Chapter 113: Chapter 113 Panic

Mu Yan left the kitchen and sat down in the dining room. Soon, Jiang Jingheng came out with two bowls of soup.

He placed one bowl in front of her and pulled a chair to sit beside her.

"Thank you," Mu Yan thanked him and took a sip with the soup spoon.

The soup was fresh and not greasy, with a strong bone aroma, and it seemed to have some herbal medicine in it.

She looked at Jiang Jingheng and asked, "This soup is delicious, how did you make it?"

Jiang Jingheng looked at her, "Want to learn?"

Mu Yan nodded, thinking she could make it for Mu Chen later.

"Tuition fee," Jiang Jingheng extended his hand towards her.

Mu Yan was taken aback and instinctively asked, "How much?"

Jiang Jingheng chuckled, "Do I look like someone who needs money?"

Mu Yan almost cried at her stupidity, no one in Upper City was richer than him, right?

"Then what do you want?"

"You."

Mu Yan met his light brown eyes, her heart skipped a beat, instinctively thinking she heard wrong, asked, "What did you say?"

Jiang Jingheng retracted his gaze and said calmly, "Finish that pot of soup, and I’ll teach you."

Mu Yan recalled the pot’s capacity and chuckled, "That’s a bit tough."

Jiang Jingheng raised an eyebrow, "There’s an easier one."

"What?"

"Kiss me."

Mu Yan glared at him, "Can you be serious?"

"It’s not like we haven’t kissed before." Jiang Jingheng’s mouth slightly curved, his peach blossom eyes tilted upwards, flirtatious yet sexy.

Mu Yan’s face changed slightly, she gritted her teeth and said, "Shut up."

"Two choices, your pick." Jiang Jingheng laughed lightly.

Mu Yan was exasperated and directly said, "Then I won’t learn."

"That’s really a pity," Jiang Jingheng mocked.

Mu Yan ignored him, finished her soup, washed the bowl, and went upstairs.

Jiang Jingheng looked back at her silhouette, curled the corners of his lips, thinking how could he let her do such a trivial thing as making soup.

Returning to her room, Mu Yan took a shower and spent nearly an hour talking on the phone with Mu Chen, feeling a bit sleepy afterward.

She turned off the lights and lay down, falling asleep soon.

However, she had a dream.

Flames roared, smoke filled the air, people were fleeing, cries for help shook the sky.

A seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl, ignoring the crowd’s protests, rushed toward the flames but was stopped.

She struggled, "Let go of me, my mom is in there, I have to save her."

"Girl, the fire is too big, it’s too late, it’s dangerous if you go in too."

"I don’t care, I have to save her, I have to save her, please, please save my mom, save her."

The firelight reflected on her face, her once fair face now covered in tears, her eyes red, and her expression distorted and frightening.

Suddenly, she bit the hand of the person next to her, broke free, and rushed toward the sea of flames.

She screamed in despair, "Mom..."

On the bed, Mu Yan suddenly screamed, "Mom!"

She opened her eyes, sat up, and touched her forehead, which was drenched in sweat.

Her hand slipped down to her cheeks, finding them wet.

She leaned against the bedhead and didn’t turn on the light.

Her left hand touched her right wrist, feeling a vague pain.

Some wounds, even time finds hard to heal.

As soon as she closed her eyes, a fiery blaze filled her mind, making it impossible for Mu Yan to fall asleep again.

It was hard to wait until daylight. She got up to pack, preparing to go out.

Jiang Jingheng was returning from a run outside when he saw Mu Yan holding a suitcase in her hand, his handsome face darkened, "Where are you going?"

"I have to stay at the hospital with Mu Chen for a while," Mu Yan replied.

Jiang Jingheng frowned, "What about me?"

"Huh?" Mu Yan looked at him, puzzled.

Jiang Jingheng’s gaze fell on her face, asking, "Why do you look so bad, your eyes are swollen, didn’t you sleep well?"

Mu Yan instinctively touched her eyes, "It’s okay, maybe I drank too much water last night, it’s just water retention."

Jiang Jingheng frowned, "You’re lying."

"Huh?" Mu Yan looked at him, puzzled.

Jiang Jingheng didn’t explain and asked, "Do you have to go?"

Mu Yan nodded.

Sometimes, she was terrified that one day she would return, and Mu Chen, like Mom, would be gone.
