Chapter 267: Condensed Mana Orb

Since Elaina has planted many vegetables in the dungeon, she has had many harvests. She even forgot what plants she planted there the last time she was inside the Dungeon. Seeing the variety of plants here, she was expecting more dead crops than crops that had lived and bloomed properly.

But this is a pleasant surprise. It might be a thing that she didn’t expect but she is happy that this was the outcome instead. Not only that, but it also proved to be quite a fruitful way to know that the dungeon soil is not only just regular soil but also fertile and very great soil for farming. Seeing the quality and how it has no pests at all, Elaina is now eager to cultivate the whole area and get the farm running. With how this place is stuck in eternal seasons in their various areas, it would be a good idea also to grow a few plants that are hard to take care of while they are in regular farm plots like the long-term growing plants or plants that can continuously give produce once they are planted.

The adventurers around were surprised to see Elaina harvesting the crops like nothing. They were expecting her to be repelled like how they did when they tried to approach the farm plots once. Since there were no guards, they tried to see if they could snag at least a few of those vegetables. Not only did they look good, but they also looked like they would be tasty to eat so some had the nerve to pluck and harvest them without Elaina’s consent. Of course, due to Elaina’s preemptive tactics, she managed to get the plants protected from other people who had some ideas.

As for the guards, they are already aware of the things that Elaina did before so they thought it would be funny if the adventurers’ actions backfired on themselves if they tried to do something funny and they got it indeed as they saw a few spectacles during the first time they tried to do so. Of course, many are aware of the repellant that Elaina installed and no one dares to do it again.

Elaina is not aware of those things but she had a slight idea as the vegetables were not harmed or had any of them missing at all which is why she is already good about it.

With how many vegetables she had to harvest, it took Elaina a few hours to do so. However, there is one irregularity that she has seen after her harvests...

"What is this?" Elaina frowned as she picked up another small blue orb. It is currently the 15th time she found this and she always gets it every time she finishes harvesting crops in a 3x3 square. At first, she thought it was nothing at first since it suddenly dropped from the air to the ground after she finished her first 3x3 square harvest. However, it repeated but she thought it was just another coincidence and so she continued...until it repeated again. This time, she got suspicious but she didn’t think it was strange...until she got it again the fourth time.

The first time might just be a chance, the second might just be a coincidence and the third time might just be another fluke...but if it repeats for a fourth time, something is already amiss. And now this is her 15th time. This isn’t just a regular coincidence anymore.

Despite her curiosity, she decided that she would go ask Julia later. If Julia has no answer then she will ask the gods for what this thing is.

She found 5 more of these blue orbs before she finished her final harvest. Elaina made sure to sow new seeds once more in the areas that she had fully harvested. She can’t just leave it alone to ensure that the Labyrinth barrier continues to be present. Now that she knows that this place is a good way to get more crops without the need to fully take care of it like the regular farm plot, Elaina wanted this place to be a passive way of farming in the future. It is a good way to maintain the barrier while also gaining money and resources without trying too hard.

As for the orbs, she didn’t forget to stash them as well. It feels magical but for someone who has no magical affinity to anything at all, Elaina decided to ask someone who knows anything about magic and there is no other person who has that knowledge other than Julia.

Once she made sure everything was back to regular things in the dungeon farm, Elaina gave the guards of the dungeon a few vegetables as a way to appreciate their work while they were guarding the place. The guards were not expecting Elaina to do that but they do appreciate the gesture.

With her business in the dungeon already finished, Elaina hurries back home. She wanted to go back with her children as soon as possible and to also ask Julia about the new things she have discovered.

"Sis, where did you get this again?" Julia asked as she examined the blue orb.

Elaina has returned home and is now letting Julia examine her new discovery to know more about what they are.

"On the dungeon’s farmland. Every time I finished harvesting in a 3x3 square, this thing popped out. I don’t have any idea what it was but from the looks of it, it seemed to be some kind of tool for magic. I can’t really tell though as I am not adept in magic and I am not sensitive to it at all."

Julia nodded and put the orb on the table. "You are right about this Sis that this is related to magic and you are also fortunate that I do have some idea of what this thing is. Still, I didn’t expect to see something like this so pure without any signs of impurities from usual."

"So it was indeed something used in magic?" Elaina asked.

"Indeed. We mages call this orb Condensed Mana Orb. It is the accumulation of mana and turned solid. It is used in a variety of stuff and it is not just a regular thing but something that would take some time to be formed as it is not possible to form this artificially. Think of it as the cores that are harvested from some monsters. It can be used to power up various tools that needed constant mana application."

"So it is like a battery?" Elaina frowned.

"Not necessarily. Although it isn’t too far from the term battery, batteries cannot be consumed. This one can be consumed."

Elaina picked up the condensed mana orb in her hands and examined it. "Are you sure this is consumable? This looks like just a regular marble."

"Yes, sis. It might look like a regular marble but it is indeed consumable. Since it was just a condensed mana in the shape of a spherical object, it was safe to consume. As for the reason it can be consumed, it acts as a mana potion that can fully heal one’s pool of mana if they are exhausted. Any side effects that can be incurred once they lose a lot of mana will disappear once this is consumed compared to drinking regular mana potions. It is very potent to the point that it can even increase one’s mana pool’s maximum output permanently."

"Alright that sounded like a big deal, but you mentioned before there were some impurities in regular mana orbs. What do you mean?"

"As I said before, these are not formed artificially but it is formed naturally. However, no one can form it without impurities. Mages that get to harvest this usually have to clean it from impurities before it can be used but as a result of doing so, the content then will be reduced dramatically. So if consumed, it would either not affect a mage greatly and there is a chance that if the impurities are so great that if consumed by a mage, they will not be able to get the permanent increase on their mana pool."

She then looked at the mana orb that Elaina was holding and nodded. "But for this mana orb, you found Sis, they are flawless, they don’t have any impurities and they are brimming with natural mana. This is one of the best Condensed Mana orbs I have seen in my entire life. Not even my master has been able to procure one for me in the past."

Hearing that, Elaina looked at Julia. "Wanna try the orb, Julia? Perhaps it can help you?"

"Wait, seriously Sis? You can earn lots of money if you sell this!" Julia frowned.

"We have a mage who can benefit from this. If this is very valuable, having you consume it would be a better thing. And besides, who knows if I can still get this in the future? You should use a few for yourself."

"Really Sis? Then, I will take one."

And Julia popped one into her mouth. Shortly after she swallowed the item into her mouth, her body suddenly emitted a very strong mana surge that even Elaina who i not sensitive to mana can feel as well.

"Julia?!"
