Chapter 319: Chapter 312: NEVER MEANT TO BE!
What would be the chances of winning her back? That was the question he asked himself before he was pulled back to reality.
The answer to that question was thrown right to his face as he looked at the indifferent person whom he couldn’t even recognize and suddenly felt cold and regret.
None!
The sorceress’s eyes were full of mischief as she looked at the two who had finished watching each other’s lives and, in Orson’s case, her feelings towards him.
Everything else that didn’t concern him. She made sure to blur it out. But that wasn’t the case for Calista.
To make sure that gets her to work with her voluntarily since she needed her badly, the sorceress put in more effort and it seemed that it had worked, especially seeing how cold and indifferent Calista was when facing Orson.
Before this, her eyes were still filled with conflict and confusion, making it hard to decide, but this time, she believed that the answer she wanted to hear would be gracing her ears pretty soon.
And surely, she didn’t have to wait for long since Calista started her first.
"I know that you don’t do anything for free. There is a reason why you are like this and whatever it is, as long as it doesn’t go against my conscience, I will do it," Calista said seriously as she looked at the sorceress and upon seeing that the other was nodding in agreement and wasn’t bothering to hide it anymore, she continued, "in return, I want you to make me forget about him and anything related to him. Make those close to him forget that he ever existed. I want him to be erased from our memories. I would rather have an unclear memory about who fathered my children than remember him as one.
As for him, make him remember everything. His betrayal, his suspicion and how he would live for the rest of his life knowing that he could have me, our kids and this family, but because of his actions, he lost it all.
I don’t want him crossing the sea to come here in the future. If he dares try something like that, make him feel the kind of pain those people feel when they are being torn apart by horses."
After saying that, she looked at Orson, gave him one last glance and said to him, "If I were you, I would spend the rest of my life doing some good. Don’t let your girls suffer for the heavy sins that you committed because of your ambition!" before walking away without waiting for him to respond.
The sorceress nodded with a smile and let Calista leave while blocking the way for Orson, who was still digesting the rejection.
By the time he finally realized that he had been rejected and how badly she wanted to erase him from her life, he looked coldly at the sorceress and asked her, his body calm though his heart was thumping loudly in fear, "What did you let her see?"
The sorceress snickered as she walked toward him and responded, "Something that you don’t want her to see. Anyway, you have the rest of your life to think about it!" her tone mocking.
Orson clenched his teeth, a dangerous glint flickering in his eyes as he continued to look at her. His hands were balled into fists as all kinds of thoughts swirled in his mind.
"Why are you doing this? What do you gain by doing all this?" Shadow’s voice, which hadn’t been heard in a very long time, rang in both of their ears and all eyes were on him.
The sorceress’s eyes lit up as she looked at Shadow. She couldn’t help but like him for asking such a crucial question.
"Indeed, why am I doing this?" she repeated the question with a playful smile on her face, recalling a certain person’s shrewd in her mind.
Thinking about how fun it would be for Orson in the future, she didn’t want to give spoilers. Besides, he hurt her child so badly that she didn’t want to see him succeed.
"Unfortunately, that’s your lifetime’s homework. You indeed spent most of your life .... Tsk, tsk," she couldn’t help but shake her head, recalling the deadly sins and their weight.
If only he had been honest and stayed by Calista’s side, maybe he wouldn’t need to worry about karma at all.
Anyway, her job was done here, and she didn’t need to worry about things going south again.
As for showing Calista the other truth that she would need to know desperately, why bother when it could mess things up?
Some truths were better hidden than laid out in the open. Who knows what kind of craziness Calista would cause once the truth was out?
Some things were never meant to be. Just like how this relationship was doomed to fail from the start.
It started way wrong and see how it ended.
Thankfully, no blood was shed at the end and the fiery maiden wasn’t that too pissed with the situation otherwise, she might have really lost a good soul. Her mistress would surely lock her in that dark prison for eternity if she dared mess things up.
Thinking about how she was saved, the sorceress was in a good mood and found the two men both unpleasant to look at.
Without further ado, she waved her hand and the two of them were swooshed away without being given a chance to say another word.
After doing so, she summoned the wormhole and hurriedly stepped into it before making her way to another place as well.
There was so much that needed to be done before she could go and see Calista. Without fulfilling her end of the bargain, how could she go and meet Calista?
As a result, Orson and his men found themselves thrown closer to the island. And only he and Shadow still remembered what was happening.
Everyone else was in confusion, but since they were alive and well, they didn’t think much and simply waited for Orson to resume his commands.
Orson looked into the sky with a complicated and painful gaze.
Was that really the end?
A tear streamed down his cheek and dried before it could go anywhere.
’I am a man and I will not let this drag me down. I have other people to care about. Why bother let a woman affect me that much?!’ he comforted and cheered himself inwardly.
That would have worked if his eyes weren’t red and his heart aching so badly, it was as if he was being torn apart. But like they say, a man never cries and he wasn’t going to start now.
With that in mind, he walked toward the carriage with his daughters. And once they were in his embrace, he commanded his men to start moving.
As the carriages made their way to the pier where the ship should be docked, he chanted repeatedly, as if wanting to hypnotize himself.
’It will be fine. It has always been me and the girls. Everything will be fine!’
But would it be fine, really?
