubtful for her to know something.

In the end, the tractor ended up being in early phase. It does it’s work, but it is still pretty much an imperfect thing and still needed lots of tune ups and other things that would allow it to function properly.

After the test drive, Troy and his friends went back to the garage to return to their work. As much as Troy wanted Elaina to have a good time driving the tractor, it is still not in a good condition and he decided to just remain with the work of improving it instead of risking of any sort of trouble.

The next day, Elaina heads out to the dungeon to visit her farm and see for herself the items that have bloom over time. The items that is being yielded by the farm on the dungeon is just top notch.

Carrying the basket, Elaina went to the dungeon only to find a lot of people coming in and out of the dungeon. Many are in distraught and seems to be tired, while some seems to be panicking but are still rushing and are looking at the cause to stop whatever is happening at the moment.

Because of this Elaina decided to head inside the dungeon and as soon as she was nearing the dungeon’s plot of land, a monster is already wrecking havoc on the surface and is being attacked by enemies again and again.

One guard who recognized Elaina spotted her about to go inside.

"Miss Farmer! It’s unsafe! Don’t enter the place until the labyrinth boss is defeated!"

"Labyrinth boss?!"

Labyrinth boss. Just like what its name implies, it is a boss that are exclusive in the labyrinth. They don’t exist in any shape or form outside of the labyrinth, making them only exist in regular labyrinths. But for a boss, it is irregular for a boss to chase it’s target all the way to the surface.

And besides, how the heck does the monster got to escape? It didn’t matter as she decided to see the situation on the farm.

One of the first things that she have seen is the destroyed plot of farmland all over the field. The barrier that she set up before to provide some protection and to also act as thief repellant, is also broken beyond repair. It was likely destroyed by something as it didn’t get broken in the process.

Elaina felt a welling rage inside her seeing all of her hard work being destroyed and leveled by the monster is something unforgivable.

One thing is certain for Elaina.

Exterminate.
