A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods -
Chapter 150: Restrictions that Comes from Pregnancy
Chapter 150: Restrictions that Comes from Pregnancy
Time has passed and it’s already a month since the divorce happened. Nothing interesting happened these past few days except for Elaina planting the Garden Guardian plants that are slowly growing properly. Aside from that, nothing much worth noting, and Elaina focused her attention on the farm and recovering it to its former form.
Summer has also entered its final laps and in just another month, summer will end and autumn will soon grace the world. Although the summer heat has slowly simmered down compared to the very beginning, another problem arises for Elaina.
Since Elaina is pregnant with twins, her belly is growing much bigger compared to the normal sizes that pregnant women with only one baby in their womb currently have. Due to this, even though it shouldn’t be a big problem for Elaina to still do some work, she is now having trouble doing so, and right now, Elaina is currently talking about her situation with Dr. Fey.
"I see now. Although twin pregnancies are not common, I have seen my fair share of them and I am quite familiar with them. Seeing your situation, I must say that I recommend you halt your farming activities, Miss Elaina. Although your pregnancy is not sensitive and needs this kind of intervention, it’s better to be safe. Not only that but it would also reduce the stress in your body. Just relax and perhaps hire some workers that would tend the farm for the time being."
"I can’t do any farm work starting today?" Elaina is alarmed.
"You can still do some work, but I recommend that if you absolutely would do so, just do the light ones and avoid tilling the ground, planting, and harvesting your crops. Watering the crops with a manageable amount of water would be your best option here."
Instead of being happy that she could finally relax, Elaina felt sad for the reason that she could not do any farm work soon enough. Perhaps all she can do is fish...
"Ah, I forgot to mention that fishing is also not allowed, Miss Elaina. Although it isn’t a very big trouble to have, I suggest not doing it as you will still use strength when angling and catching fish. Halt your activities regarding fishing until the time you have given birth."
"Wah? Seriously? Even fishing?" Elaina was surprised.
"Yes. Although it isn’t that heavy work compared to farming, you will still use strength there especially if the fish is big. So even if it is like that, I have to restrict you from doing some fishing as well."
Elaina didn’t expect to receive many restrictions. She understands that all of these restrictions are for her own good but it is just stricter than she thought it would be. She is advised to just stay put and never do any sort of heavy work.
"Then...can I still do some cooking?" Elaina asked.
"Cooking is not a problem but it also depends on your sensitivity. Since you are pregnant, you might be a bit more sensitive to several spices. It’s not harmful, but you might find it repulsive to the point that you would actively avoid it and refuse to eat a dish with those spices. But it’s not going to hinder much of your work. You can keep on cooking."
Hearing that, Elaina sighed in relief. If she can still cook, then it won’t be a big problem. And so far, she didn’t have much sensitivity to the spices from what she had seen so far.
"Since you won’t be doing heavy lifting on work, I suggest you instead replace your work on the farm with a habit of walking around early in the morning instead. Whether you check up on your plants on the farm or anything as long as you are doing it, then you will be fine. Having light exercise will help you give birth safely and also avoid some diseases from forming while you are pregnant."
"I will keep that in mind, doc," Elaina nodded.
Thanking Dr. Fey for the consultation and payment, Elaina returned to the farm with Julia who was waiting for Elaina outside the consultation room.
"So what did Dr. Fey say about your current situation, Sis?"
"Nothing bad. Most of what I am experiencing is normal but she started to restrict me from working on the farm or even fishing. I can still fish, but I can’t do anything else especially when working on heavy jobs."
"Ah, so it finally came to this. Guess I will have to chip into the job as well, Sis. Don’t worry too much on the farm Sis! Now that it is functioning properly and with the Feys helping, you can just sit back and relax," Julia grinned at Elaina as they arrived at the gate of the farm.
"It’s not that simple, Julia. But eh, we can see what we can do later. Anyways, thanks for accompanying me, alright?"
"No problem Sis. Just tell me if there is anything I have to do."
The two returned to their respective rooms after the consultation. Elaina sighed and decided to discuss the situation with the gods.
"Hey, I can tell that you guys already know my situation, right?" Elaina called to the gods.
"[Yep. Looks like it is time for the assisted upgrade of your Almanac then. I had it disabled for the time being since you can still do your work normally but now that your doctor is the one recommending you to stop doing any farm work, it’s time to activate that.]" The God of Farming answered nonchalantly like he already anticipated it.
"Wait, you already planned it?" Elaina was surprised.
"[Of course. I know pregnant women can’t do any heavy work like farm work during the later stages of their pregnancy. Which is why I decided to seal most of the effects of the almanac. Most of the benefits you receive from the almanac right now are not complete and you have yet to experience the full package due to your pregnancy. Now that you are going to undergo into the next stage of your pregnancy, I will activate the assist upgrade of the Almanac.]"
Every word that the God of Farming said to her felt foreign and she couldn’t understand most of what she just said.
"...Perhaps you should give me a preview of what you just said? I don’t understand."
"[...]" the God of Farming is speechless.
