Chapter 112: Chapter 112 Who is in the Way

Mu Yan remained silent as the elevator doors opened, and she was the first to step out.

Behind her, Lin Jiamu’s voice called out, "Mu Yan, I know you can’t forget the past, but like this, would your mom be happy in the afterlife?"

Mu Yan stopped, turned back to him, and asked, "Can the dead really see the world of the living?"

Lin Jiamu didn’t answer because no one knows the answer to that.

Mu Yan shook her head at him, "When I was young, I thought dreams were the most important, willing to give everything for them. But when I grew older, I realized that my dreams often come true because of others, and I understood it too late."

"Mu Yan, you..."

Mu Yan smiled, "I’m fine, I just wanted to say, I know what I’m doing, thank you."

She nodded slightly to him and turned to stride away.

Lin Jiamu was about to follow her when his phone suddenly rang.

He took it out to see it was Qin Xi calling.

"Mu Yan isn’t nearby, is she?" she asked.

"No, she’s not."

"Let me tell you, take her to a romantic place for dinner tonight. She doesn’t get it, but you can’t not get it either; a man has to be proactive..."

Lin Jiamu’s face darkened, "Are you out of your mind?" He hung up the phone.

He looked ahead, his expression growing heavier.

In the car, Qin Xi looked at the disconnected call, fuming, and complained to the person next to her, "Look at Lin Jiamu, I’m giving advice in good faith, and that’s his attitude."

"Baby, don’t be angry, it won’t be pretty if you’re angry." The man’s voice was full of affection.

Qin Xi instantly broke into a sweet smile, hugging his arm, "Brother Lu, you’re the best."

Mu Yan hailed a cab by the roadside and headed straight back to Jinxiu Court Villa.

She entered the gate and found the living room empty, feeling puzzled—out?

She carried her bag and headed upstairs, but halfway up, she felt a gaze on her.

Mu Yan shivered and looked up to see someone standing at the second-floor stair entrance.

She breathed a sigh of relief, slightly speechless, "Why do you always appear out of nowhere—it’s creepy."

"I’m hungry, came down to find something to eat," Jiang Jingheng said blandly.

Mu Yan recalled she hadn’t ordered delivery for him this afternoon and asked, "You haven’t been hungry this whole time, have you?"

"What do you think?" Jiang Jingheng glanced at her.

Mu Yan looked at him, puzzled, "Then why didn’t you call me?"

"I didn’t want to disturb you while you were with your friend," Jiang Jingheng replied casually, walking down the stairs past her.

Mu Yan found it amusing, "What’s the big deal about that?"

"Oh, so I can call you anytime in the future?" Jiang Jingheng turned to look at her.

Mu Yan nodded instinctively, "Of course, no problem."

Jiang Jingheng’s eyes twinkled with amusement, "I’ll remember that."

He turned back, descended the stairs, and walked to the living room.

Mu Yan didn’t think much about the deeper meaning of his words, chased after him, and saw him heading to the kitchen, "Why don’t I order delivery now?"

"No need, I made soup, come have some." Jiang Jingheng entered the kitchen.

Mu Yan was taken aback, the pot for cooking was broken, but the soup pot was still in good condition—makes sense.

So, was she worried all afternoon for nothing?

She entered the kitchen and saw Jiang Jingheng serving soup; she immediately said, "Let me do it."

"Get out of the way, don’t be a nuisance," Jiang Jingheng frowned.

Mu Yan, "..."
