Chapter 312: Tamed Slimes
Chapter 312: Tamed Slimes
BOOM!
Elaina jolted awake when a loud noise like something huge crashed in the yard suddenly. Elaina summoned her Almanac and checked the time; it was midnight. She was still a bit groggy and was not thinking too much of what was supposed to arrive earlier during the day but since something seemed to have landed, Elaina quickly grabbed her sword and rushed outside to check if her field had been compromised by whatever crashed over on her field. Before she left her room, she checked her babies if they were also startled and had awakened from the noise...but to her surprise, the two were sound asleep and seemed to have not been disturbed by the loud noise. Sighing in relief, she heads out, worried about her crops.
Accompanied by Shardu who was also startled When she arrived, she realized that the one that made that noise was none other than the house that they were waiting for, the Witch’s house from the deep forest. Just like what the witch has said, she will arrive on the spot that they have cleaned up. The only thing wrong with what she said is the time she will be arriving. She said that she would arrive around the morning but she arrived much earlier than usual which is why she never expected the house to suddenly crash. And why make a loud noise in the middle of the night? It didn’t crash from the sky, right? The house is still in one piece and it doesn’t seem to be in a broken state.
Julia and Princess Margaux currently escorted by Zaza also rushed out, having their staves ready for any trouble. On Julia’s head is the slime that was bobbing up and down every movement of Julia.
"Sis, what is going on?!" Julia is ready to back Elaina up.
"Are there any intruders?! What is the shadow ops doing?!" Princess Margaux looked around the trees as she was a bit furious about why no one was present to respond to the problem.
A shadow ops appeared before them and immediately gave their main reasons why they didn’t do so.
"Princess, we the Shadow Ops only act upon dangers related to enemies and those who are going to harm the farm. The one who caused a ruckus just now is one of the things that the Princess and the others are expecting to arrive."
After the brief report, the operative disappeared again before Princess Margaux could ask anything.
"What we are expecting to arrive? AH!" Julia then suddenly remembered the main reason and her eyes lit up.
"Miss Julia?" Princess Margaux seems to have forgotten already or perhaps because she is still sleepy, she didn’t realize what the Shadow Op meant over the report.
"Of course, it’s the witch! She has arrived! But in a much earlier time than expected!"
The trio approached Elaina and Shardu who were inspecting the house. Shardu is already investigating while Elaina noticed the three.
"Looks like you guys are also awakened from the noise."
"Yeah. That one was pretty loud and considering I am very sensitive, I thought we had an enemy attack just now."
"So it wasn’t the attack but just the house of the witch landing? Then where is the witch?" Princess Margaux asked.
Elaina is also a bit worried. They were standing outside her house for a while and she should have already gone out to check if she arrived safely. Shardu is also scratching the door for quite a while, which means something might have happened. She couldn’t open the door so Elaina decided to peer through the window and there, she saw the witch collapsed on the floor, above the faded magic circle that she might have used to teleport the whole house to the farm.
Without hesitation, Elaina pulled her sword and sliced through the door, dicing through them, and just like what she expected, the sword easily cut through the door, reducing it to pieces.
"Everyone! Help me get her to the bed! She collapsed!" Elaina shouted.
"Wait, what? What is going on?" Princess Margaux entered the house and immediately rushed towards the witch who is sprawled on the floor.
On the other hand, Julia shook her head and smiled. "Ah, don’t worry. Although she collapsed just now, that was because she used up all her mana in the process. It seemed the teleportation process consumed a lot of the mana she had stored and that resulted in this. A good sleep should suffice. Wait a bit, I should call Sir Troy to help us."
"Troy? Don’t. He must be tired already from working on the tractor, let him sleep. I think we can manage to carry her ourselves. She isn’t looking that heavy anyways."
Although hesitant and wanted to insist on calling Troy, Julia eventually decided to agree with Elaina.
"I can help at making her weight lighter so she is easy to carry, Miss Elaina," Princess Margaux suggested.
"Thanks, that would be great!"
As they are about to carry the witch to a new place, a lot of slimes suddenly jump out from various areas of the house and block everyone from doing anything to the witch due to how they act like a gelatin shield. They were also a bit numerous which is why they made the girls surprised at their appearance.
"Slimes!" Julia was about to start blasting magic to the slimes when the slime on her shoulder morphed itself and held Julia’s hand to stop her from doing so.
"What are you doing?! Slimes are attacking your summoner!"
A little head seems to form from the morphed body while maintaining Julia being cuffed and then gestures a shaking head to convey its emotions to Julia who is confused as to why it stopped her from attacking.
"The slime said that we shouldn’t attack. These guys are friendly and are the pets and household cleaners of the witch’s house," Princess Margaux translated.
"You understand them, Princess?" Julia asked.
"A bit. After achieving a bit of epiphany from the witch’s teachings earlier, I broke to the next tier and I managed to understand more about what other creatures are saying including these slimes’ words."
"I don’t even hear them speak, but eh, whatever. I don’t speak slime language. However, we can’t just ignore the witch sprawled over here without any protection from the cold. How about this, since you are a slime and you seem to understand human words more, how about you tell these slime friends of yours to move away for a bit? We will not mean any harm to their master and we will be instead taking care of her at the moment."
The gooby slime seemed to understand the assignment quickly and immediately went to action and jumped down to converse with the other slimes that were still gathering the body of the witch, never backing down. Whatever they are talking about, no one understands except Princess Margaux who can translate their words though through the eyes of the humans, it only seems to look like the slime is just bouncing up and down with the other slimes.
"Is that really how they talk?" Julia frowned.
"They may seem to be just bobbing up and down but don’t worry, they are indeed talking but in a different language. We just don’t understand it and just like it was a movement of bobbing around so it may seem odd at first glance."
The gooby slime seems to be convincing the others while the others seem to be also arguing. Elaina thought they were a bit cute doing those weird movements with their gelatinous see-through body and despite lacking any facial features, it seems that they do express their bodies too much. From what she can see, the little slimes that are protecting the body of the witch are a bit anxious and wary. They seemed against the idea of the humans helping their master much. They are even jumping and are forming like a fist being raised in the sky to defend their rights.
Of course, the gooby slime seemed to not care much about that and just continued to persuade the slimes.
"How is the negotiation process, Princess? From the looks of it, the other faction slimes don’t seem to be agreeing too much," Julia asked, hoping that the situation was just her imagination.
"Yeaaah...no. The other faction of slimes is just too agitated and the one slime who came with you, Miss Julia is trying its best to resolve the conflict," Princess Margaux explained.
"Perhaps I should blow them up with my magic? I can break their cores easily."
"No, don’t do it. We don’t even know their backstory, and yet we are attacking it? The Witch might be the one who tamed them so don’t attack. Just let them be and trust the little time to finish its job," Princess Margaux suggested.
And before they knew it, the slime seemed to have increased in size. Now it was just something they wouldn’t expect much to a slime. A slime battle?
