Volume 15 Chapter 45: Upheaval

"He didn't like today's meal today as well?" Keith glanced at Rhaegon. There was no need to ask this question; the near-full bowl in his hand was more than enough to answer his question.

The prime minister shook his head, "I'm sorry." A few days had passed since he requested Keith's expertise. However, there was no change in Alastair's condition. Each time a new meal was presented to him, he was lethargic and ate it before returning to his work. However, it was only a few bites.

From his expression, he could tell he didn't taste any of the flavors.

"There's no need to apologize. It's not your fault." This is my fault. He had been cooking for Alastair on overdrive. Nevertheless, it was lukewarm. All the recipes he made were nowhere near the level to satisfy his palate.

However, there was something he didn't anticipate. Alastair’s inability to taste flavor had gotten to this point?

Then, I need to go about this in a different way. Since his skills weren't the matter...

“What have you been doing?” Keith and Rhaegon jolted as they turned their heads over to see Scarlet standing by the door. The look on her face said it all.

"Umm, nothing."

"Don't try to play dumb." Scarlet's eyes only narrowed as she looked down at the bowl in Rhaegon's hand.

"Prime minister, shouldn't you be going?"

"Brother, come here." Selk quickly called out. Rhaegon didn't hesitate as he quickly ran over to his sister's side, not daring to look at what occurred behind him.

"..." You're really going to leave me out here to die?

"Now talk." Scarlet's eyes glowed a deep, angry red. It was frightening. As he slowly explained everything, every second, the princess's expression changed. It was quite amazing and shocking at the same time.

“Why are you helping him?” Scarlet’s eyes narrowed.

“Do you know how much he had caused me and us?” She remembered everything that happened. She knew that this man was cold and icy. It didn't make sense to help a person like that.

“...Scarlet.” Keith stroked her head softly, and that was when Scarlet leaned on his chest.

"I think that man's a little misjudged."

"Why do you think so?" Scarlet gazed into him. Keith's gaze was so warm yet tranquil, "I just know."

...

While this occurred,

"Is the plan in motion?"

"Yes,"

"Then we'll begin tonight."

...

Later in the night, a bunch of shadows slowly loomed over the castle. While they did, they slowly encased the garden house. Keith looked outside and he took out his halberd.

Slowly, a few surrounded the garden house. Keith glanced outside and took out his halberd. He was about to head out when he noticed someone else coming out.

"Ms. Selk, please head back. I'll deal with it."

"Sir Keith, this is my home. Whoever tries to trample on it shall be crushed." She also sensed people entering. There was no way she could sit still.

"Then you'll be my rear. Is that fine with you?"

"Of course." Keith nodded as he slowly crept up to the door. In one swoop, he sliced an assassin in half. There was no talk or anything; kill and take out the enemy. Selk also did the same as she cut one with her daggers.

While the two attacked, a fireball was launched at an assassin.

"Scarlet!" "Milady."

“Do you think I will step out of this battle?” Scarlet wasn’t going to allow this. This place was her mother’s memento; there was no way she was going to let it get destroyed.

"Let's clear them out before they have the chance." Keith and the two quickly made work of them. That was when he sighed, "Who's idiotic enough to come and attack here?" Before there was even a chance to answer.

"Boom!" There was a giant explosion. The three instantly looked across where Selk shouted, "That came from the castle!"
