Chapter 310: The Witch Is Moving Out

While the witch is currently talking with Julia, Elaina on the other hand is sorting out all of her new stuff that she just foraged from the deep forest. She got a lot of stuff from the deep forest allowing, not just wild veggies and mushrooms but also medicinal herbs.

Since the task that was given to Elaina by the Goddess of Medicine is to help with the spread of medicinal herbs for the sake of new medicine creation, Elaina has been on the lookout for various medicinal herbs every time she heads to the forest to forage.

There are times that Elaina gets lucky at finding a few bunches but most of the time, she barely finds anything at all. She didn’t start out growing the. Medicinal herbs are what the Goddess of Medicine is trying to grow because, unlike regular plants, there is a chance that regular medicinal plants are grown differently than regular crops. As a way of testing, Elaina wanted to grow a little garden dedicated to medicinal herbs alone.

What Elaina is doing is that she is gathering regular herbs and then transferring them to a regular pot where she can grow them isolated from regular crops.

She can grow them in the soil directly but she didn’t want it to immediately die since it just got transferred to a new environment. So far, she managed to succeed a few times. Of course, it was a trial and error but there are a few that didn’t survive so even with Elaina’s planning, not everything works.

The Almanac is helping Elaina but sometimes, Elaina just wants to experiment at times and do the job on herself, without relying on the Almanac’s knowledge. If she wanted to learn, the Almanac might be helpful, but it won’t help mastering the skill itself. Perhaps it was due to how stubborn she was in the first place.

While she was busy transferring the new medicinal plants to the pots, Julia, Princess Margaux, and the witch emerged from the farmhouse entrance with an excited look on their faces.

"Eh? You guys looked cheerful. Something good happened?" Elaina asked, seeing how the three seemed so chipper.

"She taught me a few things here and there about my magic and how to fully utilize my ability without wasting too much mana. I didn’t know a few of those simple stuff would be that useful and I want to test it out in the open field. Can I do that, Miss Elaina?" Princess Margaux asked, with an excited look on her face that couldn’t seem to hold on to her curiosity on how it would go.

"Is that so? Well, if you feel confident, just head over to the open area on the farm. There should be plenty of space there for you to do so. Feel free to practice there if you want."

With Elaina’s approval, Princess Margaux excitedly headed to the empty spot of the farm and began her practice session to test her abilities after getting the advice that the witch gave to her.

"I never knew that magic that utilizes nature exists now. What do they call it nowadays?" the witch looked at Julia.

"Druid Magic. Still, I was surprised when you decided to suggest many things to her after hearing that she uses magic that utilizes nature. Some of your suggestions didn’t even appear in my mind when she asked for advice."

"Well, when we are practicing magic in the past with my sisters and compatriots, they all have individual magic abilities. Some for support and healing, mostly are for combat and utility magic. I have seen that kind of magic before in one of my friends and we still didn’t call that Druid Magic but nature magic. It falls to support-combat type magic which is very useful in different kinds of situations."

Elaina listened along while she continued to transfer one herb to another pot continuously when the witch looked at Elaina’s work. Immediately, she found a problem in Elaina’s way of doing it.

"Ah, don’t transfer that to a pot. It will die later this day if you put it like that. Its roots grow deep. The herb will not like that if its environment is very limited like a pot."

Elaina was surprised to hear that and looked at the witch. "You even have the knowledge in growing medicinal herbs?" Elaina asked.

"Acquired knowledge from trial and error out of all these years. The longer you stay and study herbs and medicinal plants, the more you will memorize how they work. And since I utilize them every day, I also needed to grow a few on my own so that I don’t need to keep on looking for that particular herb in the forest just because I messed up with my timing," the witch explained.

"I brought her here since I heard that you are planning to start practicing in propagating medicinal herbs and various plants that have healing properties. Her help will be tremendous to you and for me, Sis!" Julia said with excitement on her face plastered obviously.

"Haha, not really... it’s just years of experience," the witch awkwardly scratches her cheek, embarrassed by the praises she receives from the two of them.

"Hey now, don’t undersell yourself. Compared to us, your multiple years of experience is enough testament that you are already an expert. If it were me and Julia, we would take a lot of years as well just to master it with trial and error too and since we are mortals, it will just end up with us being old before we can master it!" Elaina exclaimed.

"Well, I am willing to impart my knowledge as much as I can but I can only impart a bit of it right now to get started on a medicinal garden seeing that you are already starting on one."

"Why?" Julia looked at the witch.

"As much as I like to keep on giving advice about medicinal herbs, I will need to go back home before dark so that I won’t get lost and mauled by monsters on the way home. If my home is just nearby, I wouldn’t be having this much trouble in the first place. That is why if I needed to teach you girls about things related to medicinal herbs, I would be moving my house nearby and settling down. However, the problem is that I have no idea where to settle down without getting reprimanded. It seems that illegal settling still happens."

Elaina smiled. "How about you transfer your house to one of the empty fields of my farm? My farm is very massive and it will take me some time to even fill that up with various stuff and if I did fill it up, I can just buy the additional free plot that is still empty and ready for the expansion."

"Eh? You don’t have to. I can find a good area on my own legally..."

"No, no. I insist. And besides, even though it is already safe nowadays and witches are no longer considered a threat, there will be a few people who will try to do something. It is best you are with us. We might not look like it, but we can handle a big fight or two with a few backers(her grandparents) who will help us in our time of need. It is also a way to slowly recover yourself from the trouble you are feeling right now."

The witch is still hesitant but Julia and Elaina took turns to convince the witch to stay with them and it doesn’t take long for the witch to agree. The two silently high-fived when the witch turned around to look for a better area to move the house.

"Oh, if you are moving your house, how will you do that? Your house is not that big, but that is not easy to move around unless it can walk?" Elaina frowned, scratching her head on how the witch would be able to move her house freely.

"Ah, I have a magic that allows me to transport my house from one place to another. It was one of the things I used back then to avoid detection by the witch hunters in the past. Without this magic of mine, I would have long been found by them and caught in the process."

"Pretty convenient, I must say. I would also like to learn that kind of power in the future," Julia nodded with a rub on her chin.

"I could teach you next time. It isn’t that complicated anyways and the way you use your magic is similar to mine, so I guess you won’t have a hard time learning it."

"I am looking forward to it," Julia grinned.

Since the sun was about to set, Elaina decided to have Julia escort the witch back to her place and let her move the house to the farm. Since the two has become friends, and with Julia’s capability to fight, it is no trouble for the two to reach back the house again. And besides, it is almost time for Elaina to be bonding with her twins. For her, this is the most important time in her day.
