Chapter 252: Chapter 252: HE DOESN’T DESERVE HER!
She knew that this was something that she couldn’t get involved with, but her heart ached. Unfortunately, when it comes to matters of the heart, only the people involved know best.
"He should run around like a dog and earn her trust."
"But what if he does so and then leave her again?"
"He dares?" Madam Fischer bellowed angrily, startling the person who had just asked.
Hayes shrugged as if he wasn’t concerned with his mother’s outburst and said, "Men are unpredictable. You should know. Anyway, I guess that we will see where it goes."
He was a man and understood men at least better than women. He had befriended Orson, and they could be considered close, but not to the extent of sharing everything.
He could see that Orson had feelings for Calista, and they were genuine. But what about his responsibilities and duties?
Won’t he ditch her again for those responsibilities again?
One day, sooner or later, he would pack his bags and leave. As for when he would return, who would know?
When that happens, won’t his sister suffer another round of heartache?
Calista deserves someone better and none of them were suitable.
Deep down in his heart, he understood the kind of feelings he had for her. However, when she thinks about many things, he knows what is best.
He would rather have this kind of carefree relationship with her. Where he could express himself without fearing what others might think or when to be plotted against.
Calista, without him knowing, had become his safe space. And a person he knew wouldn’t be easy for him to live without. He couldn’t let such a person suffer grievances.
If Orson was sincere like he was seeing, then this grooving should have continued to be done.
Only when he treats her like a queen and puts himself on the slave level would his heart be at ease.
Orson didn’t deserve her at all.
His words from back then still stand.

While the people in the living spoke their minds and hearts out, the tension in Calista’s bedroom could be said to be very suffocating.
Both of them had good hearing. They were sensitive people and as long as they wanted to hear anything, their heightened hearing could do the magic.
So, from the moment that they left the living room, it could be said that they heard everything.
Calista looked at Orson with a smug smile on her face as she cradled Halona, who had woken up first.
Seeing that dark expression on his face, Calista was over the moon. These people were like her own group of avengers. Gathered together to avenge all the unfairness and pain she went through in the months that he was gone.
The first months were the worst, especially after learning that she was carrying a child. Being pregnant in a society like hers and with the man gone, causes tongues to wag.
Although these people feared her for many reasons and didn’t say their thoughts outright in her face. That didn’t change the fact that behind her back, they did it.
If she wasn’t strongminded and like those weak-willed village girls, by now her body would have rotten and the maggots having a feast underground.
Just because she acted strong didn’t mean that everything was okay.
She was glad that these people were being angry on her behalf. Seeing her like that ignited the suppressed emotions she never got to vent out before.
"Why are you angry?" she suddenly asked icily as she looked at him.
It wasn’t like what these people were saying was wrong. He did everything that they were saying. So why did he look as if he wanted to strangle them and skin them alive?
Orson clenched his jaws as he turned to look at Calista’s frosty face.
Seeing her made him remember what those people were saying much clearer in his mind.
Why were they bringing the past?
What was Hayes aiming to say about that and digging up the past?
Was he interested in Callista even after swearing that she was just his sister?
And all this. Was Calista doing it so that she could get back at him?
Calista seeing the written thoughts on his face, her eyes narrowed dangerously as she looked at him scoffing inwardly before asking, "Why? Do you find it unfair that they are talking about it? Does your heart hurt?" her tone was very icy that it sent chills down his spine.
Orson was startled at this unexpected, cold confrontation. He wasn’t expecting her to change suddenly. It caught him unaware.
"Cali, you ..... did you arrange this?" he couldn’t help but ask that.
There should be a reason why this was happening, right?
At this moment, he couldn’t help but doubt her.
Why did it happen when he was still in the house?
Couldn’t they talk about it when he wasn’t there?
When Calista heard that, she suddenly snarled as she let out a mocking chuckle while looking at Orson with disdain in her eyes.
"Orson! Do I look that free to you?"
"I_"
"Do I look like I am someone who would use others to take revenge? When I, Calista, have issues with someone, I will take matters into my own hands and deal with the problem. Why dispatch others when I alone am an entire army?" she coldly asked as she continued to nurse Halona.
When Orson heard that, his eyes lit up as enlightenment dawned on him.
She was exactly someone like that. Instead of relying on others, she would do the dirty work by herself. So where were his words coming from?
Suddenly, he started feeling guilty for accusing her of something so silly.
Wasn’t this digging his own grave and worsening the situation that was starting to get better?
"Cali, I _" Orson, knowing that he had wronged her, wanted to say something. Unfortunately, he was cut before he could go any further.
"Stop right there!" she coldly said in a heavy tone as she raised the hand which wasn’t cradling the baby, shutting him before continuing, "Now that we have reached this point. I think that this is the perfect moment to straighten a few things."
The last time that they talked to each other and forgave each other. Though her heart still ached and her mind remembered pretty well. Now that she looked back to that day, she didn’t really forgive him as she thought. Otherwise, if she did, she wouldn’t be feeling the way she was right now.
"Cali, you_"
