Chapter 318 - 311: CALISTA’S HEART

Chapter 318: Chapter 311: CALISTA’S HEART

When Orson came to be, he found himself seeing Calista having a confrontation with Benita, her deceased husband’s daughter, who pointed at her and called her names.

It was the day that she was so provoked and made a decision to stop getting her name sullied.

It was the day she decided to marry and so happened to the same day that he ended up in her place, thus becoming the perfect husband’s choice.

Watching all that, he didn’t know what to expect. He had always suspected her motives from the beginning, but when he saw how her eyes lit up when she saw him. He knew that very moment that he was doomed.

It could be seen that she fell for him at first sight and, afraid that he might be taken by others, cruelly slashed his face. But she gave him the best treatment ever.

Watching all that happening and recalling his feelings about the events, Orson wanted to stop watching, but he couldn’t do anything. He was rooted on the spot.

He watched how she became dedicated and did her best to serve him. How she coerced him into marriage and yet blushed furiously when he wasn’t watching.

She talked to herself about how she didn’t mind if he was keeping things from her. As long as he remained by her side, she could ignore everything.

There was a time when he followed her sneakily when she was accused by some ruffian. When he saw how she handled the matter beautifully, he was at ease and returned home, where he saw his guards.

When he saw that part, he broke into a sweat cold as he realized that she was already aware of what he was doing. He saw Blackey’s monstrous figure as it slithered from a distance, keeping an eye on him and it dawned on him suddenly why he always felt like he was being watched.

Blackey loved living in the wild, so unless Calista said that she owned a snake, no one would know about it.

The matter was reported to her, but she didn’t ask him. She even started giving him freedom and it was all tests. He regretted it as he watched all that. She tested him so many times and gave him a lot of chances.

Her heart gave it all, despite knowing that he didn’t mean well.

When the part about going to buy medicine arrived, he didn’t want to watch it at all but that invisible force forced him to watch everything.

He saw how she was in a dilemma and wanted to object to his decision. She knew that if he went, she might never see him again and yet she tried to put trust in him.

’As long as he comes back to me, I will let everything go.’ But what did he do?

He left as soon as he got a chance and he saw how worried she was every day. It was as if she knew that he wouldn’t come back.

His heart panged with pain and heartache as he watched how she slimmed with each passing day because of stress.

When the villagers asked her where he was, she would lie about visiting relatives. She continued to hold onto false hope until she visited Liresa City where she learnt that she was pregnant.

Seeing all that, he knew that he didn’t have any right to feel anything for Calista. He destroyed her life and didn’t even think hard about how he affected her. Even when he apologized to her back then, he couldn’t help but mock himself. He felt like a joke.

He saw how she and Hayes met. Upon seeing how there wasn’t even a sign of romance and how he called her names and suspected that she was fooling around, Orson didn’t have anywhere to hide.

He saw how Hayes was the perfect brother and helped her brighten up. She slowly forgot about him only for him to appear on that day and let Vaani cause problems.

What was he thinking?

He let Vaani call her names and called her children wild bastards. No wonder why she was scratched by Whitey. It was a miracle that the beasts didn’t deal with him.

When she agreed to treat the kids, he felt ashamed seeing how dubious and suspecting he was. The other person wouldn’t harm children. Seeing her being hurt like that, Orson just wanted to return to the island and follow what she said, never come back.

He saw first-hand how indifferent he was to Calista and the twins when they were born, the difference in treatment between the four children was just too much. No wonder why she gave him an ultimatum. But instead of understanding what she meant or trying to insinuate, the mind that was fearing how powerful she was, didn’t see it. Rather he let himself be provoked by Vaani and ended up turning cold towards Calista.

When Shadow arrived, he saw how panicked and shocked she was. She couldn’t believe it. He didn’t know how to think, or what to say as she looked so conflicted.

He could tell that she loved him so much and yet because of his actions, she continued getting confused. And with the revelation that Shadow was involved in her death, it was too much.

She didn’t harbor much hatred for him upon knowing about that, rather she wanted to confirm the matter first. The person she wanted to deal with was Shadow and not him. But his actions upon learning their possible connections disappointed her.

Thus, she changed her mind and decided to deal with both of them. Never once had she thought about touching his children. It was him overthinking from day one.

It seemed that he never trusted her even a little bit.

When they got tied up, he saw when she darkened. When he showed much interest and concern about Shadow without considering her, she lost it. And that nearly cost them their lives.

He watched how conflicted she was about killing them and how she fought and conquered and finally gave up on killing them.

Even on her way, she was still conflicted about her feelings for him and never once did she think about coming after him or his family.

’As long as trouble doesn’t find me, I won’t find it!’ that has always been her motto.

If he doesn’t come after her, no blood will be lost but if he does, then she wouldn’t show any mercy.

After seeing all that. How she loved him so much even until moments ago, he wanted to go down on his knees and plead for forgiveness.

The vision had enlightened him and he now knew what he wanted.

So, what if she was stronger than him? It wasn’t like she had ever oppressed him using the power before.

The beasts, as long as no one provokes Calista, would act dead. They have been like that for years. He could live with that.

He wanted to give her a better life, a family that she had always longed for. His daughters loved Calista so much, so it wouldn’t be too bad for them to be together.

But if what she had seen was similar to what he had just seen, what would be his chances of winning her back?
