Chapter 792: Chapter 603: The Legend of the Phoenix_1
Ada looked back as she spoke, casting a sympathetic and pitiful glance at Qin Jiagui.
In fact, since the incident with Yuan Niping, Qin Jiagui had been unable to face it, or rather, he had been unable to completely let go. Though later it seemed he had moved on and reconciled with Yuan Niping, Ada knew that deep in Qin Jiagui’s heart, he had not truly let go and forgiven that incident. In this world, there are very few who can truly hold no grudge at all.
He was merely forcing himself not to think about it, coercing himself. It can be said that from that moment on, a demon took root in Qin Jiagui’s heart, and his personality began to distort. He became irritable, impulsive, hysterical, and completely unlike the Qin Jiagui of the past.
Qin Jiagui’s temperament had always been quite rational. In fact, compared to Su Yu, Qin Jiagui was more mature and took a more comprehensive approach to problems. Since they fell into the Heavenly Pit Forest, although in terms of fighting spirit, Su Yu could leave Qin Jiagui far behind, when it came to rationality and thoroughness of thought, Qin Jiagui far outclassed Su Yu.
But since the incident with Yuan Niping, Qin Jiagui’s personality had completely changed, or to put it more precisely, he had become a paranoid. In his mind, there was a budding sickness. Therefore, during the trial, when he saw Yuan Niping being taken away by the Silver Train, he acted so frantically and even let himself be cursed by Beth Finley, the Black Iron Guardian, to suffer daily. Knowing that the Tears of Timis could alleviate this pain, he actually refused them, preferring to endure such inhuman torment and locked himself away in his palace every day, forbidding entry to anyone.
At this point, Qin Jiagui’s behaviors had already become demonic and were no longer those of a sane person. It was because at that time, Su Yu was busy with his own affairs and had no energy to deal with Qin Jiagui, while others stayed away from him due to the terror he inspired. This resulted in an increasingly severe pathology in Qin Jiagui.
All of this led to Qin Jiagui’s behavior upon entering the Upper Realm, where just the sight of the Silver Train, and hearing a voice that sounded exactly like the Silver Giant Arm that had taken Yuan Niping, made him lose all restraint and rush forward madly. The Qin Jiagui of the past, how could he ever do such a thing? All these actions were because Qin Jiagui was extremely mentally unstable. In the real world, his mental state was already leaning towards mental illness.
Ada had seen all of this, but she knew that to overcome it and release himself from the heart demon, only Qin Jiagui could help himself; no one else could. Until now, through Su Yu, Ada had perceived the potential harm Qin Jiagui might face and seized the opportunity to speak these words aloud, causing him to tremble profoundly. Suddenly, it was as if he had come to a realization.
All this time, he had never truly forgiven Yuan Niping, and by restraining his thoughts, he had driven himself mad. But now, having personally experienced that night of madness and felt the pain of being hurt, Ada’s words struck him like the evening bell and morning drum, like a wake-up call. In that instant, Qin Jiagui felt a cold spring pouring down from the top of his head, flooding his heart. It washed over him, cloaking his entire body, and the dark clouds that had clogged his mind suddenly scattered.
People often only come to the realization after experiencing the same pain and suffering as the other person, then they understand the other’s helplessness and the bitterness and despair therein. Qin Jiagui let go of his face with both hands and sat on Ada’s back, silently staring at his own palms. Then, he closed his eyes, as if gaining enlightenment like the Buddha, and began to meditate on Ada’s back, motionless. His face cleared from the previous gloom, gradually returning to clarity. This change was so clear that even Su Yu and Ma Ziye were taken surprised.
Ada smiled faintly at Qin Jiagui’s reaction, turned her head back, and continued chasing the Phoenix Dragon Beast through the sky. She knew that Qin Jiagui had finally overcome his heart demon. Whether or not he could let go of his own experiences, at least, he truly no longer harbored any grudge concerning Yuan Niping.
"This guy, not bad," Ada murmured with a low chuckle, speeding up once again to chase the Phoenix Dragon Beast.
The million mountains stretched endlessly, with no end in sight. The Phoenix Dragon Beast had carried them at high speed for three days, and finally, it began to slow down and descend. In the distant sky, several fox eagles were still circling annoyingly.
Fortunately, they hadn’t been attacked by enemies over the past three days, but the lack of action was worrying, for if the enemy had not made a rash move, they were likely making thorough preparations. Once they struck, it would surely be with thunderous force, aiming for a fatal blow.
During these three days, Su Yu on Ada’s back had redoubled his efforts to absorb the power of the Dark Heart, transforming it into Lightning Power within his body, while Qin Jiagui continued to sit cross-legged. In his forehead, the mark "77" faintly flickered now and then, appearing and disappearing mysteriously.
"Here we are. This is the place," Ada announced. "According to the inherited memories within me, I recognize this place. I believe it must be where my mother came from and where I was born."
The Phoenix Dragon Beast turned its head to look at Ada and the others, its voice filled with pride. Though it had spent quite some time in the Bronze Tower, the inheritance in its blood let it know that it was a noble creature, and it was naturally marked by the land of its origin.
Ada contracted his body and began to shrink, while Su Yu put away the Dark Heart and looked up at the valley before them.
This valley, deep and lengthy, was filled with densely packed, lush, and perfectly straight bamboo. These bamboos differed from those Su Yu and the others had seen in their former world. Each stalk in front of them soared over twenty meters tall, thick as a human body, adorned with tender shoots resembling children’s arms. On each robust bamboo pole, there were at least over a hundred of these shoots.
The sight of the valley was a vision of countless towering bamboos reaching heights of twenty or thirty meters—some even forty to fifty meters. These splendid green bamboos bore leaves as large as cattail fans, slightly upturned like small boats, brimming with clear emerald morning dew.
When the Phoenix Dragon Beast brought Su Yu and the others here, it was at dawn, and as they were captivated by the endless expanse of splendid green bamboo, a crisp, rippling sound suddenly came from the distant sky. The sound, delicate as wind chimes, started faint but soon filled the entire world. Then, Su Yu and Ma Ziye, along with the others, witnessed an astonishing scene.
Accompanied by that crisp, rippling sound, the wind directed through the towering bamboo, bird after bird of varying sizes appeared in the far sky.
These birds, with heads like chickens, jaws like swallows, necks like snakes, claws like hawks, tails like fish, shells like turtles, and feathers as beautiful as peacocks, descended as if heralding the king of birds, the Phoenix, from legend.
These Phoenix-like giant birds were colored like desert sands in yellow, like clouds in the sky in white, and in a noble purple that resembled a bunch of blooming rosy clouds.
Even the Phoenix Dragon Beast stood stunned, eyes wide, mouth agape, as it watched these kin—both similar and different from itself—feeling such awe for the first time.
Numerous beyond count, the yellow, white, and purple Phoenix-like giant birds cascaded in waves. With the sound of their flapping, they began to devour the tender bamboo shoots, which resembled the arms of children, and to drink the morning dew from the upturned leaves.
In an instant, the endless sea of green bamboo was adorned with exceptional beauty, the sight unfolding like a dream.
Ada hopped onto Su Yu’s shoulder, looking from afar, and softly exclaimed in admiration, "Just like the legends say, creatures with Phoenix blood naturally possess an elegant disposition, drinking only morning dew, feeding only on tender bamboo, never settling on anything less than a thousand-year-old parasol tree. Now it seems, the legend is no falsehood."
Hearing this, Su Yu couldn’t help but glance at the Phoenix Dragon Beast beside him, thinking that this fellow also had Phoenix blood flowing within, yet it didn’t seem to possess such a noble demeanor. Most of the time, it simply came across as somewhat arrogant.
The Phoenix Dragon Beast was initially stunned by the scene, never having encountered so many of its kin with similar blood before. After its initial shock, it was overcome with excitement. Beating its dragon wings and spreading its Phoenix-like tail feathers, it soared into the sky, issuing a crisp, melodious cry. It was thrilled to the core, wanting to greet the thousands of giant birds before it. Even the blood markings within told it that somewhere in this Phoenix nesting ground, its mother must be waiting.
Su Yu, watching from below, saw the Phoenix Dragon Beast’s excited antics, crying out like a child, and couldn’t help but smile and shake his head. He now realized the creature was probably not very old, always acting mature and prideful, but in truth, it was just an immature child at heart.
Smiling and shaking his head, Su Yu watched as the Phoenix Dragon Beast excitedly rushed towards them. Meanwhile, the differently colored giant birds, busy eating tender shoots and drinking morning dew, also looked up, gazing at this intruder with a dragon’s head, dragon wings, a Phoenix’s tail, and peacock feathers. Many of them showed signs of astonishment in their eyes. (To be continued. If you want to know what happens next, please visit www.qidian.com.
