Chapter 117: HOME SWEET HOME!
Chapter 117: Chapter 117: HOME SWEET HOME!
On the way to Cropville village, Calista was excited and her joy could be seen on her face.
It’s been weeks since she left, and returning to the place she had called home for more than a decade, felt pretty good.
This time, she managed to haul it big and she couldn’t wait to flaunt that to the villagers.
Weren’t there still some of them who weren’t taking her seriously despite everything that she had been doing for the villagers?
She understood that it was impossible to satisfy everyone, but she couldn’t help but want to try. Only when everyone is impressed with her, can she spread her feathers like a peacock showing off and have no one saying nonsense about her just because they feel like doing so.
Filled with unreasonable thoughts, time trickled by and as the carriages continued with their journey, she heard Mammy Lena saying, "Oh! There seem to be several carriages going to town. Where could they be coming from?"
When that reached her ears, Calista cast away her thoughts and hurriedly opened the carriage window to take a look.
Surely, there were several carriages, around three, coming from the direction of where she was going. But where could they be coming from at such a time?
Could it be some families were busy traveling?
As she was thinking like that, suddenly the aroma of food filled her nose and her lips twitched.
She should have guessed.
Suddenly, a smile blossomed on her face as she closed the carriage.
It seems that the restaurant was doing pretty well. After all, why would she be smelling the familiar aroma of food cooked in her restaurant?
If someone else were to hear her thoughts, they would think of her as being overdramatic or delusional. After all, it wasn’t like Calista was the only person who owned restaurants.
What if it was just food they brought from their homes?
This might make sense, but for Calista who uses her spices, mixed with her ratios to provide that unique taste people can’t get tired of. How can she not know?
To think that in her absence, the number of carriages increased just like that. Calista suddenly started feeling like an accomplished person.
And thinking like that, did Susan still have enough ingredients, or they were finished?
Although she had set aside surplus ingredients, she wasn’t sure anymore if that was enough. What if each carriage was carrying more than twenty meal boxes? And the fiasco had been happening for more than a week? Would she still remain with ingredients at this rate?
She started feeling worried for no reason.
Ignore the money issue and set it aside. If she had stayed longer, wouldn’t she have lost customers?
Suddenly, Calista was eager to return home and see Susan. This lady friend of hers truly deserved to be rewarded. She couldn’t wait.
How much money was she going to find?
Would there be a need for her to increase the menu, add some new dishes or something like that?
What else or more should she do to make the business bigger?
There was so much that could be done if the business was indeed faring well and she wanted to make it bigger.
As long as her actions can help the villagers, she is willing to do her best even if it brings the villagers some copper coins each day.
Wasn’t it better to have some soup as well?
After two more hours on the road, the restaurant finally started coming into view. Through the window, Calista observed the restaurant from a distance to see if there were any customers or carriages. Unfortunately, there was no such thing.

As the carriages approached the restaurant, Susan felt like plucking her hair. How was she going to serve those people?
She felt like crying, but no tears were coming out.
Feeling anxious for no reason, she rushed into the restaurant’s kitchen and looked dazedly at the empty pots which had been cleaned thoroughly and then the empty barrels, and suddenly started missing Calista.
Naomi walked into the kitchen, only to find Susan in a daze like this, and asked cautiously as she approached slowly, "Ma Grace, is something wrong?" her tone with a hint of worry.
Susan, upon hearing Naomi’s question, sighed heavily as she turned around, a helpless expression on her face.
She took another deep breath again, raising her hands to her face, and started to massage her aching temples as she responded, "Have you seen the entourage of carriages coming our way?" asked Susan to the puzzled Naomi.
When Naomi heard the question, her eyes lit up as she seemed to understand what Susan was talking about.
"Yes, Ma Grace, I have seen them. What about them?" she asked curiously, her eyes sparkling with visible curiosity. It made Susan want to bash that head and get it to analyze properly.
Naomi was good at many things, but she was a bit slow and it was worrisome at times. Couldn’t she understand what she was insinuating about that statement?
Unfortunately, Naomi didn’t seem to understand at all.
Susan, feeling frustrated, harumphed at Naomi before marching out without saying a word to her.
Naomi, on the other hand, scratched the back of her head puzzlingly, as she mumbled to herself, "Is she feeling too hungry that she is acting up like this?"
Since they didn’t manage to eat to their full, it was understandable that the other wasn’t feeling well. Even her head was making funny sounds and so was her stomach.
Grumble. Grumble.
Just listen to the way it was rumbling and grumbling as if there was a thunderstorm.
"Let me check on her. I can’t have her running around crazily!" Naomi pushed away her hunger as a light was switched on in her head.
Feeling that what she was thinking was correct, she hurriedly went outside to stop Ma Grace, only to come across a familiar person alighting from one of the carriages saying, "Home sweet home!"
Suddenly, a strange smile appeared on her face.
’The boss is back!’
