A Crazy Love Proposal -
Chapter 221 - 221 117 Do You Like Me_2
Chapter 221: Chapter 117 Do You Like Me?_2 Chapter 221: Chapter 117 Do You Like Me?_2 Zhao Qin sneered, “Is it possible not to get married? Don’t try to fob me off with that. Look, his closest person is an outsider. He has never been as good to you or me as he is to them. Why can’t you understand me at all?”
He always did this, deliberately not taking any action, suppressing her with seemingly reasonable words.
Always with a nonchalant manner, because it’s not him who suffers but her.
Her husband likes Lou Wanyi, her son likes Lou Wanyi’s daughter. Why are they all like this towards her, yet she is not allowed to speak up?
Wen Wei pinched his brows tightly, “There’s nothing to compare between parents and a girlfriend. It’s clear that besides Yuwan, he will marry no one else.”
“I don’t believe he won’t marry anyone except her. He accepted all previous matchmaking attempts; they just didn’t work out,” Zhao Qin’s voice grew louder.
Seeing her eyes turning red, having to endure such anger at her age, Wen Wei didn’t necessarily want to argue. He just wanted Zhao Qin to understand that this was the only choice:
“Hong Sheng has now moved back in. Since ten years ago, when have you seen him living with us? Yuwan is an opportunity for us to fix our relationship with Hong Sheng.”
Wen Wei tried to wake her up, “If you really want to get along with Hong Sheng, you should be kind to Yuwan instead of targeting her.”
Zhao Qin simply questioned, “Why should I?”
The Maybach drove across Waibaidu Bridge, amidst the nonstop traffic. Passing through the bridge’s metal structure, the Oriental Pearl Tower stood tall in the distance, the yellow taxis brushing past.
Yun Yuwan sat in the car, looking blankly at the pedestrians and the river outside, feeling uneasy, “Uncle and Aunt won’t be mad about us, will they?”
“It’s fine, let them think it over,” Wen Yangzhi looked down, messaging a subordinate to entrust some work.
Meanwhile, Yun Yuwan’s phone suddenly chimed.
She took it out and found a transfer of fifty million: “Brother, why did you send me money?”
“It wasn’t me.” He didn’t even lift his eyelids.
Yun Yuwan puzzled, “Then this money…”
Wen Yangzhi knew without thinking who had sent the money: “Take it, it’s from the family.”
“Is it from Uncle?” Yun Yuwan probed.
Wen Yangzhi sent a message, “Probably.”
“So Uncle is very happy that we are together?” she suddenly realized.
Wen Yangzhi said sardonically, “Possibly happier than we are.”
Not knowing the true reason, but aware that at least someone in the family welcomed it, Yun Yuwan smiled, revealing a row of pearly teeth.
“Where are you taking me?”
He put away his phone, “Taking you to work.”
“Taking me to work?” Yun Yuwan was surprised.
A financial news article from the media that came out this morning popped up at the top of Wen Yangzhi’s phone screen. He swiped it away, speaking to her:
“You can choose to go shopping nearby, or stay in my office and read a book.”
Yun Yuwan somewhat couldn’t believe it, “Can I follow you to work?”
Wen Yangzhi, “Hmm.”
“I think I’ll go shopping. It doesn’t seem quite right.” Yun Yuwan hesitated.
He didn’t insist, “As you wish.”
The car pulled up in front of a European-style building in Lujiazui, its peak bearing the gilded letters of “Wen Bank.” Surrounding buildings like “Future Assets” and “China Ping An” were likewise.
Wen Yangzhi got out of the car, his assistant already waiting in the lobby, following him inside as the security guards bowed in greeting.
The driver took Yun Yuwan to a nearby mall.
Zhou Fei had just entered the lobby when she saw Wen Yangzhi entering the private elevator. She hurriedly took a few extra steps to catch up.
Wen Yangzhi saw her, stretched out his hand to stop the elevator, and Zhou Fei stepped in, unable to suppress a slight smile, “Good morning, Director Wen.”
A deep voice sounded behind her, “Just in time, there’s something I need to discuss with you.”
Zhou Fei looked back, Wen Yangzhi’s eyes were downturned, watching her quietly.
In that moment of exchanged glances, Zhou Fei felt gratified.
The elevator doors opened, and she followed Wen Yangzhi into his office.
The assistant brewed two cups of coffee and then left.
Zhou Fei felt smug, yet maintained a serene and composed demeanor.
She presumed that there had been a major issue between him and his girlfriend the night of the banquet.
Wen Yangzhi reminded her unhurriedly, “I’ve come across something recently.”
“What are you referring to?” Zhou Fei didn’t catch his implication.
In the corner office with the curtains drawn, the lighting was soft and white, and luxury furniture was arranged as if for an exhibition, a testament to quality.
Wen Yangzhi said leisurely, “Evidence of fraud in technology patents, which I haven’t taken to the financial press yet.”
Lucky for Zhou Fei, she had anticipated his query and had a well-organized response, “I’m sorry, Director Wen. The daily that exposed us previously claimed we were fabricating information. In reality, because technology companies have banded together to control public opinion, they won’t let us expose further.”
Wen Yangzhi didn’t say a word but simply opened the drawer, took out a newspaper, and pushed it across the desk towards her with a finger:
