A Cultivator in the World Dominated By Awakeners
Chapter 36: To The Chaotic World Again

Chapter 36: To The Chaotic World Again

Around 9 PM, Oliver finally finished all of his household chores.

After dinner, he took a shower and changed into some nice clothes.

Then, he headed back into the Chaotic World.

It was time to sharpen himself again. After all, just meditating wouldn’t help him easily deepen his understanding anymore.

He reappeared above the same cave as before, but since it was nighttime again, the view remained dim.

He couldn’t see too far — his Void Sense had a far greater range than his normal vision.

"So she’s over there."

He could sense Ivy’s presence deep in the hills.

The girl had entered the Chaotic World earlier than him, apparently in pursuit of a target. She had even brought many others who had merged with her undead.

Shua!

Oliver summoned his transparent dagger — a Tier 2+ Weapon.

Small but radiant like a gemstone in the dark, the blade pulsed with quiet lethality.

Unexpected danger could appear at any moment. With that dagger in hand, he could unleash more powerful, deadly strikes.

Whoosh!

He leapt from the top of the cave to a nearby hill.

He could now leap tens of meters without effort.

From there, he sprinted, conjuring a shield from void particles and sending it ahead of him. Trees in his path shattered instantly.

By his estimate, Ivy wasn’t too far, so he focused on reaching her location without stopping, even though he spotted a few monsters that seemed interesting to fight.

He occasionally crossed paths with other adventurers — most were beginners like him.

After about 20 minutes of travel, he heard the sound of an intense battle behind a hill, in a fairly wide valley surrounded on all sides by more hills.

But the fight wasn’t between humans and monsters — it was between dozens of undead, about 40 in total, and a swarm of giant black rats the size of cows — some even as big as cars.

Naturally, Oliver spotted Ivy behind the undead ranks, simply observing the battle.

She’d said before that she could only control up to 15 undead at most, but there were 40 here, meaning that around 25 of them must be controlled by others who had merged with undead.

Oliver hadn’t expected to see so many people.

That said, from his observations, the regular undead looked quite weak — it probably took two of them to match the average strength of an Awakener at the same level.

However, the two Undead Kings he saw were a different story — they looked fierce.

They wore armor and wielded massive swords cloaked in dark energy that drained life on contact.

They could even launch waves of dark energy that caused the ground to wither and blacken upon touching it.

Clearly, this was death energy — and Oliver had to admit, it was an extremely dangerous force.

He only watched for a bit before approaching Ivy, who had sensed his presence the moment he entered the area.

Her expression, which had been serious, instantly brightened with joy.

Among the two, she was clearly the one with butterflies in her stomach.

"Why are you only fighting rats? Your level won’t rise quickly that way," Oliver said.

He knew that the amount of EXP an Awakener gained varied based on the type of monster killed, even if the level was the same.

Monsters with more ferocious combat ability — like lions — would give far more EXP.

"I need to train the people I recruited first. They’re still not used to combat," Ivy replied.

Oliver nodded in understanding, then glanced at the two Undead Kings.

"Are they also merged with humans?"

"Only one. The other one is under my control. I’m keeping the third one hidden until I find a suitable candidate — I can only control one myself," Ivy answered.

"Who’s the person controlling that one?" Oliver asked curiously.

"My grandfather," Ivy replied.

Oliver rolled his eyes.

"My grandpa’s still ambitious about becoming a Cultivator. He used to be in the military, so he has a solid martial arts base." Ivy explained.

Although it still felt a little weird, Oliver nodded slightly.

"Since I’m here, let’s go find stronger monsters. Even if it’s a level 10 monster, I’m confident I can beat it," he said.

"What if it’s level 11?" Ivy asked.

Oliver raised an eyebrow — she suddenly brought up something stronger.

From level 10 to 11, there was actually a subtle transformation in power, making them much stronger than the difference between levels below 10.

"That’s fine. Did you spot a level 11 monster?"

"Yeah. On one of the nearby hills, I saw a huge gorilla at level 11. At the time, it was fighting a level 10 Awakener, but the fight didn’t last — the Awakener had to flee." Ivy explained.

"If I can kill that gorilla, I’ll level up at least three times," she added.

"Then let’s go to that hill. I’ll beat it down until it’s weak, then you can swarm it with your undead," Oliver said with a grin.

"Alright!" Ivy nodded.

She then recalled the undead she controlled and signaled the merged ones to gather.

Apparently, she had a special way of communicating with them.

As they retreated, the giant rats also withdrew — the tide had turned against them, and they were more than happy to escape once the attacks stopped.

Oliver’s attention turned to the undead merged with humans. As they gathered in front of him and Ivy, their heads transformed back into human heads.

Among them, he spotted several students — mostly those close to Ivy.

Of course, the most striking was the Undead King, whose head now showed an old bald man with a thick beard — clearly her grandfather.

"Ivy, what’s going on?" the old man asked, glancing at Oliver with a puzzled look.

The students were even more curious — they didn’t expect to see Oliver in the Chaotic World.

They could come here by following Ivy, but how did he get in?

Unless... he already had cultivation.

"Grandpa, we’re heading to another location," Ivy replied.

Her tone with him wasn’t cold, but it certainly wasn’t as soft as when she spoke to Oliver.

Hearing her reply, everyone began to wonder where they were going.

"Follow me!" Ivy gave a clear command.

Here, she looked like the undisputed leader. Everyone immediately followed her command.

Still, they couldn’t help but feel confused seeing Ivy walking side by side with Oliver, clearly trying to be kind — a side of her none of them had ever seen.

Her grandfather, Henry Wilson, was an experienced old man. Naturally, he sensed something unusual between the two.

He walked up to Oliver, matching his pace, then stared sharply at him.

"Boy, who exactly are you?" he asked.

Oliver glanced at Ivy, who looked slightly unsure of what to say.

Since she didn’t respond, Oliver answered directly:

"You must be Mr. Wilson. As you can see, I’m Ivy’s boyfriend."
