A Cultivator in the World Dominated By Awakeners -
Chapter 46: Can’t
Chapter 46: Can’t
Through Evylin, Oliver finally learned much more about the Chaotic World—such as places where he might be able to obtain treasures.
It was a long and satisfying conversation. He only stopped asking questions when he saw his teacher beginning to look tired from speaking so much.
"After you get those scales, focus on cultivating first. I think observing the void points on them will help you quite a bit," said Evylin before getting up.
"I want to take a bath first. This isn’t over yet, so keep waiting," she added, walking away from the dining room.
Oliver followed her to the living room but stopped there as Evylin headed upstairs.
While sitting on the sofa, Oliver pulled out his phone and played a casual game to help the time pass more quickly.
Evylin didn’t bathe quickly. Even though she had a somewhat masculine style, it seemed that didn’t change the long bathing habits typical of women.
Oliver even got sleepy while waiting, until he finally saw her coming down the stairs—wearing long jeans, a tight tank top, and a black leather jacket.
From the looks of it, she was planning to go somewhere.
As soon as she came down, she walked up to him.
"Lend me your Observation Ring. I’ll transfer the scales into it—they’d fill my whole house if I released them here," she said.
Oliver wasn’t surprised that their size was enormous. After all, the snake that died outside the cave was already gigantic.
He handed his Observation Ring over to Evylin.
Just a moment after receiving it, she gave the ring back to him.
"I’m heading out, so you should leave too—unless you want to be locked in here," Evylin said.
"Thank you, Master!" Oliver quickly nodded.
"Lisa, let’s go!" Evylin then called out, and Lisa quickly followed.
Outside, Evylin’s sports car was already waiting with the engine running.
Before getting into the car, she looked back at Luis.
"There are a lot of cars in the garage. You can take one," she said.
Oliver couldn’t have been more shocked to hear that, but before he could say anything, Evylin flicked her fingers toward the garage door, and it opened on its own—revealing rows of luxury cars: sports cars, sedans, and SUVs.
"You should take one—it’s a gift from me to celebrate your recent progress," she added before getting into her car.
She only sat in the passenger seat, while Lisa took the driver’s side.
"By the way, the gate will close in ten minutes," Evylin added.
After that, the car sped off.
Oliver didn’t have time to think too much. Being given a gift by his master—how could he refuse?
He entered the garage only to become confused about which car to choose.
There wasn’t a single "standard" vehicle. Even the cheapest one looked like it cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Thinking it would be excessive to take anything too expensive, Oliver decided to choose among the more modest ones and eventually settled on a white SUV that looked bold and rugged—a new Mercedes model.
The key wasn’t in his hand, but when he opened the door, it unlocked immediately because the key had been left inside the vehicle.
Sitting in the driver’s seat, he felt incredibly comfortable.
Vroom!
He started the engine, and even the vibrations gave a certain thrill.
Knowing the gate would close soon, he quickly stepped on the gas.
The SUV might be big, but it moved like a beast—fast and roaring.
Oliver was tempted to drive around the city a bit, but he reminded himself that he needed to get home quickly to help his mother and then observe the void points on the snake scales.
While driving, he finally peeked into his Observation Ring to check on the scales.
"No way!"
He was instantly stunned by the sheer size of each scale. On average, they were as big as a bus.
And these were just scale fragments—just how massive was the two-headed black snake in reality?
Oliver was convinced it must’ve been at least twice as big as the corpse of the giant snake he had previously seen.
The void points on the scales had also become much larger—similar in size to portals, maybe even a little bigger.
Each one looked mysterious, true voids like what appeared on his body when he transformed into a void form.
Unfortunately, he was still driving, so he couldn’t observe them for long—even though he had already started to feel inspired.
His driving speed only increased. He wasn’t afraid of crashing—an impact at 100 KM per hour clearly wouldn’t hurt his body at this point.
In no time, he arrived at his house, startling Emma who was relaxing in the front yard.
Oliver hadn’t closed the window of his car, so Emma could see him clearly.
"Bro?" she stood up with a puzzled expression.
"Follow me. I’m going to give something good to Mom," Oliver said to her as he stepped out of the car.
He rushed into the house and found his mother knitting a scarf.
"Mom, I’m going to help you become a Cultivator using a Spiritual Pill. After this, you’ll recover from your illness—and even be stronger than a normal human," Oliver said directly to her.
How could Sofia not be shocked upon hearing that? She even dropped the knitting needles in her hands.
A Spiritual Pill—as someone who had once tried to become a Cultivator, she naturally knew what that was.
But after the shock passed, Sofia suddenly shook her head.
"No. That’s not possible," she said.
"What?" This time, it was Oliver who was stunned.
"Mom, what do you mean, it’s not possible? This is a Spiritual Pill," he said, taking the pill out of his Observation Ring and letting it float in his palm.
Its beautiful appearance and pure aura instantly mesmerized Emma.
"I’ve consulted with my teacher. She said as long as I assist you with my Life Force, the absorption process will go smoothly in a single cultivation session."
"No. It really won’t work," Sofia replied.
"Why?" Oliver was becoming more confused. Nothing was going the way he expected.
Something was wrong—something he couldn’t figure out.
"My illness isn’t as simple as you think," Sofia said.
"It’s a curse. On the surface, it looks like a disease that weakens my body, but something is hidden beneath. Even beings far stronger wouldn’t notice it—so of course medical equipment wouldn’t either. Your father’s illness was caused by the same thing, though much worse—that’s why he died. At least I managed to survive. All of this happened because we tried something forbidden to gain power."
