Chapter 320: Chapter 313: HER DAUNTING
She was in a sour mood when she came back from dealing with Calista. After meeting the sorceress and knowing her identity, her mood was complicated. Moreover, she was thinking deeply about what the other truly wanted from her.
Over a decade ago, for the sake of getting a new life, she lived so many lives and spent so many years traveling from one world to another. Thankfully, she was dedicated, so she managed to finish her missions and return home.
Now, however, she didn’t know what the sorceress wanted from her and what kind of madness she would be forced to do. Anyway, since she agreed to the deal, she didn’t have any choice but to go through it.
She just hoped that it wouldn’t be something that goes against her morals.
After collecting herself and stopping herself from doing something that she would regret, she didn’t want to shed another man’s blood ever again.
Talking about blood, she couldn’t help but recall the Thomas family.
She had left the old lady paralyzed and judging by how potent that venom was; she was afraid that the old lady’s death would be on her.
Thinking about her, instead of returning to the inn, she diverted her route and stopped by the old manor.
It’s been three days at most since the rumors started spreading and the Thomas family reputation was in the gutters already.
When she returned earlier before taking it up with Orson and his men, she had heard from Nayeli about a few things that she would like to share with the old lady before she went back home.
It was time for her to go and reunite with her babies. It’s been too long.
When she got to the manor, the place was heavily guarded, and the atmosphere was tense. One could tell that something was brewing, and it wasn’t anything good. And that was the exact thing that Calista wanted.
Scourges needed to be dealt with seriously and thinking about how tough this family had had it in the past few days, she couldn’t help but feel very happy.
She masked herself and made her way to the old lady’s courtyard.
She passed by maids moving up and down in silence doing their work in fear, but didn’t have any choice or right to separate themselves from the mess.
What could they do?
They were the slaves and the ones who bore the brunt first when things happened.
"Mother, don’t worry. We will do everything to make sure that you get well."
"We have been communicating with the officials. There is no substantial evidence tying us to the crimes that had been circulating. So, I don’t think that we will be punished for anything."
"The Tulip Tower people have stated a price and we are in the middle of gathering the money. We will get rid of this mess very soon. So don’t stress yourself and just recuperate well for us, okay?"
Calista eavesdropped on the old lady’s children who were updating the paralyzed lady about what was happening.
It was truly surprising and amazing that these kids, who were so used to having their mother do something for them, were finally doing something. But could their money surpass the one she paid Nayeli? She didn’t think so.
"We will find the person who did this to us and erase him and his family until all generations are done. No one and nothing can mess with us!" Bertha’s sinister voice sounded and Calista clicked her tongue in amazement, thinking to herself how domineering she sounded when she said that.
It would have been perfect if the opponent were someone else.
Unfortunately, she didn’t have time to continue eavesdropping. The sooner she shares the good news with the old lady, the sooner she also goes back home to her children.
Without further ado, she instructed Blackey to freeze time once again. He had enough juice to last her for a while, so she had to be fast about it.

Inside the room, the old lady was awake but couldn’t react and it frustrated her so much.
She knew the culprit who caused all this mess and yet she couldn’t even expose her. When she thought about that hateful person, the old lady wished she could have sent assassins to her instead of spies. She regretted it so much, but there was no medicine for regret.
Thankfully, her children had grown up because of this incident. Seeing them running around and doing their best to deal with the matter, as a mother, she felt very proud.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t tell them what she was thinking, since she couldn’t move or even speak.
"We are _" Suddenly her daughter, who was speaking righteously, froze in the middle of speaking and Lady Thomas felt like she wasn’t seeing right.
She blinked her eyes several times but her daughter still remained frozen, with her hand animatedly raised in the air while she looked at her with those red eyes that still had signs of severe crying.
She looked very haggard and Lady Thomas could tell that it hadn’t been easy for her daughter these past few days. The dark circles under her eyes, which she had tried to mask, were clearly visible.
Next to her daughter, her two other sons stood frozen in place, their faces filled with worried expression and their brows furrowed. With a glance, she could tell how sullen and shaken they were. They seemed to be in thoughts and those thoughts were definitely related to the family.
After observing her children in such seriousness, an explosion boomed in her head as realization dawned on her.
Wasn’t this very familiar?
Her eyes flickered with fear as she looked towards the door. The last time something like that happened, she ended up paralyzed and her family’s secrets started circulating.
"Mmm ..... mmmm ....mmmm!" she started yelling as she stared towards the door with furious eyes, calling that shameless woman out, but she couldn’t see a fly.
Where was she?
Lady Thomas wondered but still continued to call out. Since she was here, she might as well show herself and perhaps discuss what the other person truly wanted.
While she was struggling, Calista looked at the old lady with disdain.
Never in a million years would she have thought that one day she would see this proud person in such a situation. She looked pitiful but well deserved.
She looked at her for a while before recalling how much energy Blackey was expending. Upon recalling that, she didn’t remain in hiding anymore but showed herself.
As soon as she did, the old lady’s eyes nearly popped out, and the sight was truly unbelievable. Calista was dumbfounded.
The old lady glared at her hatefully. If she could talk, Calista was certain that she would be cursing her family’s generation and accusing her of some very bad things. She didn’t want to hear it.
She didn’t even have time to entertain the old lady for that long. She just wanted to disappear and hold her babies before midnight.
