Chapter 47: Big Increase

Oliver’s mouth opened and closed repeatedly, his eyes wide as he trembled.

A curse?

That was something he had never even heard of.

Then again, in an era where spiritual power was real—and where a system could awaken someone’s abilities just by killing monsters—it wasn’t entirely surprising.

But the fact that both of his parents were affected by a curse... and that this was the real cause of his father’s death?

And the curse targeted them because they had done something forbidden to gain power?

What kind of forbidden act had they committed?

How could his parents have done something like that?

Oliver’s head felt like it was shrouded in fog, filled with far too many questions and thoughts.

Sofia remained silent after saying all that, giving the impression that she had no intention of continuing the conversation.

Oliver was burning with curiosity, but this was his mother—a frail woman suffering from illness. He couldn’t interrogate her, even if he had a heart made of ice.

If she didn’t want to talk about it, he wouldn’t force her.

He certainly didn’t dare hurt her feelings.

Even Emma seemed to understand that now wasn’t the right time to speak.

"...By the way, Mom, do you want another healing session with my Life Force?" Oliver asked with a smile, gently changing the subject.

"It helps... but the effects from yesterday still linger. Maybe later. For now, you should focus on cultivating. I’m doing okay at the moment. If I’m ever in real danger, I’ll ask for your help," Sofia replied softly.

Oliver nodded, exhaling quietly.

"In that case, I’ll head to my room," he said.

He planned to spend the rest of the afternoon cultivating.

Once in his room, he sat on the floor—choosing it over the bed this time.

The scales were too large; he was worried it would be difficult to find space to cultivate with them laid out in front of him.

Fortunately, Void Sense allowed him to observe everything in the Observation Ring in fine detail.

In fact, that was the best method to examine them, as it could penetrate even the smallest gaps.

Even within the frozen space of the ring, the large void points still offered Oliver a great deal of inspiration in his cultivation.

After all, void was something devoid of life entirely—it didn’t change regardless of location, frozen or not.

"Incredible... These are just like my void power... but natural."

Oliver couldn’t help but speak aloud after observing the void points for a long time.

They were actually helping him understand Black Hole and Void Body Transformation.

From his own estimation, if that black snake had been able to fully control the innate void power in its body, it could’ve devoured anything through those void points—utterly erasing them.

This was also something he could potentially do. At that point, he might even be able to absorb Spiritual Energy at incredible speed.

Feeling confident that this would advance his cultivation, he decided to focus on understanding Black Hole, putting everything else aside for now.

The Black Hole existed in his body, but he still couldn’t manifest it—or rather, he hadn’t fully mastered it yet.

Now, however, he was beginning to understand how to control it.

If he succeeded, his comprehension of Black Hole would automatically reach 5%.

And the void points on the scales were truly helping him figure out the method to do so quickly.

All the mysteries began to connect, dissolving his confusion. It was like untangling a knotted thread—and he had now reached the point where only a few knots remained before it was all straightened out.

Though it might sound short when described, the process actually took four hours before he opened his eyes.

Black Hole (5%) +0.91

"Finally!"

He let out a relieved breath—not too surprised by the result, since he had been confident all along. It was just a matter of time.

"Now I can finally do it!" he smiled.

With a mere thought, he could now release his Black Hole from within his body.

It started out small but expanded quickly—about three times the size of a portal—spinning calmly at first, though he could accelerate its rotation, making it begin to devour everything... unless he limited it to only absorb Spiritual Energy.

"And I can even make a smaller version," he muttered.

He first transformed parts of his body into void—his hands and feet—then created miniature Black Holes within those void gaps, just like the ones on the snake scales.

This was a combination with Void Body Transformation. Without that technique, it wouldn’t have been possible. And his understanding of Void Body Transformation was already sufficient to allow for such a combination.

"Only true void can be turned into a Black Hole. Void particles aren’t enough," he thought as realization struck him.

How could he create true void?

Obviously, the only way was through fully transforming his body.

But he hadn’t mastered that technique to a high enough degree—not even reaching 10%, which was the minimum needed to transform his entire body into void.

And going beyond 10% wouldn’t be so simple either.

He might then be able to transform into a much larger void form—where he could freely create real Black Holes instead of mini ones.

"That was fast!" he exclaimed as he checked the latest data on his Spiritual Energy.

(Spiritual Energy: 100/500!) +100

It had taken less than three minutes, and he had already gathered 100 Spiritual Energy—faster than any resource he had used before.

And he had done it casually, without even focusing.

Once he focused, his absorption speed increased several times over.

(Spiritual Energy: 500/500!) +400

He hit the limit, and his Spiritual Space began to expand again, elevating his cultivation to the next stage.

(Cultivation: Stage Five of the Spiritual Master Realm!)

(Spiritual Energy: 0/600!)

Just because his cultivation had improved, Oliver didn’t stop.

He continued seeking inspiration from the void points.

They had helped him release his Black Hole and master it completely—but beyond that point, the void points weren’t enough to further develop the Black Hole technique.

For that, he would need new sources of inspiration.

However, the void points were still extremely helpful—especially for understanding Void Body Transformation, since, in essence, they were the same.

In fact, his rate of comprehension in Void Body Transformation was much faster than it had been with Black Hole.

In just 30 minutes, he had already increased his understanding by 1%, and it kept climbing, albeit more slowly.

Eventually—after who knows how long—and the sky had already begun to darken, he stopped, opening his eyes with a bright, satisfied expression.

Void Body Transformation (10%) +3.30

"Who said cultivating is hard? Why do I feel the complete opposite? Cultivating seems easy and fun," he said.

If anyone had heard that statement, who knows how many people would’ve cursed him for being so smug.
