Chapter 91: You’re choking me

Meanwhile, in the ruins of what was left of the scientist guild, Eva and the rest suddenly appeared. Everyone broke out in cold sweats at the sight of the devastation.

And cast a grateful gaze to Eva, whose expression was darkened in fury.

She had never felt such blinding rage—if not for her space ring, they would all be dead.

Ethan and Julian’s faces were ugly; they subtly glanced at the people Eva saved—ready to kill them if they displayed any atom of greed concerning their wife’s space.

-Scene before the last attack-

The ground beneath them shattered. Without hesitation, Eva shoved Ethan—who was right beside her—into her space ring. She gripped a nearby pillar, swinging herself to the side just as stone debris rained down, scraping across her face and drawing blood.

Julian caught on to her intention instantly. He teleported to the stunned scientists, herding them toward Eva.

Eva’s fingers moved swiftly, tapping each one and sending them into her space. Together, she and Julian worked fast, placing everyone under the crumbling structure into the safety of her space before it was too late.

Julian was the last to be sent in. But Eva stayed behind, her fingers digging into the pillar as she flung herself toward the suits.

Fallen rocks slammed it to her side, scratching open her arms. A groan escaped her lips, but she didn’t back down—there was no way she was returning without some suits with her.

This hope of survival wasn’t going to be lost under her watch, bleeding, she snatched at the suits mid-fall, stuffing as many as possible into her space.

Just as the building crumbled completely, Eva flashed into her space.

Ethan and Julian rushed to her side, their hearts pounding with fear. Panic had clawed at them the moment she hadn’t entered alongside Julian.

Ethan moved to lift her, but a sharp cry from Eva made him freeze.

"You’re hurt," Julian muttered, his brows creasing at the sight of blood soaking through her clothes.

"Mmm... my back," Eva groaned through clenched teeth.

Ethan gently lifted her shirt, inspecting the wound, while Julian reached into his space to retrieve healing potions—only to be interrupted by a calm, authoritative voice.

"Step aside; let me heal her," Grace said, her hands already glowing with green light.

Reluctantly, they moved aside, still hovering within reach, their protective instincts refusing to wane even slightly.

Grace crouched beside her and gently pressed a glowing hand to Eva’s back. Soft green light spilled from her palm, wrapping around Eva like a warm embrace.

A relieved sigh escaped Eva’s lips as the pain in her back gradually ebbed away.

"Thank you." She looked at Grace, grateful. Earlier, she’d been too exhausted to heal herself.

Grace’s expression softened, and she gave Eva some important advice. "Next time you’re injured, you only need to activate the crystal inside you by drawing energy from within, and your body will absorb energy instinctively."

Eva’s eyes lit up as she listened—she looked at Grace with a grateful expression, realizing the importance of her advice.

Grace smiled warmly in return—an indescribable feeling of happiness washed over her and her gaze became gentle when she faced Eva.

Eva sat up, she stretched her body, her bone resting with soft cracks. Releasing the tension in her body, Eva felt light, and she stood up to meet Ethan and Julian’s furious but relieved gazes.

"Eva, come with us," Ethan spoke in a firm tone accepting no for an answer. Eva’s skin prickled under their expressions, her legs refused to move, frozen in place.

Julian didn’t have much patience to wait; he placed a hand over her shoulder, doing the same for Ethan; they disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Grace’s heart skipped at the name Eva, but she quickly shook the thought away. It had to be a coincidence—her daughter was named Eva too, but she was afraid to let hope take root only to be crushed by disappointment.

She turned her gaze to the empty spot where they had vanished, a frown settling on her face.

Then, with a quiet sigh, she faced the scientists, who were still entranced by the strange and wondrous world inside Eva’s space.

Stone picked up a fistful of sand, brought it closer to his nose, and sniffed. His eyes widened at the touch earthly smell of the soil.

Next, he moved towards the trees, his eyes tracing the roots budding with life, and his heart pounded in excitement.

"Marvelous, marvellous, ha! This is a miracle, the smell, the feel, everything is real! Even the air!" Stone exclaimed as he hugged the tree, enjoying the rough bark pressing onto his arms.

Earlier, they were so stunned and scared by the sudden change in location that their brains couldn’t take in the wondrous sight before them.

Stone’s hands itched so badly to run so test on Eva, ’’How does this place come about? What is the technology behind this little world? Is she a dual power user and this is the world she created? Hmm...what unique power is this?’’ Stone talked to himself, not knowing he was saying those words aloud until he felt a pat on his shoulder.

Stone startled awake from his thoughts and turned to meet Grace’s sharp cold gaze. He froze, heart skipping as the weight of her glare pinned him down.

"Warn your team. Don’t you have any other thoughts on Eva, or do you’ll regret it?" Her last words were like an unsheathed sword pressed against his throat and he broke out in cold sweat.

’’Y-Yes.’’ Stone stuttered out, feeling Madam Grace was scarier than his nephews. The other brewing thoughts Instantly extinguished after hearing the threat in Grace’s tone.

They honestly appreciated the air around while some picked up the suits from the ground, counting how many Eva was able to save.

Meanwhile, in the forest, Ethan and Julian stood in front of Eva, their expressions colder than Eva had ever seen before, their oppressive silence choking her in place.

Eva grew nervous, she pulled the loose thread from her sleeves as her mind raced with thoughts on what she had done wrong.

"Eva, do you even realize what could’ve happened?" Ethan finally asked; they stared at Eva only to see her shake her head with a clueless expression.

Julian rubbed the space between his brows, fighting the urge to spank her silly. "Do you have any idea how dangerous it was to grab those suits while the building was collapsing?!" His expression was a storm of anger and fear as he stared at her.

Eva tilted her head, genuinely confused. As far as she was concerned, those suits were their only tickets to the surface—there was no way she was leaving them behind.

"I had to save those suits. I wasn’t recklessly risking my life—I only grabbed what I could." Eva’s voice was firm, her stance unwavering. She didn’t believe she’d done anything wrong.

"That doesn’t mean you should’ve put yourself in danger," Ethan countered, his tone tight with worry. "Even if the guild is gone, there are other scientists who can build new suits. But there’s only one you." He clenched his jaw, clearly frustrated.

"Honestly, I wish you hadn’t saved them at all. Now they know about your space—and that could put you in danger." Julian muttered from the side.

"Didn’t you see what’s happening out there? Do you really think there’s still time to make new suits before the city collapses?!" Eva shouted. The frustration and fear she’d been masking behind her usual playfulness burst free, stunning both men into silence.

Ever since she arrived in this world, it had been one chaotic event after another. She hadn’t even had the chance to enjoy her new life before the city plunged into darkness—and the failing Breathforge looming above only made everything worse.

"Sorry," Julian said softly, pulling her into a tight embrace. "We didn’t realize you felt this way."

Ethan’s hand curled into a tight fist—he silently blamed himself for missing the fear Eva had been hiding all along.

"Okay, loosen up. You’re choking me," Eva muttered, her dry tone cutting through the heavy air.

Julian eased his grip, and Eva’s expression shifted back to her usual calm. "I don’t want to talk about this anymore. Let’s go back—I’m starving." As if to prove her point, her stomach growled loudly.

"Next time, come to us when you’re sad or scared. Don’t keep it all in," Ethan said gently, brushing a dusty strand of hair behind her ear.

Eva hummed in response, her heartwarming under their concern—but the comfort was short-lived. Her stomach growled again.

Julian let out a helpless smile before teleporting them back to the clearing. Thankfully, there were some fruits nearby that Eva could snack on while they rested a bit longer in the space.

-Present-

Eva stood silently, fury simmering beneath her skin. Her voice was cold as ice when she turned to Grace.

"Who did this?"
