Chapter 260: Spring Is Here

Darcero Kingdom is a very fertile land compared to the other lands in various kingdoms. According to the legends, the reason it is more fertile compared to other lands is due to the Harvest Goddess that is currently living around Darcero Kingdom’s lands who will then proceed to bless the land yearly every time spring arrives.

Of course, the situation has declined as years go by, but it is still much more fertile than the rest, just not that fertile compared to before, allowing the kingdom to keep its title as the kingdom of agriculture.

But...

Everything changed since last night. No one knows about the changes aside from one person who witnessed what transpired that night.

And today, that person is holding a hoe and a rake in each hand as she stares over at her barren field. After getting a little bit of sleep, she feeds her twins with the squeezed milk she had before for them as she just recently drank beer last night the two woke up early in the morning and prepared both of their cribs as they will be staying on the porch while she works on the field. With Julia still asleep after getting drunk last night, she will have to take care of the babies periodically while also doing her current work in the farm.

"It should be still winter season in other kingdoms and yet, here in Darcero Kingdom, winter left early and already switched to Spring Season. Many will suddenly question what sorcery the kingdom did to switch from winter to spring in just a few days and no one would be able to answer that question," Elaina pondered as she observed the sprouting buds of plants all over the field.

"Anyone but you, Elaina. Here is the new bag of fertilizer, by the way," the Harvest Goddess grinned while she dumped a half-full sack containing the Fertilizer that the Harvest Goddess supplies to Elaina which possesses the capability to enhance the growth of crops and enhances its quality

"Wait a minute, the sack has more fertilizer than usual though? Aren’t you adding too much?" Elaina frowned.

"What, you don’t want it? I can take back the increase, you know," the Harvest Goddess teased.

"Hey, hey. I didn’t say that. I am just surprised since this is more than what I know. It kind of makes me suspicious that you are silently charging me for this," Elaina looked at the Harvest Goddess with a judging face.

"Hey, I might be shrewd but I am not going to ruin someone’s life like that. Treat this as a sign of goodwill. With how much your influence helped me restore my status, this much is nothing for me...unless you wanted to have the same amount of fertilizer as before."

Hearing that, Elaina immediately grabbed the sack. "No takebacks. You gave this to me, then this is mine now."

"Relax, I am just joking. I don’t need that anyways, I can make more if I want to."

Putting the sack full of fertilizer on the side, Elaina started stretching her arms before she proceeded to head over to the plants that she had planted during winter.

Despite the season has changed overnight, the plant did not die compared to the regular plants that will die once they reach a season where they are not compatible enough. Elaina had to inspect it closely to ensure that it was not truly going to die and after a decent inspection, she concluded that it was not going to die from a season change.

However, she will have to continue observing the plant for a while. With how the plant is growing yet at a slow rate, Elaina is not sure what these plants will grow into but she hopes it will be useful. They might not be familiar plants but she wanted them to grow as a vegetable or fruit if possible.

"Alright, with how early spring arrived, half of the remaining time for winter is now going to become an early spring, right?" Elaina asked the Harvest Goddess.

"Yes. That should be the case. In short, everyone in Darcero Kingdom will have a decent headstart in planting spring crops and harvesting them."

Elaina smiled hearing it and looked at the field.

"Let’s get to work then."

Despite the snow melting yesterday, not all snow has melted completely. In short, there is still some snow left behind that is in need of clearing. They will melt eventually, but if she wanted to plant the spring crops, snow is a primary target to be removed.

Using the rake, Elaina started scraping through the ground to remove the snow from the soil without fully digging through the soil she used a shovel instead of the rake. It was troublesome to use, but Elaina is good at using the tools so she continues to sweep the small snow around slowly but surely.

Once she gets to fully remove the snow from the soil, she would then put it on a pile away from the field and let it melt over once the sun is hot enough to slowly melt the remaining snow around the kingdom.

It was hard work but Elaina is not a beginner at doing it, so she slowly finished the job without anyone’s help. Of course, she didn’t forget to stop her work from time to time to watch over her twins who were playing in the crib. She will play with them for a bit before she returns to her work. She does this a few times to ensure that she will be done before lunch. By the time the other people who got drunk last night woke up and suffering from a hangover, Elaina was finally done with her raking work.

"Ugh...looks like it is true that for farmers, Spring is the busiest time," Elaina muttered to herself as she wiped off the sweat on her forehead.

"Indeed it was the busiest time, Elaina. Which is why you can’t just run away from your responsibilities. If you want to become a great farmer, work hard and expand the farm to the fullest of your abilities," the Harvest Goddess said as she floated in the air, eating some peeled oranges.

Drinking water from the drinking bottle, Elaina then remembered something.

"Oh, it seems that the ban of entry from the people of Luminiera Kingdom is about to end soon. It’s almost a year...isn’t it?"

The Harvest Goddess frowned upon hearing this. How could she not know about it? If not for this ban, the situation might be messier than before and Elaina might not give birth properly to the twins due to the stress. Hearing that the ban is about to lifted soon, she can tell something will soon come in the future that will shake Elaina’s peaceful life once again.

"I hope not," the Harvest Goddess silently muttered under her breath.
