Chapter 317: Inheritance

"What is this? A letter?" Troy picks it up after it fell to the floor when the death certificates of their parents were handed to him.

"A letter? There was one slipped in between of the papers?" Elaina didn’t expect a surprise from the papers.

"It is currently addressed for you, Sis. There’s even a stamp of approval from the King. Look here," Troy then showed Elaina the envelope with the stamp by the royalty that she have seen from the carriage of Princess Margaux and Princess Tabatha. Below is her name printed with magic.

"You are right, it is addressed to me. But who would send me a letter like this? Is there no sign of the sender here?" Elaina frowned as she do not have any idea who would send any letter like this.

"I don’t see any signs. Perhaps this stamp is enough to say who the letter came from?" Troy inspected the letter a bit closer.

"Not really. Stamps are only used so that it shows that the letter is approved and not part of any schemes and it has been rated to be safe by the king or his aides."

"Well, I don’t have much knowledge on that but since we have this letter, how about we open it up and see what the content is? It is meant for you after all. What if it is important?"

Elaina nodded and took the letter from Troy and opened the envelop. Inside are plenty of papers folded nearly inside. Opening it up revealed that a few of them are registration papers and transferral papers that are only used if one party wanted the other party to transfer something without being considered illegal in any way. It is used in many occasions especially in business.

Among those papers is a lengthy letter, likely to be the main content to explain what is the meaning of all the business papers. Elaina began reading the contents of the letter, down to the very last detail.

"So, what does it say?" Troy asked, curious on what it was.

"This letter...it is from father."

"Father? You mean...our real father? That father?" Troy double checked.

"Are there even other fathers around? Of course it is the father we both hated. And yes, even I was surprised he would be sending a letter and get the letter delivered to me even if they are already dead by now," Elaina explained and showed the hand writing of the letter.

"You are right, this way of writing is a unique thing from Father. The way some letters have twirls and have some twists made it unique and easy to identify. But why would he send a letter all of a sudden?"

Elaina then began reading the letter in earnest.

"I won’t make this letter that long. This letter is the last letter that I might going to be writing in this lifetime. Since this is the last letter that I will be sending, I decided to make some adjustments and ways to transfer the ownership of our business to the rightful owner. You could say this is some kind of a final will, if I must say so myself. However, this will is something that my wife will not approve so I am writing this privately. Since me and my wife will no longer be able to manage that business of ours, the transfer is going to be smooth once we are gone, so don’t worry too much. Treat my words as if it was also the words of my wife. We consent in transferring our business to the successor.

And as for who that person is, that person should be none other than my second child and first daughter, Elaina Zangarde. This transfer of assets includes our business that is still present in Luminiera Kingdom and can be transferred to her preferred kingdom with ease. As for our assets, give the half of my riches to Elaina as well while the other half should be divided to my first child and only son, Troy Zangarde.

If you are reading this my daughter and son, you two might be wondering why I would give our assets to the children that we have neglected the most in our lifetime? The reason is because I felt guilty for being a bad parent and I don’t condone what I have done either. The only time I realized this was when I am here in prison allowing me to realize things. I also realized one thing. Selena is a manipulator. She is someone who cannot be trusted and I bet my life that she also was the main reason that we are going to be dying soon. I doubt we will be saved even though my wife is still hoping for a slight miracle that I know will no longer appear.

If I don’t bring out this will, then Selena will take the business and the assets for herself. So this will of mine right now will be a counterplan to Selena’s plan. I know that you kids will not forgive us for all of the neglect that we have done ever since the two of you are growing up. I won’t be asking for forgiveness either as we are going to be recieving appropriate punishment for that right now."

Despite the beginning of the letter saying that he will not take the matters too long, the letter ended up being a bit longer than usual. But thanks to that, Elaina and Troy now understood as to why there are lots of transferal documents included. So this was the legal papers to transfer their assets to Elaina and to Troy.

"Are you going to accept the inheritance, Elaina?" Troy asked.

"Of course. I would be a fool if I decided not to accept it or sell it to others. Considering thy have substantial and a bit of significant wealth, there is no way I would just give this up. I will use this wealth as a startup for my twin’s future education fund. Considering that they are about to go to school soon, I will need some money."

Troy grinned on Elaina’s reasoning and nodded. "Alright then, I will also accept the inheritance. Considering how big that will be, I mght be able to take it easy for a while with that money and perhaps save up on the bank for a bit."

"Good choice. Considering that you are already making some moves on the good doctor, you should also take advantage of that."

Hearing that, Troy blushed after his secret was realized but he didn’t deny it which means Elaina’s assumption is indeed correct. Troy is still embarrassed but he quickly decided to shift the subject.

"A-anyways, what about the business of our parents? Considering that they are running a business related to the merchants, I don’t think you will be bartering your job as a farmer into a merchant yourself? I know you can easily handle being a merchant but I don’t think you will be focusing on it."

Elaina smiled. "I have an idea that will allow me to manage that business myself while also working on my farm just fine. It will make matters a bit busier but this should be a good way to lessen the problem itself."

"A plan? Whatever it is, if it is how you are going to handle things, I know you can do it just fine. I will leave it to you as I don’t want to handle business things like this. Considering you have multiple experience related to business and running things in the market, I can tell that you will do fine."

Troy took the papers from Elaina. "I will help with the process of the transfers considering that you are busy in the farm and with your kids."

"Thanks brother, by the way, what do you think about the final message that father gave?"

"Final message? You mean, the one with Selena?"

"Indeed. It sounded a bit like father is finding someone to blame but it seems like he is very certain about it."

Troy sighed. "Considering that Father has the most composed way of thinking most of the time, he might have realized this ever since you have left Luminiera Kingdom. His realization came in late, and which resulted to him getting caught in a trap and dying from it. His assumption might have some shred of truth from it."

Elaina frowned once she had an idea on whatever the f*ck her father has been assuming and somehow, Elaina slowly made some senses of the several situations lately. And the appearance of the woman who looked like Selena is perhaps cementing the assumption further.

"Father may be onto something there. He might not actually be grasping for straws for once."

If that is the case, it seems things will escalate from here on out. In Elaina’s mind, the trouble brewing is about to enter in a few phase. Sooner or later, things will start to turn ugly and she needed to prepare for it.
