Chapter 151: Assist Upgrade

Because Elaina barely understood what the God of Farming said, the God of Farming had no choice but to make a step-by-step preview of the new feature that he was talking about. But it seems that he is not letting her know it just yet.

"[You should wait until tomorrow, Elaina. It is late now and you still won’t understand things if you don’t see it personally.]" the God of Farming said, leaving Elaina confused.

"Seriously? I needed to wait until tomorrow?" Elaina frowned.

"[Well, if you understood what I said earlier, I would have continued to tell you how it works properly but seeing that you are having trouble understanding what I said, you have no choice but to wait.]"

Elaina sighed. "Fine."

She has little information on how her blessing actually works. All she knows is that most of it is still not accessible to her as long as she is pregnant as most of the functions of the Almanac are involved in getting physical activities. And her pregnancy prevents her from getting most of it so the God of Farming has to seal most of it.

Now, whatever the Assist Upgrade is, Elaina hopes it won’t diminish the daily FP she earns. She might not accomplish all of the missions every day but her income from it is very steady and having a steady supply of FP would allow her to purchase a few blueprints that she can use to expand the farm in the future. All she can do right now is to wait until tomorrow comes.

The next day, rain starts to pour into the sky. Elaina checked her Almanac’s weather table to see whether the weather would remain this gloomy. Thankfully, it will stop raining by the time it reaches the afternoon time but it will remain a gloomy rain the entire morning. It isn’t so bad as the crops will be watered automatically and the heat will be diminished.

Since Elaina would not be working like usual, she didn’t wear her usual attire and besides, it is getting tighter for her now and she can’t properly wear it without feeling it suffocating in her body.

She went to the patio, outside of her house, enough to be outside, yet shielded from the rain itself.

"So, Mr. God of Farming, tell me about this new upgrade. You said you would tell me this morning."

"[Sure. Although the weather is not in a good state, it’s fine and I think it would work fine. Pull out your Almanac.]"

Elaina snapped her fingers and the almanac reappeared from her hands.

"[Now, open to your daily tasks. I am quite sure you are familiar with where it is now, right?]"

"Yes, pretty sure. I have been flipping that page daily," Elaina quickly navigated on the pages, and in just a few flips, her fingers arrived on the page of the daily tasks page.

"[Good. Now, for the record, I modified the daily tasks this time around since this will act as some kind of new tutorial for the upgrade. Don’t complain to me before I say anything though, the FP you will gain is not deducted, and you will still earn it even if most of the tasks here are scripted by me to be easily conducted.]"

Elaina couldn’t say anything since what the God of Farming said was true, she was ready to talk to him about it. Before Elaina can say anything about it, the God of Farming already predicted her to do that.

"[Now, look at your first task. It is an easy task since it involves watering the plants. Normally, this quest shouldn’t appear during rainy days, noticed it?]"

"Yeah, now that you mention it, every time it rains, this quest is not present and yet during sunny days, this quest is always present."

"[Indeed. However, it is currently raining today so why is this quest currently in the questline? I know I rigged it but why do it? Well, look again on the quest.]"

"Hmmm...wait, it’s already accomplished...but I didn’t water any plants nor I am moving from where I stood?" Elaina frowned as she saw the quest was now marked as accomplished and the number of plants watered had been met."

"[See that? Usually, you can only accomplish the task if you do the task yourself. However, even before you can even do or even make any changes to the state of the plants, the task is already completed which shouldn’t be possible.]"

"That is strange. Is this part of the upgrade you were talking about?"

"[Part of it, yes. But first, you should do another task to make sure you are following it. The second task should be perfect.]"

"Feed any animals or monsters, zero out of 1."

"[Simple task, yes? By now, the Feys are already working in the field so why not call one of them to handle it?]"

Elaina nodded and called one of the Feys and it was the son, Joe.

"Morning boss! You have any task you want me to do?" Joe asked.

"Yeah. Can you please give the Hencluckles some of their feed? Their feed should be easily dispensed by pressing one button outside their coop."

"Alright, Boss. Got it."

Joe disappeared before Elaina and reappeared in front of the coop and pushed the button that dispenses the feed for the Hencluckles. The food and water should be automatically replaced by the coop by now.

"Done, boss. Anything else?"

"Nothing more. Thanks. You can go back to what you are doing."

Joe nodded and returned to where he was before, taking some of the harvests on the plants. Elaina looked at the coop for a bit before she looked at her task on the dailies page and just like what she expected, the task that would need her to feed any animals is now marked as complete as well.

"Wait, does this mean...anything that can assist me in accomplishing all the goals on the Almanac will now be possible to be done even without my actions?"

"[Very close, but not quite, Elaina. To first accomplish the task, you need to ensure and see that the task is completed by your own eyes. In short, you need to see that the task is carried out and the results are also accomplished. So even if you asked someone else to do the task or if you just let the rain do its intended purpose, the moment you see those things as "accomplished", then the tasks labeled on the pages, are marked accomplished. This also applies to the tasks on weeklies as well.]"

"So this is why it is called Assist Upgrade? But is that it?"

"[Yep. Nothing else. As much as you would complain things about me, I couldn’t unlock other features just yet. This upgrade will also be removed once you are now free from your pregnancy as well, so it isn’t permanent but a limited-time upgrade. This is only for you to ensure you can still do your farm tasks even when you can’t physically farm anymore.]"

"Well...thanks for the concern...but at least you should have upgraded the rewards of the dailies and I would be more content than ever..."

Elaina sighed. But despite her disappointment, the new upgrade should be helpful for her. Now, she won’t be too worried about the farm...and her daily FP supply.
