A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods
Chapter 311: Moving Day

Chapter 311: Moving Day

Julia returned a few hours later with a small creature similar to the ones that Elaina had seen before that caught her attention last time. The slime-looking little goober seemingly attached itself to Julia. Julia doesn’t seem to mind having it on her shoulder. Still, Elaina couldn’t help but wonder what it was.

"I have returned, Sis. And according to the witch, we need to ensure the area she will be landing in is free from anything important. People, objects, and other things should be moved away as soon as it is possible. She will be channeling all her mana tonight so that when the moving process is working, she will arrive with the house in tow. After giving me this creature on my shoulder, she cleared up all her belongings around the house with space magic similar to our bags, but for her, she didn’t use any bag, she only used her power to store them all, then she started her ritual by making a magic circle and doing it right away."

"Good to know, Julia. It would indeed be troublesome if things didn’t go well and the witch would have difficulty with the moving process. But I thought that you would be staying and helping out with the moving process, Julia. You said before you are curious how she would do it," Elaina said, remembering what Julia was muttering the last time that she heard.

"You heard that, Sis? Well, I was indeed curious about how it works, but when I told her my plan, the witch declined and would rather let me return home than stay with her during the ritual. She cannot guarantee my safety if I am included to be moved along with the house. And besides, her mana is not that big for her to include me in the equation. It’s disappointing, sure, but she does make a point. And it’s not like she was using any tool to teleport with the house, she is doing manual teleportation herself and that alone is impressive in a sense."

After explaining, Julia glanced at the little slime on her shoulder and poked it with her finger a few times.

"I have been meaning to ask but what is that creature in your shoulder, Julia?" Elaina asked.

"I also wondered myself, Sis. It looked like a slime and yet it seems to be different of some sort?"

"Did the witch hand this little thing to you?" Elaina asked.

"Yeah. This will be my guide, to and fro at her house so that I won’t get lost in the forest. I didn’t even know we had that place in the first place. I have never seen that during our prior visits in the forest."

"It was there, but it was very hard to see and if not for me stumbling on it the other day, I would also be clueless on the place as well so you are not alone. But that place has existed since the day we first explored the forest together," Elaina explained. She is telling the truth. If not for her discovery of the entrance of the deep forest during her exploration that day, she would not also think that the Deep Forest is just another shrubby area of the forest with nothing much going on and the witch would still remain isolated.

Julia scratches her head. Although she is confused, she is obviously fine accepting her explanation but she is still confused and a bit unconvinced but she seemed to have shrugged it off in exchange for the acceptance.

"How long will the ritual will last though?" Elaina asked.

"Tonight until tomorrow. Not too sure if they will arrive until tomorrow night but according to her, if things go right, she will be able to transport the house this morning."

"That’s long. And does she plan to not have dinner then? You said she just started the ritual without eating, that must mean she wasn’t even going to take dinner?" Elaina is worried.

"Come to think of it, you are right, Sis. I never saw her go and eat any dinner after we arrived at her house. She didn’t even take any snacks or anything to eat at all, she just secured her belongings and then began the ritual process. Perhaps she would rather eat the food we have here than eat the food she had in her house? After all, you gave her lunch just earlier."

"Possible, but it is worrying. Anyways, now that we know she is doing her best, we should also do our part for the moving process to be smoother for her."

Julia nodded and after putting the slime from her shoulder to the patio, Elaina and Julia started clearing out the area from any stray objects that would bother or be a hindrance to the moving process of the witch. Princess Margaux also helped and used her magic to move around the items here and there with ease. She needed to train her progression and mastery of her magic if she wanted to be able to properly control her magic skills according to the witch. Using magic in everyday work will help out a lot.

There are some stuff like tree stumps and big rocks alongside the tall variety of weeds that she has not cleared out before are removed easily by Princess Margaux using her nature magic. So seeing a tree stump carrying a big boulder on top of it while walking and carrying it to another place is something that was new for Elaina’s eyes.

"Princess...I don’t know why but every time you progress in your mastery of your nature magic, the more bizarre the spells you seem to be learning..." Julia scratches her head as she stares at the passing stump beneath her feet, walking using their roots as their feet. Even for Julia, manipulating something like a tree stump to walk around is something that she has not attempted to do. And yet, Julia is doing it without much care...

The boulders and the stumps were slowly removed in the process. Although Elaina plans to use her axe to process those stumps into hardwood and break those boulders to gather stones, seeing that they were moved like nothing by Princess Margaux, she doesn’t complain and lets the girl do it. It is much better indeed to not worry too much about her.

Thanks to their efforts, the field that should be the place for the Witch’s house to land on is now secure and free to be landed on. Elaina urged the two girls to rest after the cleanup while she went to the Feys and the fairies to talk about not going to that specific area of the field starting today up until tomorrow so that nothing will go wrong. An accident after moving is not ideal and is a bad omen.

Of course, they immediately understood. Since they had seen the witch earlier, they all knew that she would be moving. And since it is on the farm, they knew it would be big. With that knowledge alone, they knew it would be dangerous to be around that area until then, so they were already steering clear from it even before Elaina talked to them about it.

Looking at the sun and the time over at the almanac, Elaina grabbed her fishing rod as it has been a while since she have done any fishing. Now that she is free, and the air is cool, she decided to use that time to fish new fishes now that it is spring.

As she arrived with her fishing rod in tow, the Harvest Goddess is floating in the water, eating another food that she offered earlier this morning.

"I didn’t expect you to actually adopt and allow a witch to come and join you on this farm. Considering their wild history, you seemed unfazed by it?" the Harvest Goddess inquires on Elaina’s reaction as she continues to gobble her food.

"It’s not like witches are still feared nowadays. Considering that witches have already shown their expertise, it’s not fair for her to remain as nothing but a hermit in a world where their profession is now widely accepted compared to when the world and the people barely have any idea what they are doing," Elaina explained as she cast the line of her fishing rod.

"Or maybe, after you have seen the capabilities that the witch is able to do, you immediately found a way to utilize her abilities to full use, yes? I can tell at first glance that it is Farmer. As long as it is helpful for you, you will take advantage of it, yes?"

Elaina smirked. "You seemed to know a lot, Harvest Goddess? But I won’t deny it. If it means expanding and getting the farm to work efficiently and also fulfill all the things that the gods wanted me to do, I will take advantage of anything to lessen the load of my tasks. There is nothing wrong with it, is there?"
