A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods
Chapter 160: Lunchtime Leisure

Chapter 160: Lunchtime Leisure

Elaina and the group enter the house. She first prioritized the Harvest Goddess who was injured the most from the chaos earlier. Elaina called the Feys and the little fairy to see if there were bad things currently the Harvest Goddess is enduring without revealing it. She knew that the Harvest Goddess did not want to worry others so she couldn’t just let her be complacent either. It is also one of the suggestions that the God of Farming gave to Elaina as well.

"So that one you sent to heal is a goddess? No wonder that big magic spell she used earlier contains some holy magic being used. Although it is a bit weak, that was enough to stop those guys from fighting and destroying this place earlier."

Elaina nodded. "Yes. But please keep it a secret. Although she is a goddess, she is still pretty weak and doesn’t have as much power as the traditional goddesses. We don’t want to get unnecessary attention from others who would learn her existence and try to take advantage of her."

"We are not so foolish to do that. We know the risks of the gods and goddesses revealing themselves to humans. If she chooses to reveal herself like this to you, then she trusts you so much to the point she will not fear her safety is in jeopardy with you. And her helping out like earlier, is a sign that she is not a bad god either."

Elaina’s grandparents glanced at the three people who were still wary of them: Curaj, Alessa, and her baby whom she was cradling, Mier.

"Interesting dynamic you have here, Elaina. Someone who is the same species as those guys I have sent away and a halfling," Grandpa looked at them with a scrutinizing gaze.

"Grandpa, don’t scare them like that! Don’t worry, they are with us. Alessa and Mier are just victims here. As for Curaj, he is an employee that Sis hired so don’t be so harsh on them!" Julia defended them.

Grandpa was surprised but he started laughing. "No, no. I am sorry if I did that. I am just wary about them, you see. Thanks for explaining. Still, seeing you here made me remember the time you were with Elaina back then. How time flies by, isn’t it, dear?" he then turned to his wife.

"Yes indeed. Julia was still not strong when we last saw her. Her mana was barely there as well back then but now, she is overwhelmed with one. It was like she had been honed since the very beginning"

Hearing this, Julia scratches her head, embarrassed. Elaina nodded as well. If both her grandparents said that, then it must be true. She doesn’t notice it since she can’t use magic at all therefore, she has a hard time even knowing what is good magic. But if it is her grandparents then it is a different story. Her Grandma is one of the people called by the world the "Saint" due to her overwhelming mana that no human usually should have and yet she possesses it. Not only that, she is considered as one of the grand wizards of her time, and even now, she is still one of the strongest people known in the existence of humans.

As for her grandfather, he is the one commonly known as the "Hero" who journeyed the whole world as they solved the problems of this world and brought back peace as they drove away what was called Primordial Evil, corrupting everything on their path.

By now, both of them have retired from that job of theirs but they are still training soldiers and are considered as higher-ups in the Adventurer’s Guild and Mage Tower. They are constantly training people to ensure that the world will never get to be surprised if the Primordial Evil rises once again. Despite being retirees, the world values them for their feats. And if not for them, this world would still be plunged into chaos until now.

Elaina smiled and offered them all a seat. Of course, Troy is the first one to sit on one of the chairs. He was familiar with Elaina and before she could say it, he was already in position.

"Sit back and relax. You guys might have traveled far enough and are tired. I will cook something to let you guys fill in your stomach and as a repayment for helping us get out of that predicament.

Grandpa and Grandma looked around the surroundings with curiosity painted on their faces.

"I heard that this house already existed since you moved in, Elaina. And with Julia here helping you out, you girls slowly managed to make enough money to repair the house," Grandpa continues to rate the surroundings as he rubs his beard.

"Yes. Troy also helped a lot when I was still starting up. If not for both of them, I would have a harder time all by myself, especially with my pregnancy."

Grandpa ruffled Julia’s hair and laughed heartily after hearing this. "Haha, seeing Julia here becoming a little bit plump than before might be the result of coming here. Looks like your decision to quit your job as a maid on the castle is a good decision for you."

Grandma shook her head and took Julia off of his hands. "Don’t listen to him, Julia. You are not plump, but you look more healthy than before which is a great thing. And with Elaina not treating you as a servant, your body has become stronger than before. I can sense your mana has increased. And that barrier when we entered, that was your barrier, right? That is something hard to maintain without concentrating hard and yet you are doing it like nothing."

"Eh? Really? I thought that was a normal thing. Master said that to me maintaining a barrier like this shouldn’t be hard and maintaining one like this is mandatory for a good magician," Julia scratches her head.

"What? No way, your master must be joking. Most magicians are not capable of being this good by the get-go. No teacher will teach their students like that. Tell me who this master of yours is and I will talk to him one on one," Grandma seems furious.

"Uh, my master was a female and...I don’t know too much and she just reached me randomly since he said I had the potential. She calls herself by the name "Vy" but I don’t know if that is her real name.

When Grandma heard that, she stopped and coughed a little. "I think I should retract what I said. Never mind, what she said is true. I don’t need to say much."

Elaina was a bit confused about what her grandma was suddenly doing but Elaina didn’t mind what was happening and decided to continue cooking. Since she had the ingredients and lots of people who would eat, she decided to do the meat and vegetable stew. Julia helped her out on this one. Using all the fresh ingredients necessary and prepared by Elaina, Julia efficiently cut them one by one with proficiency in her knife skills that even Grandpa was surprised by it.

In the end, the smell of the stew wafted all over the room, making everyone’s mouth water.

"Haaah... it’s been a long time since I smelled something good like this, makes me remember my time when I was still wandering around the world with you and the others just to solve problems," Grandpa couldn’t help himself but reminisce on the past.

Elaina also called the others to join in to eat. The Harvest Goddess also recovered fast enough and thanks to the Feys, it seems her condition is not that bad. She just needed some rest and she will be fine. Elaina invited her to eat as well and the glutton Harvest Goddess didn’t even decline and was one of the first to even grab her plate and spoon to eat.

Glancing at her grandparents, Elaina already has an idea of why the two are currently here. She knew that both of them were here to inquire about what was currently happening with her parents, the situation with her divorce, and the state of her pregnancy. However, after today’s incident, it seems they decided to hold off talking about it.

The lunch time was quite fun and lively and Elaina felt like she just did a little party despite just having a stew as the only food available. Still, even after the battle, they couldn’t rest. Since there was still some work left, after lunchtime ended, Curaj and the others returned to work. As for Alessa and Mier, they returned to their realm for a bit. Despite the entrance being broken, according to the Harvest Goddess, she can fix it just fine. Due to the earlier trouble, Alessa decided to just stop helping for now on the farm as she wanted to reflect on herself and what to do next. She is still disturbed by what her father was willing to do just to fulfill a tradition.

When Elaina was now alone with her grandparents and Troy, it seemed that their smiles became serious.

"...You guys came here to discuss things with me regarding the situation I was in, right?" Elaina looked at them.

"Although I am supposed to answer ’Yes’ on that, we are here specifically to see if you are doing well. After hearing the news about what happened to the Emperor of Luminiera Kingdom and your divorce, we wanted to know the real reason for this matter. We tried asking Troy here about the reason but according to him, we should know this news straight from you, so we decided that we should have a "vacation" and visit you to inquire about this matter."

Elaina smiled upon hearing this and offered them a few snacks of fruits and biscuits to the table. "Sit tight, it might take a long time to explain everything in detail but I will make sure to tell everything concisely."
