Chapter 143: Cheating Men Must Die! Part 4

The audience of people waiting outside the castle is quite a scene to behold. They are all waiting for the trial to begin. It was like they were waiting for a spectacle to happen, and they were waiting for the best moment to appear before them.

Then, the carriage which carries the emblem of the Darcero Royalty arrived. The people started to clamor and tried their best to sneak an early peek of the rumored wife of Emperor Alfred.

Unfortunately, they already made sure no one aside from the people invited by the royalty could even get close or closely peek at the people inside the carriage. A barrier was erected to ensure that regular people couldn’t get near at all. Even a rock thrown won’t be able to breach the barrier.

"Wow, the people of the kingdom are so eager on the broadcast huh?" Julia was surprised by the crowd noisily clamoring and was still trying their best to get a good peek before the trial even started.

"Eh, this is something that they wanted to see since the Darcero Kingdom is pretty peaceful, most of the time, they crave some drama, and now that one is currently presented to them openly, they don’t want to waste the chance to witness everything unfold," Dr. Fey said as she followed Elaina closely behind.

"I can see why. Good gossip can feed the curiosity and mind of the populace and it is some sort of entertainment for them while still going in their mundane tasks every day," Princess Margaux nodded as she gave the guards standing guard on the doors to allow them entry.

Julia seems to notice Elaina shaking a bit.

"Nervous, Sis?" Julia asked.

"Haha, just a little bit, but I am more excited to face off against Alfred again and end this farce once and for all. I wanted to ensure that my children would no longer need to join the ranks of the royalty of Luminiera Kingdom in the future. They might have the royal blood running in their veins but they are not necessary to continue living. And they are better off from the influence of the church as they hate twins to the core. They should be happy about this news if it gets approved."

"Hope you win, Sis. Your case here is strong."

"I know, but I don’t think this is an easy win. Alfred might have pulled some strings here and there and he might be even gonna use some emotional drama as well to appeal. So I am not expecting any sort of easy way out of this one."

"Don’t worry, Sis. You have our support so don’t worry and win this fight, Sis!"

While Julia is encouraging Elaina, the gods are also busy cheering on Elaina as well.

"[Dear Elaina, I know you can win this. Just treat this case like a monster and calmly face the odds against yourself. This will allow you to find the weakness of your opponent and strike the opportunity yourself!]" The Goddess of Taming cheered Elaina with a piece of advice that is more likely useful in taming rather than on a trial.

"[Be calm and collected, Elaina. This is just like when fishing, be patient and be tranquil. Be calm and collected and...wait, did I repeat that already? Anyways, you get the point. This one will be easy to get the big catch.]" The God of fishing calmly gave a bit of advice although it seems that is not his real strong suit. His mind is full of fishing.

"[Ignore these buffons, Elaina. Although I am not so sure what this trial is, I am quite sure that you already got this. I already see in your eyes that you will be fine, so I am not worried. Make us proud, alright?]" The God of Farming calmly gave his input and although he didn’t give any sort of advice, he was clear that he fully supported Elaina on this one.

Elaina silently smiled and nodded as they slowly entered the throne room, repurposed to hold the trial.

The king and queen sat on their respective thrones with the First Princess and First Prince waiting for Princess Margaux as they sat on their respective seats just below the king and queen.

The layout of the place has been changed to accommodate the selected nobles to participate and view the trial personally. Their seats are placed on each side of the throne room, enough to let them see the trial without any sort of hindrance.

The witness stand is placed at the center of the room while on both sides are the tables where the defendant and the defense are currently sitting, namely Alfred and his lawyer, while the other table is where the prosecution and the main star of the show, Elaina will be sitting. Since this is a trial to prove Alfred’s guilt and to clear Elaina’s name, Princess Margaux asked their private lawyer to work together with the prosecution to ensure that Elaina would prove her innocence while also nailing the final nail for Alfred.

The Judge who will be giving the final say in everything is none other than the king himself.

Everyone took their respective seats and everyone was given a 5-minute preparation to ensure that everything was in order.

"Alright, Miss Elaina right? You are the former Empress of the Luminiera Kingdom and the wife of Alfred Luminiera. Things are already set to stone and he is deemed guilty already but he will not just take it easily which is why it is our job to pin Alfred and ensure you will win this. We will also add in the divorce plea you wanted to happen as well so be sure you are at your best today and contradict every lie that he is going to throw your way, or else, you might get deported back to Luminiera Kingdom as well."

Elaina calmly nodded. "Yes, I understand."

"Good. If you think you will be at a big disadvantage, just stay silent and I will do the rest."

The bailiff appeared and they are now escorted to their respective seats. Despite her nervousness, Elaina kept herself calm and collected at all cost. She will win this.

As soon as everyone is ready, the sound of the gavel slams, echoing all over the hall.

CLACK!

"The Trial of Alfred Luminiera is now in session."
