A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods -
Chapter 182: Convincing the Goddess of Medicine
Chapter 182: Convincing the Goddess of Medicine
Julia couldn’t respond as Elaina questioned her all of a sudden. It was not something she expected to be learned immediately by someone.
As for Elaina, the moment she confronted Julia, the Goddess of Medicine also noticed her question and started to berate the God of Farming.
"[Hey, you should not cause any trouble to my new child by using your favorite child to harass mine!]" the Goddess of Medicine hissed at the God of Farming who smirked.
"[Are you alright in the head? Why would I cause any harassment on her by using Elaina? And what does that child have to do with the problem you have with me right now? Besides, I am thankful for her for taking care of Elaina like a real sister even though she isn’t even blood-related, so what are you on?]"
Elaina ignored the two gods and looked at Julia.
"Yeah, I am blessed by the Goddess just recently. I was in the middle of creating the medicine when she suddenly acknowledged my ability to create various things that can help cure others and she liked the new medicine. However, when she asked for the ingredients and learned about the fruit, she suddenly departed, saying she had to confront the God who was responsible for it. Isn’t it the God of Farming who blessed you with his powers the one who gave it to you, Sis?" Julia asked.
"Yes. And right now, I can tell they are still arguing."
Julia’s eyes went wide when Elaina said it. "You can still communicate with the God of Farming?"
"Right. He hasn’t just dropped me after giving me his blessing and has continuously supported me throughout the way and given us help whenever necessary. You can say that the fast-growing plants I have is one of his creations."
"Wait, really? So that means, he still contacts you now and then?" Julia asks more and gets really curious about Elaina’s situation and her weird relationship with the God of Farming.
"Indeed. But let’s not talk about that right now. I just wanted to confirm that it was you. Congrats on earning the recognition of a god, Julia. I must say that you are quite good at your craft if the Goddess herself would suddenly look at your work and bless you for it."
"Yes. It was quite an honor indeed. But I didn’t need this blessing, to be honest. I just did this task since you asked Sis and also to help you out with your business and help the Princesses with their problems. Knowing how you act, I am quite certain that once you decide to spread that fruit to the public, you will find a way to gain money from it."
Elaina grinned. "As someone who runs a business, of course, I would find a way to profit from it as efficiently as possible."
"And since I am your partner in crime, of course, my assistance is necessary. But yeah, I didn’t expect her arrival, and she suddenly blessed me with her powers. It was all quite surprising that I don’t even know if I should start focusing on the path of making medicine or keep it as some side hustle."
"Why make a choice when you can keep both? It’s not like you will have to make it a full-time thing. Just do it like how you usually do right now. Doing it like a job will just wear you out. Think of it as something you want to do when you have nothing to do."
"But what if the goddess forces me to do so?"
"Well, it’s not her choice if you want to pursue the path of medicine or not. If she forces you on something you don’t want to do, then just surrender that blessing instead."
Julia smiled. "Yeah, you are right. What is the point of having a blessing like that if I am locked into it without being able to do anything I want."
Elaina looked at the cream in Julia’s hands and fell into thought.
"Sis?"
"Are you going to give this to those two?" Elaina asked.
"Yeah. I will. And as for the person who has done the deed to petrify others, I will be doing my job to get rid of them."
"Job?" Elaina was surprised.
"I didn’t tell you this matter Sis, since it was something that was only given as an assignment by my mentor who taught me how to wield magic spells. The task given to me by Master is to apprehend and stop anyone who tries to abuse the magic at their disposal. And if they dabble into black magic, then the more I needed to get them disposed of."
"Isn’t this a dangerous job?" Elaina is worried.
"It is dangerous, but I will be employing the help of Princess Tabatha on this one and apprehend the enemy in time. Sis, just support me here on the farm and wait for our return once we do the deed of dealing with the enemy."
Elaina sighed. "Alright. However, be careful and don’t just charge through the enemy. If only I am not pregnant right now, then I will be joining with you on this one."
"Haha, next time Sis."
"Ah, by the way, once you guys will be heading back to the castle, talk to me for I will be handing out something that will help out in trouble and if you guys are on a pinch."
Julia nodded at this. If she wanted to do this matter then she would have to do it once and for all.
The two went out of the pocket dimension and just like what Julia promised, the smells that disappeared from the buff she cast on her returned. It was like her nose was just unclogged afterward.
With Julia discussing things with the two sisters, Elaina the other hand sat on her rocking chair outside the patio and started to read the conversation logs of the god’s quarrel. Seeing that they are now peaceful, it seems that the two gods have decided to quell their dispute over the new fruit.
"Finally done quarreling?" Elaina asked.
"[They are not yet done, Elaina my dear. Although they have stopped to do anything so far right now, they have yet to stop their conflict. They just run out of words to say to each other and are just staring daggers without even blinking. Honestly, they look freaky. If only you could see it.]" the God of Fishing answered Elaina’s question.
She admitted that she was curious about how the situation was in the realm of the gods and what was currently transpiring there at the moment. But with only words to communicate, she has no choice but to imagine what currently is happening there.
"Well, okay. I don’t mind if they continue to fight but may I suggest something to the Goddess of Medicine? She can ignore me or not, just let her know my words."
"[We can relay that matter, Dear. State it, what do you want to say to her?]" the Goddess of Taming asked.
"Tell her to drop her pride and instead of keeping it up, she should instead collaborate with the God of Farming to help out on her work on the medicine making. If she has trouble with her own medicine, then perhaps getting to work with the God of Farming might allow her to get out of the slump."
"[Hey, that’s not a bad idea. The guy already works in dealing with plants, might as well help out in growing some herbs, yes? Not a bad thing I must say and that would also get to keep her busy as well.]" The God of Fishing approves immediately.
"[I think so too. Thanks for the suggestion, Dear Elaina. This will help out a lot in the process of stopping their fight. It’s gotten stale to watch right now.]" The Goddess of Taming said.
Elaina can only sigh. It seems the Gods didn’t even intend to stop the two from quarreling and just wanted to watch them do it. And if not for her words, perhaps the two would just continue to do it without even getting a chance of stopping.
Now, why would Elaina try to give a reason to her with that suggestion? One thing that Elaina noticed is that most or almost all of the plants that the God of Farming wanted to create or has been creating have been related to healing effects, which means that he indeed plans to release plants that can heal normal people from sickness. And if he does create more of these, Elaina also gets the chance to get her hands on those plants. Planting and getting their fruits and then selling or converting them to products smells like profit.
And for someone who runs a business, Elaina doesn’t want to pass up on that tiny chance that the Goddess of Medicine would agree.
Then, a few minutes later, the Goddess of Medicine’s chat box appeared, designed to have some bandage art on it and the caduceus symbol on the other side.
"Human, are you saying you want me, the Goddess of Medicine work with this lunkhead of a God?"
After hearing her voice, Elaina grinned. She took the bait. It is time to negotiate and bargain with a goddess.
