Chapter 229: Chapter 192: Taboo Restrictions
"Dragon... Dragon Kid, are you saying that... two years from now... all humans on Earth... will enter this world? What is the opportunity you mentioned that will come in two years?" Meng Ting’s youthful face entirely lost its smile, she hurriedly asked.
Dragon Kid was about to answer with a smile, when he suddenly let out a sharp cry, his small claws clutched his throat and he rolled on the ground whimpering. Foam appeared from his mouth as he continued to twitch.
"Dragon Kid, what’s wrong?" Meng Ting rushed over, very alarmed.
Dragon Kid looked at her, trying to say something but failing. Suddenly, he collapsed onto the ground face-first, kneeling toward the sky. He then started knocking his head onto the ground, a sight resembling a bowing ceremony or a plea for mercy. The strange scene left everyone with an eerie and somewhat fearful feeling.
After a while, Dragon Kid’s movements slowed down and he collapsed weakly onto the ground, gasping for breath.
"Dragon Kid, how are you now? What happened just now?" Meng Ting’s face was full of anxiety.
A bitter smile appeared on Dragon Kid’s face. He wiped off the foam from his mouth and said in a slow, strained voice: "I carelessly said something I shouldn’t have... I know you have many questions, but please don’t ask anymore... If I accidentally spill something else, I really could lose my life."
Intertwined with fear, he recounted his recent experience. What he had just experienced seemed to have left Dragon Kid with a sense of great fear, he tightly closed his mouth, no longer daring to speak recklessly.
Su Yu, however, fell silent. Seeing Dragon Kid’s ordeal, he thought of Kou Xiaowei. Kou Xiaowei had always seemed as if she was hiding something, reluctant to speak about this world. In truth, rather than not wanting to tell them, could she simply not be allowed to do so? Otherwise, could she encounter similar misfortunes?
This thought made Su Yu lift his head to gaze into the infinite red space. He wondered, could there be something outside this world, watching over their every move? Does everything underly a preset process enacted by certain restrictions that must be obeyed? Are those who dare to defy these processes subjected to horrifying punishments, or even death?
The news Dragon Kid had revealed was shocking and horrific. The ones still alive surrounded him were dumbfounded, unable to come back to their senses.
Two years later, will all humanity be engulfed in this world? Were they just the first ones chosen? Were there four other human civilizations that experienced similar events before them? Are the disappearances of various civilizations, even the prehistoric ones, due to being sucked into this world? Do these various human civilizations still exist in this world?
Dragon Kid mentioned that the "Sky Eye" is actually an "artificial human" created by the Atlantis civilization, so what exactly is this "artificial human"? Does the Atlantis civilization still exist in this world? If it exists, where is it now? How has the civilization developed over tens of thousands of years?
All these questions lurked in everyone’s minds. Everyone wanted to ask Dragon Kid, but after recalling what had just happened, no words came out.
After a long while, Meng Ting cautiously said: "Dragon Kid, why don’t you... choose some things you think you can say... and let us hear them? We are all anxiously waiting."
Dragon Kid immediately replied: "I can’t, I can’t. I don’t know what I should or shouldn’t say. If I say the wrong thing again, I will get killed. TingTing, stop asking. Unless something happens that allows me to talk, otherwise we can’t randomly say things. For example, ’Sky Eye’ being an artificial human, I can say without any repercussions. But I can’t recklessly talk about other things."
Dragon Kid had been scared by the previous events and did not want to say more.
Fang Jiong suddenly slapped his hands together and muttered to himself: "No wonder the little girl seems to be holding back a lot, not daring to speak randomly. Like the matter of the ’Category 5 Lifeforms’, she only mentioned it when we encountered them in the cave. Now I see it, she’s like Dragon Kid, not that she doesn’t want to say, but she can’t. We really blamed her unjustly."
"Yes, Xiao Wei must also be constrained by certain restrictions. But, she is just a child. Why would she be restricted? Isn’t she the same kind of human as us? Could it be that we too have certain restrictions?" Su Yu mused.
"You are referring to that little girl, right? She is a new human, different from you all. Of course, she would face considerable restrictions," Dragon Kid blurted out when he heard Su Yu mention Xiao Wei.
"New Human?" Su Yu looked at him, surprised.
Dragon Kid casually said: "You humans are the third category of lifeform, and while the New Humans can’t be considered the fourth class, they can be considered a category 3.5 lifeform. They’re a tad more advanced than you old humans. But, the higher the tier, the more information one knows, and thus, the more restrictions one will have to face. Ah, being a plant is the best, they can’t talk anyway, so there are no restrictions."
Fang Jiong asked, "What exactly are these ’New Humans’? Are they different from us? Are they like that artificial human?"
Su Yu thought back to how Kou Xiaowei had once mentioned her inability to advance and evolve. Could it be because she’s one of the ’New Humans’?
Dragon Kid was about to answer Fang Jiong’s question when Meng Ting hurriedly warned, "Dragon Kid, be careful what you say. Don’t speak recklessly and create any accidents!"
Startled by Meng Ting’s warning, Dragon Kid hastily covered its mouth with its small claws.
Meng Ting turned her attention to the others, a serious expression on her young face. "Dragon Kid has a loose tongue and often speaks thoughtlessly. It’s prone to slip-ups, so be careful not to ask it anything too sensitive, just in case."
The others nodded in agreement. Su Yu couldn’t help but speak up, "Meng Ting, you two can cast ’Dragon Flame Roar’ together, which is tremendously powerful. Why didn’t you use it earlier? Is there a time limit for using combined attack skills?"
Meng Ting glanced at him, explaining, "Currently, Dragon Kid can use combined attack skills three times a day. There is still one use left for today. However, these attack skills only work effectively against monsters or people who haven’t formed a Symbiotic Contract with Category 5 Lifeforms. For symbiotic hosts like us, it’s quite hard for us to be harmed by the flames of these creatures. So, using it wouldn’t really have had any effect."
Su Yu understood a bit more. The Black Flame of Ada, for instance, and Dragon Kid’s fiery dragon flame, seemed fundamentally similar in their properties and had little substantial effect on the symbiotic hosts, explaining why neither Meng Ting nor the thirty-year-old man, the leader of the opposing side, had used their strikingly powerful combined attack skills.
With that realization, a sudden shock jolted Su Yu as he remembered Ada. He hurried to Fang Jiong, asking anxiously, "How is Ada doing?"
Fang Jiong pulled Ada out from his large chest pocket. Ada’s body was icy cold and stiff, seeming almost lifeless.
Su Yu’s heart skipped a beat when he took Ada into his hands. Instantly, Dragon Kid leaped over, calling out urgently, "Hurry, get the Crystal Essence!"
Regaining his senses, Su Yu immediately ran to the place that Dragon Kid had pointed to earlier. He summoned the black scales on his arm and slammed his elbow down.
With a thunderous impact, followed by the brittle noise of splintering crystals, a gigantic crater formed on the large Crystal Pile in a flash, shattering chunks of crystals.
Smack! Smack! Su Yu stretched out his left arm, revealing his Lizard Arm, and struck downward once again mightily. The Lizard Arm doubled the strength of his punch, creating a horrifyingly powerful blow that instantly splintered a deep, seven or eight-meter-long fissure in the Crystal Pile.
Dragon Kid, dragging the motionless Ada by its side, scurried to the edge of the fissure. Suddenly, it let in a deep breath and swiped its claws toward the bottom of the fissure. Category 5 Lifeforms like Dragon Kid had astounding abilities. As Dragon Kid made this motion, a red half-finger-sized crystal rose from the pit.
This crystal seemed completely formed by fiery energy, with luminescent streams flowing across its surface. Even Su Yu and the others could sense the immense energy stored within this tiny crystal.
Dragon Kid carefully placed the floating, red, semi-solid, semi-liquid crystal into Ada’s mouth.
The moment the Fire Elemental Crystal Essence entered Ada’s mouth, it slowly melted. Streams of warm and soft fire energy radiated out from Ada’s mouth and slowly spread in all directions within his body. Soon, Ada’s initially cold and stiff body slowly thawed. The frostiness gradually vanished, and his body became soft once more.
Dragon Kid observed all this with unconcealed excitement, while the others watched in silence. Even Meng Ting and the rest, despite their relatively long period of symbiosis with Dragon Kid, still found Category 5 Lifeforms like it filled with an irresistible air of mystery and intrigue.
As beings close to ’perfect life’, Category 5 Lifeforms are said to possess immense inherent potential and a wealth of knowledge, along with a variety of incredible abilities. Their singular purpose is to evolve into perfect Type 6 Lifeforms.
Watching Ada gradually recover, an excited Dragon Kid rushed over to another side and picked up the weakly gasping wolf-headed snake that was lying feebly on the ground.
This creature was also a Category 5 Lifeform. However, after its Master, the thirty-year-old man, died, it seemed to have lost most of its power. Put through the wringer by Dragon Kid and hauled over here, the wolf-headed creature seemed to comprehend the forthcoming events and immediately let out a weak, terrified shriek.
