Chapter 791: Chapter 602: Qin Jiagui Wakes Up (Seeking Monthly Votes)_2
Su Yu hummed, and the image of that mysterious woman wearing a sun hat appeared in his mind.
As for the woman with the sun hat, Su Yu didn’t really hold any grudge against her. If he put himself in her shoes, he probably would have done the same thing. Speaking of the incident, it was Qin Jiagui who caused the trouble first, and as his friend, he had no choice but to step in, despite his reluctance. He had his reasons for getting involved, and of course, she had things that she needed to protect.
The two parties just stood on different grounds; there was no right or wrong.
With this thought, Su Yu’s gaze fell upon Qin Jiagui, and he rubbed his temples, recalling the sea of flames in the Sky Prison and the demise of tens of thousands of innocent lives; it weighed heavily on his heart. He was not a killing maniac; however, the one who had committed this massacre was Qin Jiagui, the friend he had always regarded as an ally.
"What exactly happened that night, what made Qin Jiagui go on a rampage... why did he kill so many people..." Suddenly, Su Yu muttered to himself, voicing his doubts.
Ada, who was running, chimed in, "He must have been greatly provoked, or maybe, he got bullied and beaten up there?"
Su Yu shivered violently as the thought struck him; he remembered his own encounter when he had just entered Prison No.5. If he hadn’t severely injured Ah Kuang, thereby deterring those men, the consequences would have been unimaginable. And what had Qin Jiagui experienced in Prison No.18?
In fact, at first, Su Yu felt that the world was quite orderly, certainly much less chaotic than the Black Iron World. For instance, he and Qin Jiagui were caught for offending that lady, sent to the Judgment Hall, had a lawyer arranged for their defense, and were only sentenced to half a month’s detention.
All of this made Su Yu feel that the world was fair and just. In comparison to the Sky Prison, it seemed very standardized, and because of this, he felt reassured, even though he was not detained with Qin Jiagui.
It was not until later in Prison No.5 when he saw those criminals that Su Yu faintly sensed that bullying and fear of the strong existed here too. However, firstly he and Qin Jiagui were already separated; secondly, he truly didn’t want to stir up more trouble, as he already had enough problems on his hands; and thirdly, given Qin Jiagui’s capabilities, Su Yu believed he could handle it. Besides, with so many criminals imprisoned and new ones arriving all the time, it wasn’t likely that while others could survive unscathed, Qin Jiagui alone would suffer and be killed. He couldn’t possibly summon the Azure Giant God and cause an uproar in the Sky Prison over a mere possibility.
The potential consequences of such an action could be even more severe, and at the time, Su Yu indeed hadn’t anticipated that for a man, there could be something more humiliating than being killed.
With a frown, Su Yu fixed his gaze on the unconscious Qin Jiagui lying on Ada’s back, and thought about his subsequent frenzied rampage. Even when Yuan Niping was taken away by the Silver Train, he hadn’t lost control like that. What kind of stimulus could have surpassed Yuan Niping being taken away?
Su Yu unconsciously scrutinized Qin Jiagui, pondering, and then thought of some unbearable matters, making his expression and eyes become somewhat odd.
"Su Yu, what are you thinking about?" Ada suddenly asked. Ma Ziye was equally astonished, "Su Yu, what exactly happened in Sky Prison that caused such a huge commotion? Ada told me that you planned to stay peacefully in Sky Prison for half a month. How did it end up like this?"
Su Yu gave a wry smile. He had intended to say it was all Qin Jiagui’s fault and had nothing to do with him, but as the words reached his lips, he suddenly considered that if Qin Jiagui really experienced what he had imagined, it would be somewhat improper to say so, so he just shook his head, "Many things are unpredictable. Ah, if only I had known it would turn out like this, I would have summoned the Azure Giant God from the start. I shouldn’t have allowed them to capture us..." He stopped abruptly when he remembered the lady capable of summoning eight Ghost Deities. He realized that even if he had summoned the Azure Giant God that day, he still wouldn’t have escaped.
Seeing Su Yu hesitate, Ma Ziye did not press further, sensing there was something he found difficult to express. However, the curiosity in her eyes remained as she looked at Su Yu.
Su Yu noticed Ma Ziye’s peculiar gaze and his heart skipped a beat. He wondered if Ziye could have misunderstood, thinking that he had encountered something dishonorable in Sky Prison. No, he should clarify, lest his image be completely ruined in her eyes.
Just as Su Yu was about to explain, the unconscious Qin Jiagui let out a faint moan.
"He’s awake?" Ma Ziye looked down, and Su Yu involuntarily closed his mouth, turning his gaze towards Qin Jiagui.
Qin Jiagui, lying there, frowned and slowly twisted his body, letting out two unconscious moans. His consciousness was gradually returning as he began to awaken from his coma.
Su Yu watched Qin Jiagui with a slightly heightened alertness because he did not know if Qin Jiagui would fully regain consciousness after waking up or if he would be in the same berserk state as he was in the Sky Prison. He was not worried about himself, but he felt he needed to worry for Ma Ziye’s safety.
Qin Jiagui moaned softly and slowly opened his eyes; then, the faces of Su Yu and Ma Ziye came into his view.
"Ah--" Suddenly, Qin Jiagui screamed, startling both Su Yu and Ma Ziye. Fearing that he might go berserk again, Su Yu quickly pulled Ma Ziye behind him to protect her, and she fell onto his body, her pretty face blushing slightly.
After Qin Jiagui’s sudden scream, he quickly quieted down, his hands clutching his head as he curled up on Ada’s back, shivering all over as if trying to hide himself.
"Qin Jiagui?" Su Yu tentatively called out his name.
"I... I’m fine... really fine... heh heh... I really am alright..." Hearing Su Yu’s call, Qin Jiagui suddenly lifted his head, still clutching it. His face was slightly distorted and very pale, but he forced out a smile uglier than crying and kept saying he was fine, sounding very incoherent.
Seeing Qin Jiagui’s abnormal behavior, Su Yu felt a sinking feeling in his heart. Could it be that in the Sky Prison, Qin Jiagui had truly suffered inhuman treatment? Could this be why he went berserk and killed over a hundred people in prison? He was now clearly awake from his berserk state, but why was he so abnormal?
"Qin Jiagui--" Su Yu couldn’t help raising his voice. In this shout, there was an implicit willpower that reached Qin Jiagui’s ears, causing him to tremble violently and then freeze, slowly lowering his hands from his head.
"Qin Jiagui, what exactly is wrong with you?" Ma Ziye, completely puzzled, said, "As long as we don’t lose hope ourselves, there will always be hope. Have you forgotten what you entered this world for? Ni Ping is still waiting for you somewhere in this world. Even if you’ve caused big trouble, there must be a way to resolve it, right?"
Ma Ziye thought that Qin Jiagui’s abnormality was due to the massacre at the Sky Prison, and now he was afraid of being pursued by enemies.
Hearing Ni Ping’s name, Qin Jiagui’s body trembled slightly, and then his facial muscles twitched. He reached out a hand to touch his face, shivering, and Su Yu saw tears falling through his fingers.
Qin Jiagui was crying? Was it because he missed Ni Ping, or because he was crying for himself?
Men do not easily shed tears, for they only flow when they reach a place of heartbreak. But, what sort of heartbreak had Qin Jiagui encountered? Su Yu and Ma Ziye exchanged glances, at a loss.
Ada’s voice suddenly echoed softly, "Qin Jiagui, it’s time to wake up. Ever since Yuan Niping was harmed, a demon has been in your heart that has never been driven away. In the Floating Island Sky Prison, tens of thousands of innocent lives were lost. After paying such a heavy price, don’t you think it’s time to realize the truth?"
Ada and Su Yu were of one mind. Once Su Yu had a vague idea of what might have happened to Qin Jiagui in the Sky Prison, it was natural for Ada to understand as well. Her words sounded strange, but Qin Jiagui, who was still touching his face, shuddered violently upon hearing them and suddenly froze in place.
A demon? Is there a devil in my heart? (To be continued, for more information, please visit www.qidian.com. There are more Chapters available, support the author, support legitimate reading!)
