Chapter 281: Descent to the Mines Once More

The results of the Ancient Jewel Plant came out as soon as Elaina had it verified and just like the precious stones that are mined normally, the Ancient Jewel Plant’s fruits are all genuine jewels and are in high quality as well without it being processed just yet.

In the end, Elaina managed to sell them at a much higher price than their regular prices. It’s not enough for Elaina to be called rich after selling all of those precious stones but they are just great additions to Elaina’s funds and that is the most important thing. It would have to fetch a bigger price if it was formed into a piece of jewelry, but no one from them is capable of doing that and Julia who can make a few trinkets like a necklace or a ring is not that great at making good designs for jewelry to get a good and high price so it ended up being not too well and they instead sold it just like that.

But now that Elaina knew what that seed was in the first place, Elaina decided that it was time to further explore the mines once more. After making sure her schedule for tomorrow was clear, she started to prepare for her descent to the mines and made sure she was now fully prepared more than ever.

"What are you going to do with the potions, Sis?" Julia asked when Elaina bought a few potions that she was making. She didn’t have a good idea of where Elaina was going to use them when she was not even going to dive into the labyrinth in the first place.

"A bit of exploration, that’s all. I want to explore the forest a bit more and see if I can find monsters I might tame. These potions are for emergencies only," Elaina replied. Although she lies about her destination, she is not truly lying as she does plan to explore the forest for a bit after her exploration inside the mines. With the time manipulation in the mines, once she finishes her exploration below the mines, not a single second should have passed by in the real world.

Julia suspects a bit about Elaina’s actions but since she can’t be bothered to care much, she decides to just let it go and let Elaina do her thing. Elaina sighed in relief that Julia didn’t pry much. As much as she trusts Julia right now unless she fully trusts the mines itself, she can’t afford to have Julia with her right now even though her magic is useful. Until she is sure of the safety of the mines, then until then, she will keep the information to herself.

Aside from potions, she also bought a few portable magic crystals from Julia who made a few for Elaina to use as she knows that she can’t use magic and there are times when someone needs to use magic against enemies who are resistant to physical damage.

With her preparations done, Elaina is ready for tomorrow.

The next day arrived quickly. Since the work on the farm is not that hard, she asked the Feys to take care of the farm while she was away. She will only be gone in a short while but it is better to let them know that she will not be available for a while to ensure that if anyone is looking for her, they have an idea of what to answer. And besides, Julia already got the idea as well so she is not worried.

With her sword and her supplies in tow, she headed straight to the mines...without realizing Julia was following behind her.

As soon as she arrived at the Quarry, she didn’t even bother to spare a glance over at the ores that were already sticking out of the nodes and headed inside the mines and quickly entered the elevator like a natural. It was like she had been doing this for years even though she had only been doing this for days. Perhaps because of the time flow difference here, it is something that might have some sort of influence.

Instead of heading back to the first floor, Elaina stopped on her last floor and proceeded to head down to the next floor.

One thing that has changed the mines as she descends deeper is that the mine structure is getting more and more complicated and bigger. Her pickaxe and hammer are slowly getting more and more like a secondary tool now for Elaina. A pickaxe for picking off the ores off of a node and a hammer to break a closed-in node for the pickaxe to break in.

Of course, the mines are not desolate for Elaina alone as the mines also have the occasional monsters to kill. Compared to the first few floors, the new floors are now housing a few of the annoying monsters she encountered.

BZZZZZ!

Elaina entered her combat stance and readied her sword as the enemy was closing in. As soon as the enemy was now in her sight, Elaina swung her sword...only for the enemy to dodge it gracefully but Elaina already anticipated the dodge of the enemy and before the enemy could react, a hammer welcomed it, and one swing, the enemy splatters dead into the wall.

"Annoying..." Elaina is pissed as soon as she lifts off the hammer revealing the squashed giant insect underneath it.

"[Considering the insect looks more like a fly than a bee, I don’t think the Goddess of Taming would want that insect to be tamed.]" the God of Farming made an input.

"Why are you the one giving inputs on monsters I am killing, God of Farming? Where is the Goddess of Taming?" Elaina asked.

"[Busy. She might not be back for quite a while but don’t worry about her. She is just buried in her work. Nothing too serious so don’t worry too much.]" the God of Farming replied casually.

"If you say so. Still, it is kinda weird for you to be the one giving input instead of her which is why I am a bit surprised."

"[You need to get used to it then. I may not be a good judge of monster character but I do have some inkling on what that goddess likes and have also a decent idea on which monsters might be a good substitute farm animal for you. But don’t expect too much alright? Only decent level, not an expert one.]"

Elaina smiled before she headed over to the dead insect and grabbed its carapace that remained intact even if it was smashed with the hammer. It is the only material of that monster that is great to bring.

With the whole floor clear, Elaina continues to descend into the mines, deeper within.

On the other hand, Julia who just arrived at the mines saw Elaina go inside. She made sure to follow closely by using a technique to cover herself with magic that would allow her to remain undetected by Elaina. She made this spell to tail Elaina every time she went outside the farm.

She just didn’t expect that they would arrive in the mines and enter it herself. Following her remained easy as she remained undetected by Elaina without fail but as soon as she saw Elaina head inside the elevator, before she could even enter, a barrier physically blocked Julia from further entering the mines’s elevator.

She tried to keep on going but the barrier itself made it impossible. In the end, the elevator closed and left her behind as Elaina descended to the mines while she remained on the first floor.

As soon as the elevator returned to normal, she decided to try to get it to carry her, but it remained inoperative.

"What the heck? How did Sis managed to do that? Did she use some sort of key to make this work? No, that shouldn’t be the case. I am quite sure she just stepped in front of it and the elevator opened. But why doesn’t it open when I am here? Perhaps because I was cloaked with magic?" Julia ponders on why she isn’t entering the elevator at all.

After stripping off the cloak of magic around her, she tried again but just like before, the elevator denied her entry and her control over it. She couldn’t use it at all.

"What the heck is its problem? This is the first time I have seen something like this that will block someone from using it even though other people are using it..."

She looked around the mines and soon spotted the same hole that descends to the next floor.

"Perhaps there is a certain trigger for me to achieve so that I can use that elevator. Perhaps by using this ladder?"

She peers on the other side of the hole and is quite sure that it is looking fine. Even though she is a bit nervous, Julia decides to continue to head down to the mines. She needed to follow Elaina and learn her secret.
