Chapter 270: End of the Year Celebration [II]

With Julia taking over to watch the twins, Elaina talked with her grandma about the incident just now.

"What is going on, Elaina? How come my great-grandchild is now able to talk? She is barely one year old and even her brother who was born not too long after she came out was not this developed! Did something happen for her to develop abnormally like this?" her grandma asked, worried about the development of her great-grandchild.

"I didn’t do anything, Grandma! Even I was shocked just now, so how do I even know she would become like that?"

"If no one knew Adelaide was still barely a year old, many might assume she is already around 4 years old or older with how she moves. But if they learned she was still young, they might start saying that she is abnormal or she is a cursed one or something else!"

"Let them judge! If they think my daughter is an abnormal one, they can just dream and be jealous that my daughter is a gifted child. She is not an ordinary kid but that doesn’t mean she will grow into a calamity or something. With proper guidance and proper parenting, she will grow up as a normal child without fear of being ostracized by the populace!"

Her Grandma sighed, shaking her head. "Elaina. I am not scaring you. But you needed to be careful. Now that your child is showing signs of how different she is from regular children, people might think that your child is someone who will curse people. And considering that Luminiera Kingdom already treats your twins as the harbinger of curses and misfortune, you will not entirely evade those allegations easily."

Elaina’s face went serious. Although Darcero Kingdom does not believe in that superstition, there are still superstitious people all around the kingdom who believe in those lies and think that what is happening is a result of those beliefs they had. But that is what Elaina is making sure that won’t happen to her children. She will ensure that they will not be suffering anything that is a result of those weird and baseless accusations.

"I will protect them. I am their mother and even though they lack a father, I will also make sure to fill that gap as well, Grandma. No one will be harming my children. Even if it is you, Grandma, Grandpa, or everyone else. I will not stop protecting my precious children."

Hearing this, Grandma smiled. It wasn’t a smile that was forced. It is the smile of someone who understands the determination of someone.

"I guess I was too harsh, Elaina. Sorry about that, but I am happy about your conviction. Don’t worry, my grandchild. As your grandma, I will ensure that no one will befall you and my great-grandchildren either. They are not monsters or abnormal beings. They are my precious great-grandchildren. And I am sorry for my outburst earlier."

Elaina smiled hearing that and the two hugged each other.

"Thank you, Grandma. Truly...thank you."

"Alright, enough of this drama. We should start preparing for the celebration. We should be celebrating right now, not engaging in this drama."

With their discussion now over, Elaina sighed in relief. She is thankful that her Grandma is on her side. With the ban on entry soon going to be lifted, it is only a matter of time before those people who wish to harm her children will appear. Perhaps, even her former husband is plotting something to reclaim their children and bring them to Luminiera Kingdom. Until then, they will be safe still. And she vowed to herself that anyone who will harm her family will not be spared.

A few minutes later, thanks to the help of her Grandpa and Curaj who helped set up the tables for the kitchenware, the outdoor kitchen is now ready to cook. Just a few minutes after the outdoor kitchen was done, both Douglas and Marigold arrived, while also carrying their kitchenwares, condiments, and a few ingredients that Elaina recognized as local products sold in the market. After they were inside the gates, the outdoor kitchen appeared before them.

"Oh wow, you guys really came in prepared! This is magnificent! Plus without tools as well, this will be great!" Marigold looked like she was hyped as well.

"Thanks for coming, both of you. But I heard that the Mayors of each town and city are involved with what the Royal Family is doing for celebration. Is the mooncake or something? Aren’t you going to do that today?" Elaina inquired. After all, if it is free food or something, then she won’t decline free blessings like that.

"Ah, mooncakes. Don’t worry Elaina. They are already prepared to be distributed. But it will only happen this evening. I will go to the Town Square later to distribute them. If you plan to grab a few, be sure to come with me later. That way, I can give you a few of them."

Elaina has not tasted mooncakes before but according to what she had heard about it, they are not always available and are only distributed during certain celebrations, usually in autumn and sometimes in winter seasons whenever the moon is brightly shining up in the sky which is why they call it mooncake as it is associated with the moon itself.

Darcero Kingdom has a different celebration involving mooncakes but considering that the Almanac indeed forecasted that today will be the time the moon will be really bright in the sky, a mooncake is something that would fit into the celebration.

"Alright, now that my husband is prepped up and I am still not busy, we should start cooking immediately! Since the main celebration begins this midnight, we should get these foods prepared before then!"

Elaina and the others nodded. It’s only a couple of hours left and now, they are about to begin.

"Let’s start cooking!"

While this situation was unfolding, the Harvest Goddess smiled while sitting on the tree near her home. She smiled at this development and admired Elaina for her determination and capability. Who would have thought that a human would be capable of befriending someone like her in the first place? If she had not met Elaina at all, perhaps right now, the Harvest Goddess would have been gone from the annals of history by now.
