A Crazy Love Proposal -
Chapter 220 - 220 117 Do You Like Me
Chapter 220: Chapter 117: Do You Like Me? Chapter 220: Chapter 117: Do You Like Me? If they had been told before that Wen Yangzhi could eat someone’s leftovers with such ease,
Wen Wei and Zhao Qin would have never believed it.
Yet it happened right under their noses.
A servant stepped forward to pour water for Yun Yuwan, but Wen Yangzhi picked up the cup first, his pale hand steadying the glass as he put it down without even blinking an eyelid, “Make it hot.”
Realizing Yun Yuwan probably couldn’t drink cold water, the servant hurried to get hot water.
Wen Yangzhi acted as if only he and Yun Yuwan were present at the table, “Did your stomach feel uncomfortable when you slept last night?”
“It was alright.” Yun Yuwan responded softly.
The volume of their conversation was low; it could almost be ignored as ambient background noise.
But Zhao Qin couldn’t pretend not to hear.
For seven whole years, so when did it start?
Zhao Qin suddenly interrupted their conversation, her voice suppressed and gloomy, “Can you not sleep in your brother’s room?”
Yun Yuwan looked up at Zhao Qin as if she had been struck by a small hammer.
Wen Yangzhi put down his slender wooden chopsticks, his demeanor calm and indifferent, his distaste directed solely at Yun Yuwan’s behavior, “Then I will sleep in her room.”
Zhao Qin’s anger almost blew past the tipping point, but she didn’t erupt, choosing instead to question, “Do you have to do this?”
Wen Yangzhi looked at her steadily, his gaze dark, “It’s me who has to do this, I can’t be without her.”
Yun Yuwan, holding her fork, attempted to argue with difficulty, “Auntie… I…”
But Zhao Qin didn’t pay her any heed, “Must you choose her?”
“Yes.” Wen Yangzhi answered without hesitation, not sparing Zhao Qin another glance.
His nonchalant reply was worlds apart from Zhao Qin’s fiery demeanor.
Wen Yangzhi reinstated the cufflink he’d undone to use the chopsticks, casting a sideways glance at Yun Yuwan, “Are you full?”
“I’m full.” She set down her fork with a sense of loss.
Wen Yangzhi had no intention to linger, “Let’s go if you’re full.”
She didn’t know where Wen Yangzhi was taking her, but he simply grasped her arm, helping her up and leading her away right in front of the couple.
After a few steps, she realized she’d left her phone behind. She ran back to get it, and both Zhao Qin and Wen Wei were watching her.
Wen Wei finally spoke up in a gentle tone, “Go ahead.”
She glanced at Zhao Qin, cautious, “Auntie, we’ll be going first.”
Zhao Qin turned her eyes away, not looking at her.
Yun Yuwan knew it wouldn’t be so easy, but she turned to follow Wen Yangzhi, who naturally took her hand, his large hand enveloping hers.
It was Wen Yangzhi who actively closed the distance between them.
They left the villa.
Zhao Qin, refusing to give up, walked to the windowsill outside the dining room, only to see Wen Yangzhi holding Yun Yuwan in his embrace in front of the car.
It seemed he was comforting her, or perhaps this was how they always were when alone.
Yun Yuwan, who had worn a sour face, was finally coaxed into a smile for Wen Yangzhi.
They got into the car and left.
Zhao Qin returned to the dining table, dispiritedly asking, “Don’t you have anything to say to me?”
“I didn’t expect Hong Sheng to be like this, but if he likes her, let him be.” Wen Wei spoke without much concern.
Zhao Qin let out a light laugh, her words sharp and mocking, “Aren’t you happy, happy that he likes Lou Wanyi’s daughter?”
Wen Wei wiped his mouth with a handkerchief, his voice cooling a few degrees, “That kind of talk isn’t nice.”
“I’m not nice? They’re like this now, and all three of you are happy, only I am the outsider!”
Zhao Qin had always spoken softly and submissively in front of Wen Wei, but she could no longer bear it.
Wen Wei tossed his handkerchief on the dining table, his authoritative and somewhat aged voice heavily and solemnly pressing down,
“Can’t you see? He genuinely likes Yuwan. Have you ever seen him truly like anyone? He finally has a partner, and you want to break them up?”
“I shouldn’t have listened to you and let them live under one roof, which resulted in them growing fond of each other.” Zhao Qin felt bitter and aggrieved deep inside.
Wen Wei’s gaze was cold, his voice likewise, “They didn’t grow fond of each other over time.”
Zhao Qin stood up abruptly, pressing for an answer, “If it’s not the result of time, then what is it?”
Wen Wei stated bluntly, “Hong Sheng has had a one-sided love for her for six years.”
He clarified the facts to snap her back to reality,
“Consider what your son has told you about his preferences in a partner, starting six years ago; wasn’t every word about Yuwan? Even if they were apart, they would have ended up together.”
But all this, obviously his doing, was now framed as an inevitable occurrence, which Zhao Qin found laughable,
“But if you hadn’t brought her back, she and Hong Sheng wouldn’t have intersected.”
Wen Wei, trying not to lose his temper, was now stirred up, “If I hadn’t brought her back, your son would’ve stayed unmarried his whole life, get that straight.”
