Chapter 250: Farm Defense [III]

"Grandma? Grandpa? Duke Darcy? Why are you all in here? And what’s with these groups of people with you?" Elaina was not expecting to see them. After all, they should be busy defending the city right now.

"What we are doing here? Of course to help out with the clearing operation! Would we just leave our granddaughter and a few noncombatants to fight alone with these monsters that even regular adventurers are having trouble with?" Grandpa grinned as he picked up one of the cores on the ground and threw it into the air, where Duke Darcy then proceeded to shoot it and break it to pieces.

"What about the city? Shouldn’t you guys be protecting the guild or the palace at this point?" Elaina frowned.

"Don’t worry about it, the guild has no shortage of capable people who can subjugate the monsters attacking. We needed all the manpower to protect the populace around the town so we have deployed everyone to keep the town safe," Grandma Liliana answered.

"The Snow Men that have the concentrated status are around your farm which is understandable as one of the forest’s entrances is part of your farm. We will focus on the two focal points to ensure the Snow Men won’t continue appearing," Grandpa Rakkan added.

Two focal points...Elaina immediately remembered the two entrances of the forest. One on her farm and one that is just on the outskirts of the town where the majority of the people use to access the forest without the need to intrude on the property of Elaina. She had not personally seen the second entrance though as she didn’t have any reason to enter from there.

The Snow Men’s numbers continue to increase but thanks to the efforts of everyone, and due to the help of Rakkan and Liliana’s capabilities, it was a smooth experience compared to the time when the only combatants were Julia and Elaina.

Seeing that there were more combatants to help out, Julia now managed to take it easy and have a good rest to recover both her mana and her stamina as she slowly lost them the more they fight the Snow Men.

"Sir Rakkan, unidentified monsters that are identical to the Snow Men are coming in groups! they are approaching in around 30 seconds to our location!" one of the surveying druids said, alerting everyone in the vicinity.

"Pick up the pace, Lads! These winter monsters are not something that we should underestimate, get ready!" Rakkan shouted, rallying everyone.

"OH!" everyone raised their weapons and they soon found the monsters flowing from the entrance.

"These monsters...I see now why they are unidentified from the scans...they are new species that evolved from the regular Snow Men variants!"

Elaina frowned as she also had not seen the variant of Snow Man before.

The monster is still similar looking to the regular one, except that the Snow Man’s attire is much more decent and looks like a regular white coat. It also has a scarf around its neck like a snowman made during winter holidays by kids but its hands are not twigs with three branches that would act as its fingers, it has a growing trunk in the shape of roots and extends over that acts like tentacles.

As for the face of the new monster, it does resemble a regular handmade snowman, but its mouth can open, revealing a maw of disgusting flesh underneath.

Duke Darcy did not bother to let it keep on flying and started blasting his dual handgun repeatedly, unloading all bullets in one go. But even with that, the new monster is not even dead.

"Tenacious bastard!"

Elaina saw the monster that Duke Darcy attacked stagger a bit. Sensing that it was about to die, Elaina cut its body very quickly. However, compared to the Snow Man that they fought before, this one felt more like they were fighting a fleshy version of the Snow Man, just that it is covered with ice and snow while the regular one is like fighting a regular golem but much more agile and easy to break.

Nevertheless, the new variant isn’t so different in terms of slaying it. Even with the destruction of any parts of its body, as long as its core is still intact, it will continue to move. But compared to its regular variant, this one is harder to defeat. Not only does its core have different locations, but it also has areas where the core is buried so deep inside its body and one has to dig deep or slice its body to pieces to make sure anyone got the core.

The only upside against this monster is that compared to the regular ones, the core of the variant does not explode and freeze the area once destroyed.

"They are getting numerous in number...everyone, make sure that you all are not too exhausted. We will have to ensure these guys will not breach through our defenses!" Grandma Liliana proceeded to cast a Wide Heal, healing everyone including Elaina from their wounds and fatigue.

Elaina looked around for more enemies to attack when a new message from the gods appeared before her. It came from the God of Farming.

"[Elaina, I suggest you use the mana stones you collected now. With everyone ready to fight and defend your farm, we should finish everything. Seeing the all-out attack of the successor, there is a chance that it is just a tactic of the successor to weaken the forces and make everyone do not suspect the current happenings. Let’s stop the attack once and for all.]"

"You guys are serious about filling the gap in case the trees needed more mana?" Elaina frowned.

"[Yes. Holding back will not do us good. And with how the monsters are appearing without any end in sight, we shall do a counterattack ourselves and get the culprit once and for all.]"

Elaina nodded and grit her teeth. She agree with the notion itself and put away her sword. She is necessary to make the operation of these Snow Men into a full stop.
