A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods -
Chapter 266: The Labyrinth Farm Progress
Chapter 266: The Labyrinth Farm Progress
Jacob’s explanation about the Slime Hutch allowed Elaina to slowly understand its purpose. She didn’t know that slimes have some uses aside from their dropped materials and cores collected every time they are killed. Not only that but breeding slimes was something she didn’t know was also being done voluntarily by many people to the point that she was not expecting to hear it.
No wonder the Goddess of Taming is adamant for her to ready a place for a slime to house on, a slime can become a money maker if they are handled well.
However, the problem is that Elaina doesn’t have enough money to purchase the slime hutch. Not only that but it is expensive in materials as the building materials must be anti-corrosive or else the building will just corrode from the slime’s abilities and will let the slime escape.
Elaina then added that to her wishlist that she would be saving up for the next year. After all, even though spring has arrived, the end-of-the-year celebration has yet to happen. It is weird to celebrate the end of the year celebration in spring especially since this celebration was originally a winter special event. But since spring arrived early, this will be a spring version of that celebration.
With Jacob already having the money and the project scheduled, Elaina only needed to wait for a few days for the barn to finish fully. Since Elaina was already out of and was just on the way to the market, Elaina decided to go shopping and refill the supplies at home.
...
...
...
"Ah..."
Returning home, Elaina then remembers the Labyrinth farm. She was so busy with the Eternal Winter these past few days that when she remembered it, she had almost forgotten about the other farm she had. It had already been almost a month since then and she didn’t remember to visit the place even once.
"Oh crap...looks like I have totally neglected the other farm...All of those plants I planted might have withered..."
She was quite sure of it as no one else aside from her could enter the area due to the defense mechanism she had installed back then.
Now that she remembered, Elaina gave Julia the reigns again to take care of the kids for the time being as she rushed towards the Labyrinth. She carried her hoe, rake, and a hand shovel to dig up the dead plants that should be on the plot of land.
Since there were no dangers of the Snow Men anymore, Elaina didn’t have any trouble reaching the Dungeon entrance. There, many adventurers are currently gathered outside. It seems most of them are either discussing their plans with each other or are looking for party members to raid the labyrinth. Compared to before when the labyrinth had yet to be discovered, the place was a barren place that even beginner adventurers forget as it is a simple dungeon without much trouble.
Now things have changed.
As she approached, plenty of the adventurers were looking at her with incredulous looks while some seemed to have no idea why a farmer was currently there. While some are indifferent, some also decide to talk to Elaina and one of them is a thug-like man who has some tattoos on his arm. He is an intimidating individual and even other adventurers seem to be wary of him. He had a few members of his party and all of them look like your average street thugs. The only thing different from the regular thugs is that they are equipped with weapons and proper adventurer gear.
"Miss Farmer, are you planning to enter the dungeon?" the intimidating adventurer asked while putting his hand on Elaina’s shoulder. The other adventurers can only look away as they are not going to even care about the situation. They don’t want to be part of this problem.
"Yeah? Is there a problem?" Elaina looked at the thug-like people who stopped her from entering. She is not afraid of them. This isn’t her first rodeo with people with bodies like this and she has taken down a few people who are much bigger than these guys before when she was still the Empress.
The intimidating man nodded after hearing her answer. "I see. However, this dungeon is not a safe place for a farmer to stay in. I know you have some weapons you can use but monsters of the dungeon are not just that easy to dispatch with those farm weapons."
Elaina was surprised. She thought these guys were there to give trouble...but it was the opposite and the man was just worried.
"Ah, don’t worry. I am not going to descend and head to the Labyrinth if that is what you are worried about. And this isn’t my first time here. But thanks for the reminder. I will be careful. You guys should also be careful as well. I heard the labyrinth is not a very forgiving place."
The thugs nodded. "Alright. But if there are monsters that try to attack, just run away or call for the other adventurers. We can’t let a civilian like you be harmed while you are here."
Elaina smiled and nodded before she headed to the entrance where she was stopped by the guards. At first, the guards were inspecting Elaina but then, the guards outside immediately recognized Elaina as he was the one who blocked Elaina before.
"Oh, Miss Farmer. You are finally back! Your plants have grown quite well over inside the dungeon for quite some time. I didn’t expect you to plant there, put some sprinklers and a defense mechanism before completely abandoning the place."
"I have been busy these last few days so I didn’t get to have the chance to properly visit...Wait...plants? They survived?" Elaina then realized something that the guards had said.
"Yeah. We are quite surprised as well. Have a good look over there. You will be surprised a lot by what the place has become after you started planting there."
Since Elaina has an entry permit that will allow her to enter the place, Elaina can get there the moment she arrives.
As for the guards at the Labyrinth entrance itself, they stopped Elaina but she then showed them the permit, allowing her entry.
And just like the guards have said, the place that was once just pure soil is now covered with various colors with the most striking color being the green color which came from the leaves.
Elaina wasn’t expecting anything this grand before as she thought that all of the plants she had planted had died in the process especially since she didn’t even bother to take care of them. Yet the situation was not the same as what she was imagining at all.
The plants have grown quite well. All of the vegetables have grown so well that it is comparable to the farm produce. Elaina can also tell that their quality is much higher than regular ones which made Elaina so happy.
Many of the adventurers around have seen Elaina but no one knows that she is the one who planted the plant before so a few of them started to warn Elaina, shouting at her to not step on the plants.
"Miss Farmer! If you are planning to harvest those plants, just give up! There was some sort of barrier preventing anyone from getting close to the plants!"
Elaina smiled. "It’s fine! I know about that!"
She grabbed her little dimensional bag and stepped to the defensive barrier that should have repelled everyone who attempted to harvest the fully grown crops over at the fields. They expected Elaina would be repelled as well as most of them did. However, to their surprise, Elaina freely grabbed one of the grown vegetables, pulled them from the soil, and put it in her bag.
The Harvesting Process that should have been normal for every farmer became a spectacle for the adventurers who were all flabbergasted at how Elaina was harvesting them without even getting repelled by something in the process.
But all of that is nothing for Elaina. After all, it is harvest time!
