Volume 15 Chapter 42: Succession Of The Throne

“Princess, I’m so proud that you have become such a beautiful lady.” Selk smiled as she stroked Scarlet’s face. Even though she had grown older, she could now see that her facial features were similar to those of her childhood.

“Hello,” Selk nodded as she thanked Keith, “Thank you for saving my life. And thank you for taking care of Scarlet the entire time here.”

“It was my pleasure.” Keith bowed his head slightly.

“I’m glad that she has become so much better now.” Selk smiled, “But what had happened over these years I was gone?” Many things must have changed. She was gone for too long.

“Selk, don’t walk for now!” Scarlet quickly pushed her body back onto the bed. But that caused the demon to sigh, “Miss, I’m fine.”

“I don’t want to take any chances!” The woman had just woken up from getting poisoned. Selk let out a gasp, “Understood. I should recover after some time.”

“Please have a drink.” Keith then handed her some honey milk. And when she drank from it, “Delicious. What a wonderful taste.” It was rich and had a sweet flavor.

“It’s made from dragon bee honey and milk from a cowtuar.”

“Cowtuar?! Dragon bee?!” She was not the only one who was taken aback by those words. Elyndra and the others were surprised by what he just said. Those monsters were high-class and powerful.

“Hmm? I saw the hive before. When did you obtain a cowtuar, Keith?” Lilith noticed the giant hive on the second island. However, the cowtuar was a new animal.

“Oh, I got it after a festival. Gone to an A-rank dungeon and took her out.”

“Gala!” Eri shouted.

“I’ll bring Gala out to play later in the day.” She was not good with big places.

“…”

“Selk, you haven’t seen anything yet. There’s going to be lots of tasty food for you to try.” Scarlet smiled as she held her hand.

“Alright…” Selk smiled as she held back. There were a lot of things she had missed. Keith and the others left the two to talk with one another. Valgros then added, “So you’ve gone into dungeons. No wonder you’re strong.”

“I’m not that strong.” Keith shrugged, “Grandma Yukiko, thank you for helping.” This woman here had done so much for them that there were no words to describe it.

“There’s nothing much.” Yukiko grinned, “I’m going to be returning home.”

“Hmm? You’re not going to stay?”

“Nope! I need to go home and return to my hubby.”

“I see.” Keith chuckled, “Say hello to the rest for me.”

“Mmhm! See you later.” Yukiko instantly disappeared from her position. She had probably headed over to the teleportation gate. Tharaziel muttered, “She can easily disappear like that?”

“That’s why we said not to disrespect her.” Keith and Valgros rolled their eyes.

“…Anyways, we need to talk about some things,” Keith stated with a serious look. Elyndra and Lilith tilted their heads. The five had now gone to the pergola. That was when Keith started to explain what had happened.

“How dare they!”

“Who would dare try to attack you!” Elyndra’s eyes darkened.

“Not us,” Keith’s eyes directed at one prince. Valgros did the same, as he understood what they were after.

“Me?”

“...You have to be more aware of your surroundings.” Valgros sighed, “Besides destroying the Lily, they were after Tharaziel.” The assassins were clearly after the demon prince after they had taken out the lily.

Keith wondered, “Is it because of the succession?” Tharaziel was a prince. He would be the highest threat in a succession of power. Keith could only shake his head, “That meant the person is especially targeting Scarlet and forcing her.” The underlying was Scarlet since she would be the only heir.

“You don’t think it’s Sarthos and them, correct?”

“They’re the only logical answer to all of this.” Keith held his head as he wondered about what to do. Elyndra nodded, “Then we’ll increase the number of guards.”

“Understood.”

“For Scarlet, we should do the same.” Keith thought about it, “I’ll stay by Scarlet’s side.”

“Alright.” Lilith smiled. She was more than fine with this.

“We should tell Alastair about this as well.”

“…I don’t think he would care?” Tharaziel muttered. But that caused the others to do the same as well. Knowing how aloof he was, he might not care.
