Chapter 252: Binding Vine Chain [I]

While both Duke Darcy and Julia are busy defending Elaina, Elaina quickly goes to do her work and makes sure that everything works properly without any mistakes.

Getting the mana stone in her bag, Elaina put a few on the soil to the tree’s roots. At first, Elaina thought that it would take a few days for it to work, but before she could even put the other mana stones, the first mana stone she put suddenly melted into a bluish liquid and slowly seeped to the ground as the tree started to glow faintly. It isn’t glowing too much but it is showing the signs.

Seeing it work, Elaina didn’t waste her time and put the mana stones one by one to the ground and let them seep straight into the tree which consumed the mana stones at a rapid pace. It didn’t take long for the mana to completely envelop the whole tree and even Julia and Duke Darcy took notice of it while they were fighting.

The glow wasn’t bright enough to light up the whole area, but it was enough to cause the Snow Men around the tree to melt to pieces and kill the rest.

Elaina was surprised but seeing the result, she is now certain that this will work.

"Gods, how do I know if this tree is already good enough with mana stones?"

"[The tree will be good enough once it glows brightly like right now. You have supplied the tree with sufficient mana stone to glow this bright. You are good to go.]" the God of Farming answered.

Looking at the tree, it is indeed glowing bright and it is now recognizable from its glow. It also exudes quite a bit of energy that seems the Snow Men hate as they melt into nothingness after they are exposed to the light.

Now that Elaina is done with the first tree, she stands up and reunites with the two who are waiting for her after all the enemies in the area are gone.

"Sis, what was that? How did it destroy the monsters we were fighting a second ago in one single light? They looked like they got exorcised as a result," Julia asked Elaina for an explanation.

"Honestly? I also have no idea. I only followed the instructions on what this tree needed to function properly so it is also my first time seeing the effect first hand."

Elaina wasn’t expecting any grand effect, but seeing the impact firsthand was better than she thought. The impact might be little and simple but it was a destructive effect against the monsters. Perhaps if all the trees are done with the supplying process, then perhaps it will increase its range.

"Seeing that the result is eliminating those Snow Men like nothing, I think the plan that Miss Elaina wanted to do is effective," Duke Darcy approved of the method as well and he picked up the remains of the Snow Men’s clothing as that was the only thing left from them after they disintegrated.

"Does that mean, we are done?" Julia asked.

"No. We still have three more trees to visit. They are a bit farther from here so we will have to hustle before the monsters come swarming."

The two nodded without any problems and with Zaza and Shardu, they continued towards their destination.

The monsters in that area have been destroyed but not every monster was caught as evident from the Snow Men and their variants that started chasing us when we managed to leave the protected area of the tree.

"It seems the tree itself was making a sanctuary that destroys and stops the Snow Men from spawning or even materializing near it. Now that we have left the area, we are now back to the current situation," Julia said after noticing the changes.

"So the light earlier was a sanctuary? If we finish this job, will the whole kingdom be covered in this sanctuary and stop the monsters for good?" Duke Darcy asked.

"A possibility. I am not sure about that one, but we can only know once we are done with it," Elaina answered. Although the gods made sure that this would be a helpful endeavor in the end, the situation is something she still has no idea what will come next as even the gods are not sure if this will work in the end.

Compared to the time when Elaina and Princess Margaux have passed the area they are following now, the situation is much harder for them to pass through.

Not only do the monsters around the area continue to attack, but they also continue to increase their numbers despite the efforts that Julia and Duke Darcy are making. There’s only a little those attacks can do to the growing threat.

"The weather is getting colder. Even with all these clothes in my body, I am still feeling the freeze in my body," Duke Darcy said as he zipped up his jacket close.

"I agree with you. I just wish this winter would end soon. I have not experienced a winter this brutal and I don’t want to continue experiencing things like this," Julia nodded in agreement.

Elaina only listened to them. Thanks to the buff she got from taking a bath in the hot springs, the weather doesn’t even affect her in the slightest.

Thankfully, their long journey has arrived to another stop as they arrived at the second tree. Compared to the first tree where only random Snow Men are currently flying around, this time, it seems that they are previously gathered around the area as the number of monsters they are seeing is much more than before.

"Their numbers are a bit too much. We need to break through them by force," Elaina gripped her sword’s hilt tight.

"Let’s make this quick! We will hold off the monsters once we cleared enough of them! We will open an opportunity for you to do what you need to do, Miss Elaina!" Duke Darcy spins his pistols on his fingers.

Julia cast her flames and started to ignite every Snow Men to flames.

"Don’t rush yourself, Julia! Conserve your powers and don’t rush yourself to deal with all of them!" Elaina shouted as she disabled most enemies with her sword slashes. She can’t afford to just break the cores of the monsters or else, trouble will ensue in the end.

Duke Darcy continues to blast through the attackers one by one and soon enough, they have finally broken through the horde of monsters. Most of the effort was done by both Duke Darcy and Julia. Elaina only broke through the enemies that blocked her way and let the other two do the work of distracting the monsters.

Making sure they were in a safe area, Elaina started supplying the tree with the mana stone she collected painstakingly without waiting for anything else.

Before the mana stones even melt like before, the tree suddenly glows brightly and a few vines suddenly appear out of thin air and start to swirl around the tree. As soon as that happens, it then extends over to the sky and seems to connect with the first tree’s similar thing that shot up to the sky after Elaina put all the mana stones.
