Chapter 261: Revitalizing the Lotus

Chapter 261: Revitalizing the Lotus

Elaina did not plant any seeds to the soil. As much as she wanted to start planting already, the soil has yet to adapt to the new climate after the season changed and there is a high chance that the seeds she is going to plant for today would just die the moment she started spreading them on the soil. Since it can be considered a premature spring season, any seeds that only survive during Spring will immediately die today.

It was the advice she got from the Almanac after checking it out. Elaina sighed in relief that she had not started planting seeds after tilling the soil when she checked the Almanac’s content. It is very helpful if she can safely sow seeds now or later.

"I guess even with the advancing new season, the land needed to adapt for a bit and I guess that also makes sense with how the winter season prematurely ended just yesterday," Elaina muttered to herself.

The date of the best time to start sowing seeds is scheduled for tomorrow which means she would only need to prepare the soil for the time being. And with her work done much earlier than expected, Elaina decided to take care of the animals.

Usually, Curaj would be the one working with it right now but since Curaj is among the people who got wasted last night and is currently still asleep, Elaina decided that she will do his job for the time being. It’s not that hard and she should be the one who will be working on this task if not for her pregnancy.

The Wild Cows are still doing fine despite the lack of a barn. Thankfully, the funds for the barn are now secure and ready. She only needed to head over to Jacob to issue a project and let the cows get a new home.

Checking on the Wild Cows, Elaina is very satisfied with Curaj’s work these past few months. He rarely checks the work of Curaj to test if Curaj does his work properly and Elaina is very fortunate for a hard worker like him. Even without her checking now and then over his work, he remains steadfast and honest that his work even reflects it. Signs of his work are pretty much thorough and she can see the place is very clean and tidy. Despite the place being an open area, the place is spotless and clean of snow, dirt, and droppings from the Wild Cows.

Elaina also inspects the Wild Cows if they are properly cared for. Since it was winter before, their long coat of hair that can be harvested has started to grow thick. Elaina had ordered Curaj to not cut them for the time being since the weather was still cold and with only an outdoor heater to use and without a barn to boot, the Wild Cows would freeze to death if they had their coats trimmed off.

But despite being thick, they remained smooth to the touch, they barely have dirt as well, which means they are always being brushed every day, getting rid of any dirt that would start sticking over their coats and harden in the process. They don’t have ticks either which is good as well.

The water trough is always changed with new water every day, evident by the clear water present inside. Although there is no food at the moment inside their food trough, there are signs that the food was present there once. With how big the Wild Cows are, food will be gone in a flash.

Since there was less work to do with them, Elaina only cleaned the water trough and filled the food trough with hay. The only time-consuming work is the gathering of manure droppings. There isn’t much but it takes time as they are big. Luckily, they are not liquid and according to Curaj himself, he also made a manure pit not too far from the area. It was covered with his earth magic to ensure that they wouldn’t smell.

But since Curaj is not yet awake, Elaina will have to make do with herself and how to deal with the Cow Manure. Since she can’t do the same magic that Curaj can use, she decides that she will use this as an extra fertilizer for the crops. It might be disgusting at first but this is how it is on the farm, especially with cattle like cows. Until the barn is not yet made, she will have to manually clean it.

"Boss!" Just as she was about to start clearing the manure, the voice of Curaj entered her ears as he entered the Wild Cow’s shelter.

"Oh, Curaj. Looks like you are sober now. Having any hangover?"

"Thankfully, I don’t feel any hangover but I still feel a bit woozy. Anyways, let me handle that boss. It is my job and I feel guilty about you doing the job that I am paid for."

Elaina didn’t mind cleaning some manure but since Curaj wanted to do it, she didn’t stop him and gave him the tools for clearing out the manure. And besides, he can dispose of the manure much easier than her who has no magic.

Since Curaj took over the job, Elaina went to the chicken coop next and saw the situation of the Hencluckles. Curaj is also the one who should be assigned to this but since he is busy and Elaina is not, she decided to instead do it herself. Besides, it’s not a very big problem at all.

The chicken coop cleans up the Hencluckle’s droppings, leaving the coop clean every time. As for where the dropping goes, Elaina doesn’t know but according to Jacob, they are destroyed by magic and are disposed underground. She also harvested the eggs and quickly finished the job. With the Hencluckle’s tamed nature, they do act like chickens and are not that different from one another at all.

After taking the eggs and shipping them all, Elaina is once again left without work to do. She went to her children but they are playing in their crib and it’s not necessary for her to disturb them in the meantime so what is it that she should do?

As her mind wondered what to do, her eyes wandered around the farm and soon landed on the little fountain and pond that they had created for planting lotus plants.

"That’s it!"

She quickly headed inside the farmhouse and retrieved the lotus seed that Pixie worked hard to cultivate. Since it was winter when the seed was finished cultivating, Elaina couldn’t put it in its proper place immediately after she grew it in shallow water.

The lotus seed has grown quite well but it hasn’t matured yet since it was in a controlled habitat, its growth remains stagnant. But since it is now springtime and compared to the soil that needs time to adapt to the new season, the water on the little pond is already adapting to the new season, Elaina does not need to wait for the next day to replant the Lotus and keep it alive.

Pixie is still sleeping so she will be totally surprised if the lotus is now on the water.

As Elaina is about to put the lotus into the water, the Harvest Goddess approaches as she can tell what Elaina is about to do.

"Looks like today is the day huh? Are you ready to be called the new mother of fairies, Elaina?" the Harvest Goddess snickered.

"Hey, even though I am the one planting this, I am not their mother. The lotus will give birth to them so they should treat that instead of me."

"Doesn’t change the fact that it is you who will make the fairies return to this world once more. There is no turning back once you put that lotus into the water. Are you ready though?"

Elaina nodded. "I made a promise to Pixie, now time to fulfill it."

After saying that, Elaina scooped up the lotus from the water on the basin and slowly and gently put the lotus into the water.

As soon as the lotus landed into the water, bright light started to glow and the two spectators are now seeing the new birth of the new generation of faries whose race have gone extinct until Elaina brought them back from the dead.
