Volume 15 Chapter 43: Please Help Him
A few days later,
"Selk, what are you doing right now?!" Scarlet came out; her expression was frightening. She stared at the maid holding onto some bedsheets.
Selk smiled as she gently placed the sheets onto the rack, "Mi'lady, I'm taking the sheets out to dry." It was normal for a maid to do this; however, it was not in her case.
Scarlet pouted, "You don't need to do any of this. Let me do it! You should be resting!"
“But, Mi’lady, I have to do something.” A little laugh escaped from Selk. She was overreacting a little too much; having recovered in these last few days, she was more than capable of doing simple chores.
"No, you can't be working." Scarlet frowned. Selk was going to say something, but that something latched onto her legs. Glancing down, she noticed the little fox.
“Selk, no.” Eri's grasp became tighter as she stuck close; she was trying her best to hold her down. However, the weight difference was too much.
“Understood, young miss.” She couldn’t win against her. Over the days of Selk lying in bed, Scarlet and Eri were the ones who watched over her. The little one was always there by her side. Now, it was her turn to watch over her.
“Play.” Eri held her hand as the three of them headed over to the flower garden to work. Keith and Valgros worked at the barracks. That was the best way for him to stay ready and prepared. It was quite hectic; Tharaziel was lying limp on the side. However, that was when someone suddenly appeared,
"Sir Rhaegon!" All the knights jolted upwards.
“Valgros, I wish to speak with Sir Keith alone.” Rhaegon grinned.
“Understood.” Valgros nodded as they headed out there.
“Sir Keith, I want to thank you for saving my sister.”
“Hmm? You two are related?”
“Yes,” Rhaegon smiled, “Selk is my sister. She’s also Scarlet’s aunt as well.” The two were distinct relatives of Fioreal.
“…I see.” Keith nodded, “Anyway, there’s no need for you to be so concerned about this. I did it because Scarlet asked me to.”
“I still have to thank you for saving my sister. Also.” Rhaegon looked around, “I heard everything from Elyndra. I've increased the security around the castle."
"That would be the best."
"Are you sure you don't want security in the rose garden?" That was the only area where there weren't more knights. He was worried about this.
“As long as Lady Lilith is here, no one will come close to here.” Lady Lilith was one of the strongest people here. Plus, they had Aria in the mansion. She was there to protect Keith and Eri. Her sensory skills were the sharpest.
“Understood. I do have a favor I need to request from you.” Rhaegon looked dark.
"Hmm?"
...
“Alright, let’s do this.” Keith was in the kitchen, and it was time for him to cook again. Scarlet and Eri were peeking from the side of the window. Scarlet asked, “So what are you going to be making today?” Since he had a bunch of ingredients, the combination was endless.
“Hmm, I’m thinking about it right now.” Keith rubbed his chin as he stared at the items that were here before. What can I make for someone with a lack of taste? He remembered what Rhaegon had requested of him.
“I heard you're a chef, Sir Keith.”
“Mmhmm. I am.” Keith nodded. Rhaegon then explained, “I beg of you! Please help out our king!”
“Huh?” Keith scratched his head, “I think I need more information than you begging?”
“Ahh, I should explain,” Rhaegon slowly began to talk, “The king has lost his sense of taste quite some time ago.”
“He lost it? Wait, how did he lose it?” Keith’s expression paled. The loss of taste. That was something he dreaded most. To not be able to taste anything. He would rather die than suffer through all of this. And behind him were a bunch of divine beings that shared the same sentiments!
“...It happened during that incident.”
“Hmm?”
“The death of Scarlet’s mother.”
“...”
“When she passed, the king became less of what he was. More so, he had lost any taste for food.”
“What has he been eating?”
“He’s only been eating seldom.” A chore rather than anything else.
“I heard from the princess that you’re an amazing cook. If possible, I was wondering if you could possibly make something that would make him recover from his taste.”
“Leave it to me!” Keith grinned.
