Chapter 159: Grandpa and Grandma

Elaina felt weird all of a sudden. The situation seems to have calmed down and yet she can tell that those guys have yet to leave. There is no way they will leave just like that even if she has only wounded the leader of the group. Instead, that should fuel their fury, and would try their all just to eliminate the wall that separates them.

And yet, it is strangely quiet.

"Julia, can you tell what is happening outside? You can use some kind of magic to view anywhere right?"

"It’s not stable at the moment due to the presence of the merfolk king that is disrupting the barrier’s integrity and my source for mana but I can try to do that and see what I can find," Julia proceeds to channel her mana around her body and soon developed a little projection that allows them to view what is happening outside.

"It’s a bit hazy...hold on..." Julia continued to tweak a bit on her abilities before the scene slowly cleared up.

"That’s...!" Elaina was surprised and was not expecting things to be happening outside. Even Julia was surprised. Because what they see on the screen is none other than the grandparents of Elaina and Troy, currently beating up the merfolks barehanded and destroying them with magic. The former group of merfolk that was attacking earlier slowly dwindled in number before their very eyes.

"It’s grandpa and grandma!" Julia was surprised and exclaimed at the sight of the two.

"Grandpa and grandma?" the Harvest Goddess is still in the middle of recovering so she looked at the two of them who seemed to be happy at their arrival.

"They are my grandparents from my Father’s side. They are also the ones who gave me the sword that I am holding now."

The Harvest Goddess glanced at Elaina’s sword and back to the two figures on the projection and was a bit overwhelmed after realizing how strong those people were for them to be able to procure the sword just for them to give it to their granddaughter. But she has no obligation to tell Elaina the truth about this sword on her hands. She will know it eventually, but not from her.

Elaina also noticed Troy was just behind them and seemed to be looking concerned and disturbed by the sight that the two did after the attacks. He is holding fine, but he looks like he is about to puke.

Both Grandma and Grandpa dealt with all the soldiers all that was left was the king, the medic healing the merfolk king, his retainer, and a few merfolk soldiers who were firmly guarding the king from them. They are currently talking but because Julia’s magic only involves being able to see what is happening outside, they couldn’t hear whatever they were saying.

As the Grandpa continues to talk, the king who is still clutching his eye suddenly puts his trident to the Grandpa’s neck which makes even Elaina flinch. She feared that her grandpa would be harmed in the process but what happens next is something she and her companions looking at the situation would expect.

CRACK!

The sound of a cracking sound was loud enough that even without the speaker, Elaina and the others could hear it. Grandpa held the trident being aimed at his neck and in a tight squeeze, broke the trident to pieces like it was made of rock brittle enough to crumble under a force.

As usual, they couldn’t hear what they were saying but Elaina could tell that the merfolk king’s face shifted from his usual arrogant look to a terrified look. Maybe it was amplified by the pain that Elaina inflicted with his eye, but it might have added up to the point that this guy is now on the verge of cowering in fear.

The next thing that happened is the king running away like a kid which was then followed by the other followers, confused by the behavior the king showed earlier.

"The heavy pressure...it is gone..." the Harvest Goddess said as she slowly stood up.

"I don’t see any hostiles either and the only ones left are Mr. Troy, Grandpa, and Grandma," Julia added to the observation.

With the king of the merfolks running away, the farm returned to normal. So after realizing that the outside is no longer a place full of danger, the Harvest Goddess retracted the walls covering the whole house and had the place return to normal. But after doing so, she immediately collapsed, and Julia swiftly caught her.

That’s when Elaina’s grandpa and grandma appeared in their view as they looked at the farmhouse covered by the vines earlier.

"Wow, although it looks old, it looks great and comfy. Kind of like a vacation house or something!" Grandpa grinned as he rated the farmhouse.

"Not only that, this farm is huge and amazing. Not only does it have a huge space for farming and other stuff, I can feel the spirits are abundant in here. And they are not yet tainted by any of the outside world’s influence. This place is a preservation spot for the spirits!" Grandma exclaimed as she looked around, excited like a young girl seeing something amazing for the first time.

"G-granma? Grandpa? What are you guys doing here?" Elaina still couldn’t believe her eyes as she saw both of them standing before her.

"Hahaha, what? Are we not allowed to visit the farm at all?" Grandpa grinned.

"N-no way! How could I?"

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Silly granddaughter. Come here and hug us. It’s been a few years since you last visited us and yet you never visited us again. You even said that you would visit us once you get pregnant and yet here we are, officially visiting you since you won’t even get to visit," Elaina’s grandmother pouted as she beckoned Elaina.

Elaina smiled and rushed to the embrace of her grandmother. Elaina can smell the same smell that calms her down. The same smell that made her forget all of the bad memories back when she was still a child. Both the granddaughter and grandmother share a passionate hug that is enough to bring a tear to the eye after their reunion.

"I missed you so much, Grandma. I am sorry I haven’t visited for a while."

"I missed you too, hun. You don’t know how I have been worried for you these past few months since we received news regarding you."

"I am sorry to have worried the two of you so much," Elaina is barely holding her tears.

"You don’t need to worry too much, we are here."

While the two continued to share a passionate hug, one guy seemed dissatisfied about it.

"Hey, I know you guys have not met for a long while but don’t keep hogging your granddaughter like that, I am next in line, you know? I am still waiting."

The two separated and Grandma clicked her tongue as she handed Elaina to him.

"Tch, stupid musclehead. Read the mood and not break it immediately alright?"

"Hehe, sorry about that. But you are not the only one who misses our granddaughter you know?"

Elaina grinned as her grandfather ruffled her hair like he usually does. Compared to when she was still a kid, she doesn’t complain anymore when he does it to her hair.

"You have grown so much. How time flies by," Grandpa gestures a hug to Elaina.

"And you never changed a single thing, Grandpa," Elaina approached him and the two shared a hug as well. They didn’t linger for long compared to when Elaina hugged her grandmother though.

"Hah...as much as I hate huggings so much, missing someone like this can just make you do it. But I can’t do it for long, I am uncomfortable. I want to be more casual like normal."

Elaina then turned to Troy who was just finishing himself from cleaning his mouth after he puked a few times in the lavatory located outside for those who wanted to do the business while working and didn’t want to go inside the farm to do the business.

"Well, they insisted they wanted to see you for so long. So after they finalized everything from their schedule, they decided to visit Darcero Kingdom for a few days of vacation. Their first course of action is to visit you here. Thankfully, it seems that it was the right decision to do so. Who would have thought those merfolks from earlier would be coming here in the first place?"

"Haha, those punks. Do they think they have the right to mess around with someone else’s family? Well, if they are strong enough to even survive from me, then perhaps they would qualify. Of course, if they are qualified."

"So you guys made them run in fear?" Elaina asked.

"Heh, they decided to flee on their own. If I see them once again, killing those soldiers will not be enough for them."

"Well enough of that, I am sure that you guys were stressed about that situation earlier. So just forget about it," Grandma said.

Elaina nodded and agreed to that. "Yeah. You guys as well. You have come far from home, you guys must have been pooped after all the work done including the trouble earlier. Come rest inside the house. I will prepare some food for everyone. Fresh from the farm!"
